The implementation of Virtual Environments has often been used within the educational domain. This study adopts a Virtual Environment (VE) setting to enhance and develop the physical aspects of teaching the Islamic prayer to primary school children, in comparison to traditional forms of teaching through a prayer book and prayer video. An interactive teaching Software, the interactive Islamic Prayer (iIP), was designed and developed for this purpose and uses technology by Microsoft’s Microsoft Kinect 360 for Windows to demonstrate the various movements of the prayer in sequence. Through the administration of a number of questionnaires, a quantitative analysis of the participants’ learning experience were identified, as well as details over which approach the participants preferred. The questionnaires also provided a detailed insight into six areas of study from the learners’ perspective when using the various learning approaches: comprehension, learning experience, interaction, satisfaction, usability and achievement. The results revealed a higher degree of interaction within the lesson on prayer when using the iIP compared to the traditional teaching methods, and although some were unfamiliar with using the Microsoft Kinect 360, on the whole, they found it to be fun and educational. The findings also showed that the software was able to focus on lower level thinking skills, such as recalling information and memory, as a test of the students’ knowledge on the prayer before and after using the software showed a significant improvement in comparison to the other approaches. Recommendations have been given on how to effectively implement this software within these relevant classrooms

The outbreak of Covid-19 has caused a global health crisis, presenting numerous challenges to the healthcare system with its severe respiratory symptoms and variable presentation. Early and accurate diagnosis of the virus is critical in controlling its spread and reducing the burden on healthcare facilities. To address this issue and relieve the strain on the healthcare system, this paper proposes a machine learning-based approach for Covid-19 diagnosis. Four algorithms were used for analyzing early Covid-19 detection, i.e., logistic regression, random forest, decision tree, and naive Bayes, using a data set of basic symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath, etc. for predicting positive and negative Covid-19 cases. Furthermore, development of a web portal that provides information on global vaccine distribution and the most widely used vaccines by country along with Covid-19 predictions. Our evaluation results demonstrate that the decision tree model outperformed the other models, achieving an accuracy of 97.69%. This study provides a practical solution to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis through an improved diagnosis method and access to vaccination information

Comparative study of Ikirun and Osogbo Slag on concrete grade 20

This study examined the use of Prism Steel Slag (PSS) and Machine Iron Slag (MIS) as partial replacement of coarse aggregate in concrete. Coarse aggregates were partially replaced with PSS and MIS at 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% respectively. A total of 132 concrete cubes of sizes 150 mm x 150 mm x 150 mm were cast and cured in water for 7, 14, 21 and 28 days respectively. Mix ratio of 1:2:4 was adopted with w/c ratio of 0.45 and batching was done by weight. The slump result indicated that the fresh concrete becomes stiff as the percentages of PSS and MIS increases. However, the compressive strengths of concrete cubes increased as the curing ages increases. 50% PSS and 40% MIS can successfully be used as partial replacement of coarse aggregate in the production of concrete grade 20.Keywords: Concrete, Coarse Aggregate, Strength, Machine Iron Slag, Prism Steel Sla

Bite marks on skin and clay: A comparative analysis

Bite marks are always unique because teeth are distinctive. Bite marks are often observed at the crime scene in sexual and in physical assault cases on the skin of the victims and sometimes on edible leftovers in burglary cases. This piece of evidence is often ignored, but if properly harvested and investigated, bite marks may prove useful in apprehending and successfully prosecuting the criminals. Due to the importance of bite marks, we conducted a progressive randomised experimental study conducted on volunteers. A total of 188 bite marks on clay were studied. Based on these findings, 93.34% of the volunteers could be identified from the bite marks on the clay. In addition, 201 impressions on skin were studied, and out of these cases, 41.01% of the same volunteers could be identified based on the bite mark impressions on the skin

Background: Patients in all settings fully expect that they will be resuscitated if they have a cardiac arrest. It is therefore necessary to increase the number of qualified people, including school teachers and students who can play a vital role in performing basic and advanced cardiac life support at the scene of a medical emergency. Since life threatening events, such as cardiac arrest, must be responded to within six minutes, the retention of skills becomes a key concern in all urgent cases. The purpose of this study was to assess the existing knowledge of BLS among primary and secondary school teachers in Hebron, Palestine. Methods: After approval from Institute Ethical Committee and informed consent from the participant, the present study was conducted among primary and secondary school teachers. A self-administered questionnaire based on knowledge and attitude of BLS was used to collect data. Results: In general, only 42.5%of school teachers knew about CPR, but 57.5% had no previous information about CPR. Sources of information about CPR included television (26.5%), nurses and Drs (25.8), and the Internet (18.7%). Approximately 53% agreed that CPR training courses should be mandatory. Only 18.1% of teachers didn’t know the contact numbers for emergency services. Conclusions: This study has highlighted a critical issue that a majority of school teachers have limited knowledge about CPR. We recommend the mandatory implementation of CPR and basic life-support training for all school teachers across Palestine, and the need for incorporation of the BLS teaching into the Palestinian schools’ curricula without delay

This work studies helmets use as a safety tool among motorcycle riders in Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria. The instrument of data collection was a structured interviewer administered questionnaire on 400 motorcycle riders at Mokola and Sango areas, Ibadan. 330 responses were obtained to give a return rate of 82.5%. The analysis of the results showed that the frequency of helmet use in the study areas is 77.6% and that of non-user is 22.4%. 80% of the respondents felt that helmet use should be mandatory while only 20% felt that it should be at the discretion of riders. 150 (45.5%) respondents have ever been involved in motorcycle accidents out of which 94 (62.7%) were involved in head injury accidents. Up to 86 (91.5%) of these were involved in head injury accident before the introduction of legislation for compulsory crash helmet wear by motorcyclists in Nigeria while only 8(8.5%) were involved in the accident after the legislation of the law. This shows a decrease in head injury accidents after implementation of crash helmet law. Hence, there is need to strengthen existing legal enforcement of helmet use and ensure the availability of quality helmet to non-user both the commercial and private motorcyclists
