Stroke volume estimation by thoracocardiography is better when glottis is closed

Thoracocardiography approach pretends to non-invasively monitor stroke volume by inductive plethysmographic recording of ventricular volume curves by a transducer placed on the chest. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential of thoracocardiography to estimate stroke volumes while apnea with open glottis. We hypothesized that, when glottis is open, stroke volumes would be better estimated if airways flow curves were taken into account

Use of single- vs. multi-word verbs in the written discourse of Iranian EFL learners

Age is being evermore complained as an impediment to language competency, either given as a pretext or raised as a real challenge, taken for granted by foreign language learners. This study seeks to prod about the verb choices among EFL learners. In so doing, the two completely different radiuses of EFL learners, a group of university students in distance education, with part-time class participation and another from a private language institute in Qom province were recruited and compared on their choices of verbs in respect of single- and multi-word forms put into the written tasks. The results of the rating of the students' assignments showed that adult Iranian EFL learners' written language was deprived of phrasal verbs, even in informal writing assigned the use of informal language were scarcely captured. The study corroborates the former studies for the avoidance and incompetency of EFL learners in the use of phrasal verbs

Iranian EFL Regular University Students’ Motivational Beliefs by 2nd, 3rd and 4th Grade

Poking about the motivational beliefs of EFL learners across different graders is felt en route to monitoring their outlooks for waging into any actual learning. To do so, the study sought to ascertain the effect of grade levels on the motivational beliefs of Iranian EFL university students. A total of 202 Iranian EFL learners were examined for their self-efficacy and control of learning beliefs by dint of motivation subscales of Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire. Cross-sectional study was done for data collection and for means differences. Sophomores reported lower means for their motivational beliefs than other two graders. Third graders reported higher means than sophomores and seniors in all two variables. Fourth graders reported lower self-efficacy than other two graders. Furthermore, fourth graders reported a higher means for control of learning beliefs than sophomores. The findings corroborate former studies evidencing a tail-off in self-efficacy in higher graders

De L’efficacité des Mesures Administratives by Contre les Nuisances Sonores des Avions en

This article addresses the problems associated with aircraft noise with or without pilots. It asks whether the administrative measures taken by France and the United Arab Emirates are sufficient and efficient to combat noise pollution. It examines the aeronautical preventive measures, as well as those related to urbanism, before discussing remedial measures for aircraft noise. This article finds that the administrative measures taken by the UAE, in comparison to those of France, are insufficient and ineffective. One of the reasons is that the preventative and suppressive measures reflect the transversal nature of noise: they are both national and international regulations, but they are not homogenous, unitary and structured. Legislative policies, taking into account expert suggestions and opinions, must emerge in the UAE by following the recommendations on the protection of the environment of international institutions, such as ICAO. Thus, the mitigation measures would be used to redistribute aircraft noise to diminish its impact on the most sensitive areas. This article recommends measures such as modifying runways, as well as routes, and special manoeuvres to reduce noise during take-off and approach

This study took upon itself an analysis of the Quranic texts that came in the folds of the words of Imam Al-Hassan Al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him)، in the light of the analysis of the speech. It included seven main axes followed by the Hassanic texts in which the Quranic verses were mentioned. The study is rich in Quranic values that are rich in the hadiths of the tribe (peace be upon him).

Using Deep Convolutional Neural Network for Emotion Detection on a Physiological Signals Dataset (AMIGOS)

Recommender systems have been based on context and content, and now the technological challenge of making personalized recommendations based on the user emotional state arises through physiological signals that are obtained from devices or sensors. This paper applies the deep learning approach using a deep convolutional neural network on a dataset of physiological signals (electrocardiogram and galvanic skin response), in this case, the AMIGOS dataset. The detection of emotions is done by correlating these physiological signals with the data of arousal and valence of this dataset, to classify the affective state of a person. In addition, an application for emotion recognition based on classic machine learning algorithms is proposed to extract the features of physiological signals in the domain of time, frequency, and non-linear. This application uses a convolutional neural network for the automatic feature extraction of the physiological signals, and through fully connected network layers, the emotion prediction is made. The experimental results on the AMIGOS dataset show that the method proposed in this paper achieves a better precision of the classification of the emotional states, in comparison with the originally obtained by the authors of this dataset. This research project is financed by theGovernment of Colombia, Colciencias and the Governorateof Boyac
