UC@MOOC's Effectiveness by Producing Open Educational Resources

    Get PDF
Open education is one of the most important settings in every society. It grants everyone the right to learn freely. Today, technology is helping to make learning even more open by providing an environment of online education, which plays a remarkable role in shortening distances and encouraging students to learn. At Cadi Ayyad University (UCA) the new-enrolled students are facing linguistics barriers as well as overcrowding in classrooms, in particular for those in open access institutions. Subsequently, they cannot have an easy access to their face-to-face courses. To help students to overcome these problems, the university has decided to design an online environment for all courses and programmes. The most innovative project adopted at UCA to face massification was inspired from the massive open online courses and was designed as an open Educational platform entitled UC@MOOC. More than 120 scripted courses have been posted online so far. In this paper we will describe and discuss an analytics research on geometrical optics course designed for around 2000 students at UCA. Through out this research we will explain how this initiative has been considered as a source of producing open educational resources

DENCLUE-IM: A New Approach for Big Data Clustering

    Get PDF
AbstractEvery day, a large volume of data is generated by multiple sources, social networks, mobile devices, etc. This variety of data sources produce an heterogeneous data, which are engendered in high frequency. One of the techniques allowing to a better use and exploit this kind of complex data is clustering. Finding a compromise between performance and speed response time present a major challenge to classify this monstrous data. For this purpose, we propose an efficient algorithm which is an improved version of DENCLUE, called DENCLUE-IM. The idea behind is to speed calculation by avoiding the crucial step in DENCLUE which is the Hill Climbing step. Experimental results using large datasets proves the efficiency of our proposed algorithm

    Get PDF

Structural Effects of Silicon Substitution on Hydroxyapatite Structure with High Substitution Ratio By Rietveld’s Analysis

    Get PDF
The silicon-substituted hydroxyapatite (Si-HA) with three different Si-substitution levels were synthesized via aaqueous precipitation method, in the absence of any surfactants and organic solvents. The composition of the Si-substituted HA phases and effect of silicon substitution on the crystal structurewere investigated by Rietveld refinements from powder X-ray diffraction data. The results show that the final compounds are oxy-hydroxyapatites, a chemical formula for the Si-substituted HA phases with indication of the incorporated silicate amount is proposed

SARS-CoV-2 virus genome structure and evolution

Late December 2019, a new virus outbreak was detected in Wuhan, Hubei province China and later spread all over the world. The virus is a new strain of the β-Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) with a single strand positive sense RNA, and a genome size of 29,890 kb that codes for 9744 amino acids. Not many mutations are depicted in the SARS-CoV-2 genome, However, most of them are detected in the ORF8 regionand the spike. The latter exhibits higher affinity with the Human ACE2 receptor than the SARS-CoV.Alignment of SARS-CoV-2 genome with other Corona viruses shows a high similarity to the Bat-CoV,but this latter was not enough to conclude that the Bat is the origin of the Human SARS-CoV-2. This review aimed to provide an overview of the viral genome structure and its origin

Synthesis of some ribonucleosides derivatives and molecular docking analysis against variant corona virus omicrone

In this work, ribonucleoside products have been prepared by employing stannic tetrachloride (SnCl4) and natural phosphate as catalysts. The obtained result suggests that this catalyst facilitates the reactions of ribonucleoside-like products in a stereo-controlled manner, exhibiting β-selectivity when reacting with trimethylsilyl uracil, the ribonucleosides derivatives were obtained in suitable yields. In addition, we have performed the molecular docking analysis, demonstrated that the synthesized compounds have potential for antiviral activity against the omicron variant of coronavirus, and the D3, D4, E and F products have a higher binding energy than the molnupiravir drug, indicating that these products may be a probable drugs for the omicron variant
