Thermal-Error Regime in High-Accuracy Gigahertz Single-Electron Pumping
Single-electron pumps based on semiconductor quantum dots are promising candidates for the emerging quantum standard of electrical current. They can transfer discrete charges with part-per-million (ppm) precision in nanosecond time scales. Here, we employ a metal-oxide-semiconductor silicon quantum dot to experimentally demonstrate high-accuracy gigahertz single-electron pumping in the regime where the number of electrons trapped in the dot is determined by the thermal distribution in the reservoir leads. In a measurement with traceability to primary voltage and resistance standards, the averaged pump current over the quantized plateau, driven by a 1-GHz sinusoidal wave in the absence of a magnetic field, is equal to the ideal value of ef within a measurement uncertainty as low as 0.27 ppm
Isotope effect on the transition temperature in Fe-based superconductors: the current status
The results of the Fe isotope effect (Fe-IE) on the transition temperature
obtained up to date in various Fe-based high temperature superconductors
are summarized and reanalyzed by following the approach developed in [Phys.
Rev. B 82, 212505 (2010)]. It is demonstrated that the very controversial
results for Fe-IE on are caused by small structural changes occurring
simultaneously with the Fe isotope exchange. The Fe-IE exponent on
[, is the isotope mass]
needs to be decomposed into two components with the one related to the
structural changes () and the genuine (intrinsic)
one (). The validity of such decomposition is
further confirmed by the fact that coincides with

Small RNA Profile in Moso Bamboo Root and Leaf Obtained by High Definition Adapters
Moso bamboo (Phyllostachy heterocycla cv. pubescens L.) is an economically important fast-growing tree. In order to gain better understanding of gene expression regulation in this important species we used next generation sequencing to profile small RNAs in leaf and roots of young seedlings. Since standard kits to produce cDNA of small RNAs are biased for certain small RNAs, we used High Definition adapters that reduce ligation bias. We identified and experimentally validated five new microRNAs and a few other small non-coding RNAs that were not microRNAs. The biological implication of microRNA expression levels and targets of microRNAs are discussed

Long-term Prognostic Value of Cardiac MRI Left Atrial Strain in ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction
Background:
Left atrial (LA) dysfunction is associated with morbidity and mortality. To the knowledge of the authors, the relationship of LA strain to long-term prognosis in participants with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is unknown. /
Purpose:
To evaluate LA strain as a long-term outcome predictor in STEMI in a prospective, multicenter cardiac MRI cohort. /
Materials and Methods:
Participants with STEMI who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention and cardiac MRI from 10 sites (EARLY-MYO-CMR registry, clinical trial number NCT03768453) were included. The parent study took place between August 2013 and December 2018. LA longitudinal strain and strain rate parameters were derived from cine cardiac MRI by using an in-house semiautomated method. Major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) were defined as cardiovascular death, myocardial reinfarction, hospitalization for heart failure, and stroke. The association between LA performance and MACE was evaluated by using time-dependent receiver operating characteristic analysis, Kaplan-Meier analysis, and multivariable Cox regression analysis. /
Results:
A total of 321 participants (median age, 59 years; age range, 27–75 years; 90% men) were included in this study. During median follow-up of 3.7 years, MACE occurred in 76 participants (23.7%). Participants with impaired reservoir (≤22%) and conduit strain (≤10%) had a higher risk of MACE than those with reservoir strain greater than 22% and conduit strain greater than 10% (P < .001). Reservoir strain (hazard ratio, 0.84; 95% confidence interval: 0.77, 0.91; P < .001) and conduit strain (hazard ratio, 0.81; 95% confidence interval: 0.73, 0.89; P < .001) were independent predictors for MACE after adjustment for known risk factors. Finally, LA reservoir and conduit strains provided incremental prognostic value over traditional outcome predictors (Uno C statistic comparing models, 0.75 vs 0.68; P = .04). /
Conclusion:
Assessment of left atrial strain, as a measure of left atrial function, provided incremental prognostic information to established predictors in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction
Time-Distance Helioseismology of Deep Meridional Circulation
A key component of solar interior dynamics is the meridional circulation
(MC), whose poleward component in the surface layers has been well observed.
Time-distance helioseismic studies of the deep structure of MC, however, have
yielded conflicting inferences. Here, following a summary of existing results
we show how a large center-to-limb systematics (CLS) in the measured travel
times of acoustic waves affect the inferences through an analysis of frequency
dependence of CLS, using data from the Helioseismic and Doppler Imager (HMI)
onboard Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). Our results point to the residual
systematics in travel times as a major cause of differing inferences on the

A characteristics framework for Semantic Information Systems Standards
Semantic Information Systems (IS) Standards play a critical role in the development of the networked economy. While their importance is undoubted by all stakeholders—such as businesses, policy makers, researchers, developers—the current state of research leaves a number of questions unaddressed. Terminological confusion exists around the notions of “business semantics”, “business-to-business interoperability”, and “interoperability standards” amongst others. And, moreover, a comprehensive understanding about the characteristics of Semantic IS Standards is missing. The paper addresses this gap in literature by developing a characteristics framework for Semantic IS Standards. Two case studies are used to check the applicability of the framework in a “real-life” context. The framework lays the foundation for future research in an important field of the IS discipline and supports practitioners in their efforts to analyze, compare, and evaluate Semantic IS Standard
The effect of ultrasound pretreatment on some selected physicochemical properties of black cumin (Nigella Sativa)
Background
In the present study, the effects of ultrasound pretreatment parameters including irradiation time and power on the quantity of the extracted phenolic compounds quantity as well as on some selected physicochemical properties of the extracted oils including oil extraction efficiency, acidity and peroxide values, color, and refractive index of the extracted oil of black cumin seeds with the use of cold press have been studied.
Methods
For each parameter, three different levels (30, 60, and 90 W) for the ultrasound power and (30, 45, and 60 min) and for the ultrasound irradiation time were studied. Each experiment was performed in three replications.
Results
The achieved results revealed that, with enhancements in the applied ultrasound power, the oil extraction efficiency, acidity value, total phenolic content, peroxide value, and color parameters increased significantly (P 0.05).
Conclusions
In summary, it could be mentioned that the application of ultrasound pretreatment in the oil extraction might improve the oil extraction efficiency, the extracted oil’s quality, and the extracted phenolic compounds content.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
