Harrington’s desirability function approach is frequently used to overcome the problem of optimization of multiple responses simultaneously. However, this method will give a huge impact in the presence of outliers. Hence, it is not reliable to use Harrington’s desirability function method to find the optimum responses in this case because it is not resistant to outliers. As an alternative, Modified Geometric Mean (MGM) approach is proposed to estimate the parameter since this approach is resistant to outliers. Numerical example study is carried out to compare the performance of the proposed method with existing procedures. Based on the value of the overall desirability function,D,MGM is better compared with Harrington’s desirability function as it clearly shows that the value of D is larger and the standard error of the MGM approach is smaller. In overall, it is evident that the MGM approach can be an alternative method in dealing with the presence of outlier

    Java Coastal Community Empowerment Model

Speaking of the northern coastal communities of Java (Pantura), the first thing that comes to mind is the fishing community. The fishing community has always been an interesting object to learn. This is because the condition of the fishing area is different from the natural resources (SDA) of the sea owned by the northern coast of Java. The fishing area is always synonymous with poverty and backwardness in the midst of abundant marine wealth. However, this hypothesis is not entirely true, because not all northern coastal areas of Java are in that condition. This is of course because each region has different policies and concerns from the government of the shelter, but the most important factor is the willingness and determination of the local people in the northern coast to empower themselves. The experiment was conducted to determine the effects of feeding pomegranate peel silage with beet top silage, wheat straw, alfalfa hay, barley, cotton seed cake and mineral plus on feed intake and growth performance of Turkey bred sheep in research farm of Agriculture Faculty, Kabul University. Twelve, two and half years old turkey bred sheep with (57.240 ± 5.28) kg average initial body weight were used in a completely randomized design (CRD). Animals were caged individually in 3 groups and 4 replications. Groups included in this experiment were, first group (Control) or T1 pomegranate peel silage (PPS) 0%, second group or T2 (5% PPS) or 106 g and third group or T3 (10% PPS) or 211 g. In addition, animals were fed with 633 g barley, 633 g alfalfa hay, 211 g cotton seed cake, 106 g beet top silage, 4 g mineral plus with the same amount and wheat straw for control group or T1, T2 and T3, 528 g, 422 g and 317 g in dry matter (DM) basis, respectively once in a day at around 8 am. According to statistical analysis, there was a highly significant difference between groups in feed intake and significant difference in growth performance of sheep. According to L.S.D test, it was shown that the second group (T2) was better in feed intake and growth performance compared to other groups. The FCR of T1, T2 and T3 were 12.43, 7.88 and 15.13, respectively and the FCE were 8.05, 12.69 and 6.61 in control group, T2 and T3, respectively. Results of this study suggest that feeding (5%) pomegranate peel silage with wheat straw, alfalfa hay, cotton seed cake, barley, beet top silage and mineral plus affects the feed intake and growth performance of Tukey sheep. Wayang Golek art is an art originating from West Java Province. Due to the development of the times, the Wayang Golek art has decreased in its association, especially in the West Bandung Regency area. For this reason, there need to be conservation efforts carried out by the West Bandung Regency Government. Wayang Golek itself has been accepted by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. This study used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, with 2 informants, namely: (1) Head of Section for Art Development of the Culture and Tourism Office of West Bandung Regency, (2) and Wayang Golek Artists. Data collection techniques through interviews, documentation, and field observations. The results showed that the preservation of Wayang Golek art by the West Bandung Regency Culture and Tourism Office was not optimal. This is because (1) no regulation specifically regulates efforts to preserve the art of puppet show (2) the empowerment has not been able to increase community participation in preserving the art of Wayang Golek (3) has not been optimal in providing facilities in the form of supporting facilities and infrastructure in effort preservation of the puppet show art. Keywords: Role, Government, Art Preservation, Wayang GolekKesenian Wayang Golek merupakan kesenian yang berasal dari Provinsi Jawa Barat. Wayang Golek sendiri sudah diakusi oleh UNESCO sebagai Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. BACKGROUND: The commercial development and expansion of mobile phone networks has led to the creation of devices combining mobile phones and personal digital assistants, which could prove invaluable in a clinical setting. This pilot study aimed to look at how one such device compared with the current pager system in facilitating inter-professional communication in a hospital clinical team. METHODS: The study looked at a heterogeneous team of doctors (n = 9) working in a busy surgical setting at St. Mary's Hospital in London and compared the use of a personal digital assistant with mobile phone and web-browsing facilities to the existing pager system. The primary feature of this device being compared to the conventional pager was its use as a mobile phone, but other features evaluated included the ability to access the internet, and reference data on the device. A crossover study was carried out for 6 weeks in 2004, with the team having access to the personal digital assistant every alternate week. The primary outcome measure for assessing efficiency of communication was the length of time it took for clinicians to respond to a call. We also sought to assess the ease of adoption of new technology by evaluating the perceptions of the team (n = 9) to personal digital assistants, by administering a questionnaire. RESULTS: Doctors equipped with a personal digital assistant rather than a pager, responded more quickly to a call and had a lower of failure to respond rate (RR: 0.44; 95%CI 0.20–0.93). Clinicians also found this technology easy to adopt as seen by a significant reduction in perceptions of nervousness to the technology over the six-week study period (mean (SD) week 1: 4.10 (SD 1.69) vs. mean (SD) week 6: 2.20 (1.99); p = 0.04). CONCLUSION: The results of this pilot study show the possible effects of replacing the current hospital pager with a newer, more technologically advanced device, and suggest that a combined personal digital assistant and mobile phone device may improve communication between doctors. In the light of these encouraging preliminary findings, we propose a large-scale clinical trial of the use of these devices in facilitating inter-professional communication in a hospital setting
