An Analysis of the Changing Modus Operandi of Terrorist Attacks in Europe
There is a sharp increase in both the number of incidents and the deaths caused by different types of attacks in Europe recently. The assailants claimed these attacks either on behalf of Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (ISIL) or as lone wolves with no direct affiliation to the ISIL. However, there has been some change in the way some of the attacks were carried out. Also, there was a shift in their target selection. Security experts and authorities have indicated significant factors contributing to this development. This paper examines the apparent alarming trend in the change of terrorist modus operandi in Europe. The authors gathered a dataset from various open sources, primarily from Global Terrorism Database (GTD). The findings reveal that terroristsā modus operandi -- techniques, tactics, and procedures (TTP) -- has been influenced by international events and conflicts
A New Approach to a Theorem of Eng
The main aim of this work is to give a case-free algebraic proof for a
theorem of Eng on the Poincar\'e polynomial of parabolic quotients of finite
Coxeter groups evaluated at -1
An Inversion Statistic on the Hyperoctahedral Group
In this paper, we introduce an inversion statistic on the hyperoctahedral
group by using an decomposition of a positive root system of this
reflection group. Then we prove some combinatorial properties for the inversion
statistic. We establish an enumeration system on the group and give an
efficient method to uniquely derive any group element known its enumeration
order with the help of the inversion table. In addition, we prove that the
\textit{flag-major index} is equi-distributed with this inversion statistic on
EVALUATION OF EFFECTIVENESS OF VITAMIN TEACHER PORTAL
Distance education systems have been developing rapidly in the field of education. Since the beginning of FATIH (Opportunities to Increase and Technology to Improve Motion) Project applications, educational softwares and the concept of e-learning have been important concerns. Besides the lack or insufficiency of softwares for tablets or smart boards, the education content websites which already exist have been struggling to take part in this field. As a result, it is inevitable that there has been a competition between government supported applications and private sector. Vitamin Teacher Portal is an application that serves as a teacher training program. It is a distance education website designed for teachers to improve their both personal and professional skills. It includes live courses, forum, shares, teachersā resources and educational videos. It is a synchronous application with Vitamin Education website which is designed for students. In this study, qualitative research method has been used. It is conducted with teachers who use Vitamin Teacher Portal to have valid results. The aim of this study is to work out the sufficiency level of this application from the point of view of teachers. By this means, it could be work out whether it is sufficient enough to meet the needs of teachers or not. We also to find out how effectively teachers, what they acquired from the portal in class

Using GIS to understand the relationship of community factors and police shootings in the United States: a First Look
While many municipalities and counties have good collections of crime data, the lack of availability of national data limits the potential research on gun violence related to officer-involved shootings. Using an open source data collection data model, a data repository of police shootings is being created (SHOT - Statistics Help Officer Training). With incident location information, this paper takes a āfirst lookā at understanding community factors and their relationship to police āuse of forceā. The paper will briefly describe how GIS has been used to study crime, the problem related to data and data collection for police shootings and the SHOT method of data collection. Preliminary results of a GIS analysis of incidents, income, diversity and education will be described
Black and Blue: Media Attention in Red vs. Blue States, An Analysis of Violence Against LGBT Between 2004 and 2015
Violence against any person is unacceptable; however, there seems to be a tacit collusion with perpetrators when the media non-reports or under-reports incidents of violence in which the victims are targeted because of their actual or perceived LGBT identity. One wonders if the political and religious broad brush strokes of a state influence the response of the media within that state. Close examination of this data will determine if there are discrepancies between the two types of states regarding their portrayal of anti-LGBT attacks. How does the governmental bias of a state influence the coverage of these attacks? All states with in the United States will be examined in this research, through newspaper articles and TV and radio news reports, to determine if there are significant differences in the portrayal of anti-LGBT violence as a result of the red or blue status of the state
Determining the Criteria Identifying Teacher Performance Through Multiple Indicators
This study focused on determining the criteria for the assessment of teachersā performance. It aimed to determine āTeachersā Performance Assessment Scaleā through the opinions of teachers, administrators, and students. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to gather the opinions of the participants. Four education-specialists took part in the interviews and analysis of the data. The data were analyzed by means of factor analysis and varimax method was used to reduce the items and group the related ones. According to the results, āTeacher Performance Assessment Scaleā included 39-item and 6 sub-dimensions. Besides, self-evaluation and long term observation of multiple indicators were found to be the most appropriate ways to evaluate teachersā performance
