Three-loop HTL gluon thermodynamics at intermediate coupling
We calculate the thermodynamic functions of pure-glue QCD to three-loop order
using the hard-thermal-loop perturbation theory (HTLpt) reorganization of
finite temperature quantum field theory. We show that at three-loop order
hard-thermal-loop perturbation theory is compatible with lattice results for
the pressure, energy density, and entropy down to temperatures .
Our results suggest that HTLpt provides a systematic framework that can used to
calculate static and dynamic quantities for temperatures relevant at LHC.Comment: 24 pages, 13 figs. 2nd version: improved discussion and fixing typos.

Three-loop HTL QCD thermodynamics
The hard-thermal-loop perturbation theory (HTLpt) framework is used to
calculate the thermodynamic functions of a quark-gluon plasma to three-loop
order. This is the highest order accessible by finite temperature perturbation
theory applied to a non-Abelian gauge theory before the high-temperature
infrared catastrophe. All ultraviolet divergences are eliminated by
renormalization of the vacuum, the HTL mass parameters, and the strong coupling
constant. After choosing a prescription for the mass parameters, the three-loop
results for the pressure and trace anomaly are found to be in very good
agreement with recent lattice data down to , which are
temperatures accessible by current and forthcoming heavy-ion collision

Three-loop matching coefficients for hot QCD: Reduction and gauge independence
We perform an integral reduction for the 3-loop effective gauge coupling and
screening mass of QCD at high temperatures, defined as matching coefficients
appearing in the dimensionally reduced effective field theory (EQCD).
Expressing both parameters in terms of a set master (sum-) integrals, we show
explicit gauge parameter independence. The lack of suitable methods for solving
the comparatively large number of master integrals forbids the complete
evaluation at the moment. Taking one generic class of masters as an example, we
highlight the calculational techniques involved. The full result would allow to
improve on one of the classic probes for the convergence of the weak-coupling
expansion at high temperatures, namely the comparison of full and effective
theory determinations of the spatial string tension. Furthermore, the full
result would also allow to determine one new contribution of order O(g**7) to

Dualization and subjective employment insecurity: Explaining the subjective employment insecurity divide between permanent and temporary workers across 23 European countries
Dualization theory posits that certain institutions cause dualization in the labour market, yet how institutions deepen the subjective insecurity divide between insiders and outsiders has not been examined. This paper examines this question using data from 23 European countries in 2008/9. Results show that the subjective employment insecurity divide between permanent and temporary workers varies significantly across different countries. Corporatist countries, with stronger unions, have larger subjective insecurity divides between permanent and temporary workers. However, this is because permanent workers feel more secure in these countries rather than because temporary workers are more exposed to feelings of insecurity
A new three-loop sum-integral of mass dimension two
We evaluate a new 3-loop sum-integral which contributes to the Debye
screening mass in hot QCD. While we manage to derive all divergences
analytically, its finite part is mapped onto simple integrals and evaluated

Winter wheat roots grow twice as deep as spring wheat roots, is this important for N uptake and N leaching losses?
Cropping systems comprising winter catch crops followed by spring wheat could reduce N leaching risks compared to traditional winter wheat systems in humid climates. We studied the soil mineral N (Ninorg) and root growth of winter- and spring wheat to 2.5 m depth during three years. Root depth of winter wheat (2.2 m) was twice that of spring wheat, and this was related to much lower amounts of Ninorg in the 1 to 2.5 m layer after winter wheat (81 kg Ninorg ha-1 less). When growing winter catch crops before spring wheat, N content in the 1 to 2.5 m layer after spring wheat was not different from that after winter wheat. The results suggest that by virtue of its deep rooting, winter wheat may not lead to high levels of leaching as it is often assumed in humid climates. Deep soil and root measurements (below 1 m) in this experiment were essential to answer the questions we posed
A fresh look on three-loop sum-integrals
In order to prepare the ground for evaluating classes of three-loop
sum-integrals that are presently needed for thermodynamic observables, we take
a fresh and systematic look on the few known cases, and review their evaluation
in a unified way using coherent notation. We do this for three important cases
of massless bosonic three-loop vacuum sum-integrals that have been frequently
used in the literature, and aim for a streamlined exposition as compared to the
original evaluations. In passing, we speculate on options for generalization of
the computational techniques that have been employed.Comment: 19 page
IBP methods at finite temperature
We demonstrate the applicability of integration-by-parts (IBP) identities in
finite-temperature field theory. As a concrete example, we perform 3-loop
computations for the thermodynamic pressure of QCD in general covariant gauges,
