Widom line prediction by the Soave-Redlich-Kwong and Peng-Robinson equations of state
Using cubic equations of state for a single-component fluid, we compute pseudocritical loci where the isobaric heat capacity is a relative maximum at constant pressure, or at constant temperature. These two loci, called the Widom line and the characteristic isobaric inflection curve (CIIC), are quite different from each other, as we show using the van der Waals equation, based on which the two loci admit a closed-form representation in the (P, T) plane. Similarly, the Redlichâ Kwong (RK) equation leads to a closed-form representation for the CIIC in the (T,v) plane. With the Soaveâ Redlichâ Kwong (SRK) and the Pengâ Robinson (PR) equations we find almost coincident predictions for the above-mentioned pseudocritical loci; furthermore, comparing our results with a correlation obtained by regression of experimental data for CO2and water shows that the increased complexity of the SRK and PR equations (as compared to RK) allows improved agreement with the experimental data
Success Factors of International Education and Training Networks
In the last decade, several international education and training networks have been established in the nuclear field, striving to support â in general terms â the availability of qualified human resources in nuclear facilities (including research centers). Re-cently, several cooperation agreements have been signed between different net-works with the aim to further boost the impact and effectiveness of their work. The networks have become active in different geographical regions of the world, and their creation has been supported by different international organizations. Consequently, for stakeholders in the nuclear field it is increasingly difficult to receive an overview, and to differentiate substantially between the education and training impacts on their own human resource issues. In order to present an overview and a clearer view on existing education and training networks, and to assess the potential benefits of their work for concerned stakehold-ers, this paper presents 2 examples (European Nuclear Education Network / ENEN, European Fusion Education Network / FuseNet), comparing their history, their target groups and their members, their mission and objectives, their activities and working mechanisms, as well as their information and communication (web sites). The objective is to develop criteria and in particular success factors that may provide guidance for further development of international education and training networks
Videoconferencing analytic psychodrama in treating young adultsâ psychological suffering : preliminary results
The study aims to explore the effects that videoconferencing Analytic Psychodrama (AP) has on the psychological wellbeing and emotional competence of young adults who are suffering from mental health problems. Twenty-two undergraduate students, asking for help at the Psychological Counselling Service of the University of Bologna for anxiety-depressive problems, took part in the three online groups that met weekly from October 2020 to July 2021. The Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation Outcome Measure, the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire Short Form, the Toronto Alexithymia Scale, the Interpersonal Reactivity Index, and the Group Climate Questionnaire were used as test-retest questionnaires for clinical outcomes, emotional competence, and group climate evaluations. There was a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and 10-month scores for patients in clinical outcomes. Alexithymia significantly decreased and emotional intelligence and group engagement increased post-intervention. Videoconferencing AP sounds promising for alleviating psychological problems and to improve young adults' emotional competence
âI Canât Do without Youâ: Treatment Perspectives for Affective Dependence: A Scoping Review
Affective Dependence (AD) is a problematic model of the love relationship that is becoming increasingly prevalent and evident in the context of couple relationships. Similarly, the phenomenon is being observed with growing frequency in daily clinical practice, making it increasingly neces sary to identify treatment guidelines that can help clinicians in dealing with AD, while waiting for the literature to reach a consensus on its definition and nosographic profile. The main objective of this work is to explore the existing evidence of effectiveness regarding feasible treatments for
Affective Dependence through a scoping review of the international literature carried out using the main scientific databases and following the PRISMA-ScR (PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews) guidelines. Seven studies were included in this review, and the results show that several pharmaceu ticals, as well as different types of individual and group therapies, are proposed as treatment plans for AD. However, there is a lack of clinical trials that can verify the efficacy of the AD treatments reported so far in the literature. Some reflections that may help to distinguish a âhealthyâ addiction from a dysfunctional or markedly pathological one are considered alongside potential prevention perspectives
Fedi in movimento : luoghi, aggregazioni e identità religiose in emigrazione
This Mondi Migranti dossier aims to attract attention towards religious
phenomena associated with migrations, starting with the affirmation of the extent to
which they are important for – and influence – integration processes in host societies.
The reflection is based on the assertion that religion is never just religion: it involves
various implications interweaving with the subjective dimension and that of collective
life. The subjective dimension is associated with the cultural: in religious practice,
the immigrant find out symbols, rituals, devotions and familiar
words which are a reminders of the past, keep his/her – often troubled – life afloat
in the present and induce hope for the future. A further crucial function derives from
the sense of solidarity of religious communities in emigration: the promotion of
forms of reciprocal assistance and supporting brethren in difficulty. Despite their
scarcity of means, immigrant communities carry out various informal welfare activities,
doing their best to respond to participants’ need
Water bears dominated cryoconite hole ecosystems : densities, habitat preferences and physiological adaptations of Tardigrada on an alpine glacier
We investigated the Forni Glacier and the surrounding area in the Alps in terms of habitat preferences, densities, dispersal and desiccation tolerance of glacier tardigrades, which are one of the most common faunal representatives and top consumers in supraglacial ecosystems. To do so, we sampled supraglacial environments (cryoconite holes, debris from ice surface, dirt cones and moraine, mosses from supraglacial stones) and non-glacial habitats (mosses, freshwater sediments and algae), and we installed air traps on the glacier and the nearby area. We found that cryoconite holes on the Forni Glacier are exclusively dominated by one metazoan group of tardigrades, representing one species, Hypsibius klebelsbergi (identified by morphological and molecular approaches). Tardigrades were found in 100% of cryoconite holes and wet supraglacial sediment samples and reached up to 172 ind./ml. Additionally, we found glacier tardigrades in debris from dirt cones and sparsely in supraglacial mosses. Glacier tardigrades were absent from freshwater and terrestrial samples collected from non-glacial habitats. Despite the fact that H. klebelsbergi is a typical aquatic species, we showed it withstands desiccation in sediments, but in low temperatures only. Treatments conducted in higher temperatures and water only showed low or no recovery. We suspect successful dispersal with wind might have taken place only when tardigrades desiccated in sediments and were passively transported by cold wind. Limited ability to withstand high temperatures and desiccation may be potential barriers preventing glacier tardigrades inhabiting new, even apparently suitable high mountain water bodies like temporary rock pools
Calculation Of Secondary Particles In Atmosphere And Hadronic Interactions
Calculation of secondary particles produced by the interaction of cosmic rays
with the nuclei of Earth's atmosphere pose important requirements to particle
production models. Here we summarize the important features of hadronic
simulations, stressing the importance of the so called ``microscopic''
approach, making explicit reference to the case of the FLUKA code. Some
benchmarks are also presented.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures. Extended version of report given at the IInd

Adolescent dietary patterns are associated with lifestyle family psycho-social factors
Background/ Objectives: Dietary intake during adolescence contributes to lifelong eating habits and the development of early risk factors for disease in adulthood. Few studies have examined the dietary patterns of adolescents and the social and environmental factors that may affect them during this life stage. The present study describes dietary patterns in a cohort of adolescents and examines their associations with socioeconomic factors, as well as parental and adolescent risk factor behaviours.
Design: A semi quantitative FFQ was used to assess study adolescentsâ usual dietary intake over the previous year. Information was collected on family functioning and various socio economic and risk factor variables via questionnaire. Adolescents visited the clinic for anthropometric measurements.
Setting: The Western Australian Pregnancy Cohort Study (Raine Study), Perth, Western Australia.
Subjects: Adolescents (n 1631) aged 14 years from a pregnancy cohort study.
Results: Factor analysis identified two distinct dietary patterns that differed predominantly in fat and sugar intakes. The âWesternâ pattern consisted of high intakes of take away foods, soft drinks, confectionery, French fries, refined grains, full fat dairy products and processed meats. The âHealthyââ pattern included high intakes of whole grains, fruit, vegetables, legumes and fish. ANOVA showed that the âWesternâ dietary pattern was positively associated with greater television viewing and having a parent that smoked, and was inversely associated with family income. The âHealthyââ pattern was positively associated with female gender, greater maternal education, better family functioning and being in a two parent family, and was inversely associated with television viewing.
Conclusions: This study suggests that both lifestyle factors and family psycho social environment are related to eating patterns in Australian adolescents
