    The Impact of Dividend Policy on Share Price Volatility: Empirical Evidence from Jordanian Stock Market

    The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between dividend policy and share price volatility with a focus on companies represent four sectors listed in Jordanian stock market. For this purpose, a sample of 53 companies listed in main market of Bursa Amman were selected and the relationship between share price volatility with two main measurements of dividend policy, dividend yield and payout ,were examined by applying multiple regression for a period of 13 years from 2001 to 2013. The primarily regression model was expanded by adding control variables including size, stock repurchase, and stock dividend. The empirical results of this study showed significant negative relationship between share price volatility with dividend payout and a very weak positive relationship between dividend yield and share price volatility. Moreover, a significant positive relationship between share price volatility and size is found. Based on findings of this study, dividend payout and stock dividend have most impact on share price volatility amongst predictor variables.     The Impact of Jordan’s Accession to the World Trade Organization on the Jordan Economy

    This study aims to show the impact of Jordan’s accession to WTO on the Jordanian economy. The descriptive analytical approach was used to conduct this study, where, qualitative data was collected from published articles in Scientific Journals in order to identify the WTO in terms of objectives and membership conditions. The analytical side of this study relies on quantitative data related to a number of economic indicators namely; exports volume, foreign investments, foreign trade, inflation rates, and GDP rates, these data were collected from the reports issued by the official agencies such as the Central Bank of Jordan and Ports Corporation. The main findings of the study show that Jordan’s accession to WTO has a positive impact on exports, foreign trade and foreign investments, and no impact on inflation rates. The researcher suggested exploiting the membership in WTO to build other relations with the members, such as, educational, tourist and therapeutic relations

    Constitutional and Legal Development of the Freedom of Public Meetings in Jordan

    Freedom of meetings, like other public freedoms, requires a democratic climate and an advanced cultural and economic level in order to achieve the desired results and prevent the public authorities from attacking them. Based on the awareness of the Jordanian State of the importance of freedom of meetings in achieving democratic rule, and communicating the opinions and demands of citizens to the public authorities in the State. In Jordan’s successive constitutions, it ensured the assertion of this freedom as a Constitutional right guaranteed to Jordanians. It also referred the organization of its exercise to its regular laws. In response to that, the Jordanian legislator issued a number of successive public meeting laws that imposed restrictions on freedom of meetings on the one hand, and clarified the procedures for exercising and organizing them, on the other hand.     The Effect of Disclosing the Social, Environmental and Economic Dimensions on the Profitability of the Services Sector Companies Listed on the Amman Stock Exchange

    Purpose: Examine the influence of disclosing social, environmental, and economic activities on profitability in the services sector on the Amman Stock Exchange.   Theoretical Framework: Explore theoretical underpinnings connecting disclosure of social, environmental, and economic activities to business profitability, drawing from corporate responsibility, sustainability, and financial theories.   Methodology: Utilized a questionnaire distributed to Jordanian service sector firms' auditors and financial managers, employing simple random sampling. Focused on variables related to social, environmental, and economic disclosure.   Findings: Positive link between social disclosure and profitability, attributed to fair service distribution and indirect employee support. Environmental disclosure positively affects profits through resource optimization and reduced pollution. Economic disclosure correlates positively with profitability by influencing pricing and product design.   Conclusion: Disclosing social, environmental, and economic activities significantly impacts profitability in Amman Stock Exchange-listed service sector firms, emphasizing equitable services, resource efficiency, and strategic economic disclosure

    The role of information technology in raising the efficiency of Amman stock exchange mediated by the behavior of the stock prices

    The study aimed to explore the role of information technology in raising the efficiency of the Amman Stock Exchange, mediated by the behavior of the stock prices. The study chose a sample consisting of 24 companies that are listed on the Amman Stock Exchange. The study used the average of the abnormal return of the stocks gained by companies through information technology applications. The study carried out a multiple regression analysis to explore the degree to which the independent variable affected the dependent one. The study results found that the abnormal return of the stocks gained by companies through information technology applications is low. The study also found that there is a significant relationship between using IT applications and the efficiency of the Amman Stock Exchange, mediated by the behavior of the stock prices. Therefore, the study recommends expanding the scope of using IT in emerging stock markets, including the Amman Stock Exchange, with the aim of raising the operational efficiency of such markets

    The impact of domestic savings gap on the current account balance in Jordan during the period (1995-2020)

    The study aims to demonstrate the role of the domestic savings gap in the Current Account (CA) balance in Jordan, by analyzing the size and development of the domestic savings gap in Jordan. As well as analyzing the role of domestic savings in the CA, and balance in Jordan. Auto Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) and Bound Testing methodology were used to measure the short and long-term impact of deficit determinants in the CA of the Jordanian balance of payments. Several results were found in the current study. First, a positive and significant effect of the public savings gap on the CA deficit in Jordan was found during the period 1995 to 2020. Second, a positive and significant effect of the private sector savings gap on the CA in Jordan during the study period. Finally, the government sector’s gap has a greater impact compared to the private sector's gap on the CA in Jordan. The study recommends the necessity of drawing up incentive policies for domestic savings and creating incentives and means that can help increase the mobilization and distribution of savings to finance productive investments to reduce the CA deficit in Jordan

    Nepotism, employees’ competencies and firm performance in the tourism sector: A dual multivariate and Qualitative Comparative Analysis approach

    © 2018 Elsevier Ltd The paper identifies the critical competencies affecting Egyptian travel agents’ performance while assessing the negative influence of nepotism on such competencies. To address this aim, the study uses a holistic dual approach employing a multivariate technique using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) and a configuration method through a fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA). Based on a sample of 500 travel agents’ employees, the results show that: (1) none of the competencies is sufficient to drive travel agents’ performance, (2) two distinct configurations of employee competencies are likely to result in high performance, and (3) nepotism has a direct negative influence on some of these competencies. The study holds important implications for both theory and practice
