This article is an attempt to make a comparative literary study on the impact of the environment on the poetry of Mahmoud Darwish and Juan Ramon Jimenez. Both of the famous authors treat the issue of the nature, place, time and environment in a wonderful way that gives us the opportunity to study them as special cases even that both poets didn't live in the same period, but in different times. We have chosen some fragments from their poetry as examples of both poets and we found as a conclusion that the two poets have many things in common, especially they way that they deal with the environment and nature

Attitudes toward Women’s Participation in Public Life in the United Arab Emirates

The goals of this study are to identify attitudes of university students toward women’s participation in public life (social, economic, and political), and to determine the effect of independent factors on their attitudes. To achieve these goals, I used a self-reported questionnaire to collect data from a stratified random sample (1260 students), as well as descriptive statistics (percentages) and inferential statistics (forward stepwise regression). Results of the study revealed that the majority of respondents support women’s participation in public life in UAE society. Also, university students supported the right of women to have equal educational opportunities, as well as equal participation in civil societies, volunteer societies, and municipal councils. However, the majority tends to be less in favor of women in economic and political participation. Finally, empirical results were that gender, a mother’s education, and nationality were associated with the university students’ attitudes toward women’s participation in the social, economic, and political spheres

Embedded system for monitoring wood made infrastructures

Starting from a context in which sustainable construction and the efficient use of natural resources are being promoted more every day, the COMPOP project appears where it is intended to develop new composite materials for construction combining laminated poplar wood (Glulam) and reinforcing it with carbon fiber. The COMPOP project has been active for a few years and has reached a stage in which they want to demonstrate the effectiveness of these new materials in real constructions. With this, the need arises to monitor the stresses supported by these structures that are still in the prototype phase. This Final Degree Project aims to develop a device that meets this need, that is, it measures the stresses that each beam of a structure supports and analyzes these data, checking that the deformations suffered are within the operating margin at all times. The development and implementation of this project is performed following methodologies of Systems Engineering, giving realism and getting the student closer to professional techniques, widely recognized in the job market. Furthermore, the complexity and multidisciplinary scope of this Bachelor’s Thesis allows covering not only the different specialties of the Bachelor in Telecommunication Engineering but also acquiring knowledge and transversal abilities from other fields of the Engineering, such as Mechanical or Building Engineering. Besides specific software of each of the mentioned areas, advanced techniques of machining, manufacturing or characterization of different devices, among others, have been analyzed and applied.Partiendo de un contexto en el que cada día se fomenta más la construcción sostenible y el uso eficiente de los recursos naturales, aparece el proyecto COMPOP donde se pretende desarrollar nuevos materiales compuestos para construcción combinando madera laminada de chopo (Glulam) y reforzándolo con fibra de carbono. El proyecto COMPOP lleva activo unos cuantos años y ha llegado a una fase en la que se quiere demostrar la eficacia de estos nuevos materiales en construcciones reales. Con ello surge la necesidad de monitorizar los esfuerzos que soportan estas estructuras que están aún en fase de prototipo. Este Trabajo Final de Grado pretende desarrollar un dispositivo que cubra esta necesidad, es decir que mida los esfuerzos que soportan cada viga de una estructura y analice esos datos comprobando que en todo momento las deformaciones sufridas están dentro del margen de operación. El desarrollo e implementación de este proyecto se lleva a cabo siguiendo metodologías de Ingeniería de Sistemas, dotándolo de realismo y acercando al alumno a técnicas profesionales de amplio reconocimiento en el mercado de trabajo. Asimismo, la complejidad y ámbito multidisciplinar de este Trabajo Fin de Grado le permite cubrir, no sólo las diferentes especialidades del Grado de Ingeniería de Telecomunicación, sino también adquirir conocimientos y habilidades transversales o específicos de otros campos de la Ingeniería, como la Mecánica o la Edificación. Most of the literary studies focused on the superficial connotations that Lorca wanted to transfer to the reader about the Spanish society during the first decades of the twentieth century. In this article we focus on the hidden tendency of the author of Yerma and the way he used these characters to reveal his own ideas, specially his homosexuality that could be understood from the attitude of Juan and Yerma at the same time: Juan because he didn't want to have any children and never think about them, and Yerma because she is regarded as a "dry woman" that will never be a mother forever

Hang Nadim International Airport does not yet have supporting facilities to enhance flight safety, namely an isolated aircraft parking area. This place is used to accommodate aircraft that are in a certain condition that can endanger the aircraft itself, other aircraft, and the surrounding environment. Every aiport authority is obliged to provide an isolated place for the placement of aircraft that experience disturbances or security threats

Preference on the Perception of Mobile Banking: A Saudi Arabian Perspective

The purpose of this study was to investigate specific factors that predict the acceptance of mobile banking in Saudi Arabia. A questionnaire was developed to focus on a number of constructs, identified in the literature, as potential predictors of acceptance. Quality of Internet connection was highlighted to have a significant impact on the perceived ease of using mobile banking. Also, the perceived usefulness of mobile banking was significantly affected by the degree of awareness among customers. Trust in mobile banking and resistance to change are among factors with a significant impact on consumer's attitude towards adopting mobile banking. This research extended the existing Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) (Davis, 1989) and made valuable contributions to mobile banking service providers in Saudi Arabia, as well as to researchers in mobile and Internet banking in the region. This research can be used as the basis of a more comprehensive study of consumer's attitude, towards the evolving mobile-based e-business solutions

New Media to Further Global Engagement

This 2010 Brookings workshop paper explores opportunities for expanding the instruments available to foreign policy-makers to engage weak states. Fragmented and internally divided states can be difficult to influence by traditional foreign policy means and further can be difficult to understand through traditional media outlets. New models of civil society action catalyzed by new media—and more broadly grounded civic media—show potential for reducing internal conflict and promoting social trust among tribal, ethnic, and religious groups. Bringing new media communications together with civil society action and model programs creates more powerful opportunities to enhance understanding of these internal conflicts and thereby address them in ways that will help accelerate social and political change. This paper identifies new media tools and connection technologies that can foster or enhance civic engagement through case studies that span the globe.
