A Search for leptophilic Z_(l) boson at future linear colliders
We study the possible dynamics associated with leptonic charge in future
linear colliders. Leptophilic massive vector boson, Z_(l), have been
investigated through the process e^(+)e^(-) -> mu^(+)mu^(-). We have shown that
ILC and CLIC will give opportunity to observe Z_(l) with masses up to the
center of mass energy if the corresponding coupling constant g_(l) exceeds

High-throughput imaging of ATG9A distribution as a diagnostic functional assay for adaptor protein complex 4-associated hereditary spastic paraplegia
Adaptor protein complex 4-associated hereditary spastic paraplegia is caused by biallelic loss-of-function variants in AP4B1, AP4M1, AP4E1 or AP4S1, which constitute the four subunits of this obligate complex. While the diagnosis of adaptor protein complex 4-associated hereditary spastic paraplegia relies on molecular testing, the interpretation of novel missense variants remains challenging. Here, we address this diagnostic gap by using patient-derived fibroblasts to establish a functional assay that measures the subcellular localization of ATG9A, a transmembrane protein that is sorted by adaptor protein complex 4. Using automated high-throughput microscopy, we determine the ratio of the ATG9A fluorescence in the trans-Golgi-network versus cytoplasm and ascertain that this metric meets standards for screening assays (Z'-factor robust >0.3, strictly standardized mean difference >3). The 'ATG9A ratio' is increased in fibroblasts of 18 well-characterized adaptor protein complex 4-associated hereditary spastic paraplegia patients [mean: 1.54 ± 0.13 versus 1.21 ± 0.05 (standard deviation) in controls] and receiver-operating characteristic analysis demonstrates robust diagnostic power (area under the curve: 0.85, 95% confidence interval: 0.849-0.852). Using fibroblasts from two individuals with atypical clinical features and novel biallelic missense variants of unknown significance in AP4B1, we show that our assay can reliably detect adaptor protein complex 4 function. PGB pair production at LHC and ILC as a probe of the topcolor-assisted technicolor models
The topcolor-assisted technicolor (TC2) model predicts some light pseudo
goldstone bosons (PGBs), which may be accessible at the LHC or ILC. In this
work we study the pair productions of the charged or neutral PGBs at the LHC
and ILC. For the productions at the LHC we consider the processes proceeding
through gluon-gluon fusion and quark-antiquark annihilation, while for the
productions at the ILC we consider both the electron-positron collision and the
photon-photon collision. We find that in a large part of parameter space the
production cross sections at both colliders can be quite large compared with
the low standard model backgrounds. Therefore, in future experiments these

Chronic psychosocial and financial burden accelerates 5-year telomere shortening: findings from the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults Study.
Leukocyte telomere length, a marker of immune system function, is sensitive to exposures such as psychosocial stressors and health-maintaining behaviors. Past research has determined that stress experienced in adulthood is associated with shorter telomere length, but is limited to mostly cross-sectional reports. We test whether repeated reports of chronic psychosocial and financial burden is associated with telomere length change over a 5-year period (years 15 and 20) from 969 participants in the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA) Study, a longitudinal, population-based cohort, ages 18-30 at time of recruitment in 1985. We further examine whether multisystem resiliency, comprised of social connections, health-maintaining behaviors, and psychological resources, mitigates the effects of repeated burden on telomere attrition over 5 years. Our results indicate that adults with high chronic burden do not show decreased telomere length over the 5-year period. However, these effects do vary by level of resiliency, as regression results revealed a significant interaction between chronic burden and multisystem resiliency. For individuals with high repeated chronic burden and low multisystem resiliency (1 SD below the mean), there was a significant 5-year shortening in telomere length, whereas no significant relationships between chronic burden and attrition were evident for those at moderate and higher levels of resiliency. These effects apply similarly across the three components of resiliency. Results imply that interventions should focus on establishing strong social connections, psychological resources, and health-maintaining behaviors when attempting to ameliorate stress-related decline in telomere length among at-risk individuals
Increased Seroreactivity to Glioma-Expressed Antigen 2 in Brain Tumor Patients under Radiation
Background: Surgery and radiation are the mainstays of therapy for human gliomas that are the most common primary brain tumors. Most recently, cell culture and animal studies provided the first convincing evidence that radiation not only eliminates tumor cells, but also modulates the immune response and likely improves anti-tumor immunotherapy. Methology/Pricipal Findings: We present an in vivo study that analyzes the effects of radiation on the immune response in tumor patients. As readout system, we utilized the reactivity of glioma patients ’ sera against antigen GLEA2 as the most frequent antigen immunogenic in glioblastoma patients. We established an ELISA assay to analyze reactivity of 24 glioblastoma patients over a period of several months. As control we used 30 sera from healthy donors as well as 30 sera from lung cancer patients. We compared the course of GLEA2 seroreactivity at different times prior, during and after radiation. The GLEA2 seroreactivity was increased by the time of surgery, decreased after surgery, increased again under radiation, and slightly decreased after radiation. Conclusions/Significance: Our results provide in vivo evidence for an increased antibody response against tumor antigens under radiation. Effect of Microwave Frying on Acrylamide Generation, Mass Transfer, Color, and Texture in French Fries
[EN] The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of microwave power on acrylamide generation, as well as moisture and oil fluxes and quality attributes of microwave-fried potatoes. Concretely, 25 g of potato strips, in 250 mL of fresh oil (at room temperature), were subjected to three different microwave powers (315, 430, and 600 W) in a conventional microwave oven. Microwave frying resulted in an acrylamide reduction ranged from 37 to 83% compared to deep-oil frying. Microwave-fried French fries presented lower moisture and higher fat content than deep-oil fried potatoes. Concretely, microwave-fried potatoes presented values of moisture and texture more similar to potato chips than French fries, nonetheless with lower fat levels (less than 20 g/100 g wb) and acrylamide content (lower than 100 ¿g/kg wb) at the reference time. Children’s Postdisaster Trajectories of PTS Symptoms: Predicting Chronic Distress
BACKGROUND: There are no studies of the distinct trajectories of children’s psychological distress over the first year after a destructive natural disaster and the determinants of these trajectories. OBJECTIVE: We examined these issues using an existing dataset of children exposed to Hurricane Andrew, one of the most devastating natural disasters in US history. METHODS: At 3-months postdisaster, 568 children (55 % girls; grades 3–5) residing in areas most directly affected by the hurricane completed measures of hurricane exposure and stressors, social support, coping, and general anxiety. Children also reported major life events occurring since the hurricane (at 7-months) and posttraumatic stress (PTS) symptoms at 3-, 7-, and 10-months postdisaster. RESULTS: Latent growth mixture modeling identified three trajectories of PTS reactions: resilient (37 %), recovering (43 %), and chronic distress (20 %). Predictors of the trajectories were examined. Odds ratios indicated that, compared to the resilient trajectory, girls were more likely to be in the recovering and chronically distressed trajectories, as were children reporting higher anxiety and greater use of coping strategies that reflected poor emotion regulation. Compared to the recovering trajectory, children in the chronically distressed trajectory had greater odds of reporting high anxiety, less social support, more intervening life events, and greater use of poor emotion regulation strategies. CONCLUSIONS: Hurricane exposure may be less effective in identifying children who develop chronic postdisaster distress than other child (anxiety, coping) and contextual variables (social support, life events). Effective screening after disasters is critical for identifying youth most in need of limited clinical resources
