Infrared characterization of silicon carbide nanowires

    Get PDF
Silicon carbide nanowires have been obtained via combustion synthesis route. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed that the synthesized material is the 3C polytype of silicon carbide with zincblende unit cell. Detailed investigations of such SiC 1D nanostructures were carried out exploiting Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. IR measurements we performed using BRUKER HYPERION FT-IR microscope. For the purpose of comparison, a series of powder samples were examined, including raw synthesis product, purified SiC nanowires and several commercially available microand nanopowders (from Alpha Aesar and PlasmaChem). Comprehensive comparative analysis of the MIR spectra has been performed. When you are citing the document, use the following link http://essuir.sumdu.edu.ua/handle/123456789/2063

More on the extension of linear operators on Riesz spaces

    Get PDF
The classical Kantorovich theorem asserts the existence and uniqueness of a linear extension of a positive additive mapping, defined on the positive cone E+E^+ of a Riesz space EE taking values in an Archimedean Riesz space FF, to the entire space EE. We prove that, if EE has the principal projection property and FF is Dedekind σ\sigma-complete then for every eE+e \in E^+ every positive finitely additive FF-valued measure defined on the Boolean algebra Fe\mathfrak{F}_e of fragments of ee has a unique positive linear extension to the ideal EeE_e of EE generated by ee. If, moreover, the measure is τ\tau-continuous then the linear extension is order continuous

Optical absorption and luminescence studies of fast neutron-irradiated complex oxides for jewellery applications

    No full text
We studied the optical absorption and luminescence of agate (SiO₂), topaz (Al₂[SiO₄](FOH)₂), beryl (Be₃ Al₂Si₆O₁₈), and prehnite (Ca₂Al(AlSi₃O₁₀)(OH)₂) doped with different concentrations of transition metal ions and exposed to fast neutron irradiation. The exchange interaction between the impurity ions and the defects arising under neutron irradiation causes additional absorption as well as bands' broadening in the crystals. These experimental results allow us to suggest the method for obtaining new radiation-defect induced jewellery colors of minerals due to neutron irradiation

Resonant nonlinear optics of backward waves in negative-index metamaterials

The extraordinary properties of resonant four-wave mixing of backward waves in doped negative-index materials are investigated. The feasibility of independent engineering of negative refractive index and nonlinear optical response as well as quantum control of the nonlinear propagation process in such composites is shown due to the coherent energy transfer from the control to the signal field. Laser-induced transparency, quantum switching, frequency-tunable narrow-band filtering, amplification, and realizing a miniature mirrorless optical parametric generator of the entangled backward and ordinary waves are among the possible applications of the investigated processes.Comment: 10 pages, 9 figure

Псориаз и поздняя кожная порфирия, ассоциированная с хроническим гепатитом С при ВИЧ-инфекции (клинические наблюдения)

The continued growth of HIV-infected patients is associated on the one hand, with increase of life expectancy because of antiretroviral therapy, and the other - with high incidence of new cases of HIV-infection. It is important to remember that almost every HIV-infected patient has concomitant disease. The presence of comorbidity increases days of hospitalization, disability, impedes rehabilitation and leads to polypharmacy. Moreover, polypharmacy, particularly in HIV-patients, contributes to a sharp increase of adverse local and systemic side effects of drugs. This article presents the clinical examples of skin diseases in patients with HIV-infection.

Ranges of vector states on irreducible operator semigroups

This is a post-peer-review, pre-copyedit version of an article published in Semigroup Forum. The final authenticated version is available online at: https://doi.org/10.1007/s00233-015-9772-7Let be a linear functional of rank one acting on an irreducible semigroup S of operators on a finite- or infinite-dimensional Hilbert space. It is a well-known and simple fact that the range of cannot be a singleton. We start a study of possible finite ranges for such functionals. In particular, we prove that in certain cases, the existence of a single such functional with a two-element range yields valuable information on the structure of S.Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Counci

Double exponential stability of quasi-periodic motion in Hamiltonian systems

    Get PDF
We prove that generically, both in a topological and measure-theoretical sense, an invariant Lagrangian Diophantine torus of a Hamiltonian system is doubly exponentially stable in the sense that nearby solutions remain close to the torus for an interval of time which is doubly exponentially large with respect to the inverse of the distance to the torus. We also prove that for an arbitrary small perturbation of a generic integrable Hamiltonian system, there is a set of almost full positive Lebesgue measure of KAM tori which are doubly exponentially stable. Our results hold true for real-analytic but more generally for Gevrey smooth systems

Measurement of xF3xF_3 and F2F_2 Structure Functions in Low Q2Q^2 Region with the IHEP-JINR Neutrino Detector

The isoscalar structure functions xF3xF_3 and F2F_2 are measured as functions of xx averaged over all Q2Q^2 permissible for the range of 6 to 28 GeV of incident neutrino (anti-neutrino) energy at the IHEP-JINR Neutrino Detector. The QCD analysis of xF3xF_3 structure function provides ΛMSˉ(4)=(411±200)\Lambda_{\bar{MS}}^{(4)} = (411 \pm 200) MeV under the assumption of QCD validity in the region of low Q2Q^2. The corresponding value of the strong interaction constant αS(MZ)=0.1230.013+0.010\alpha_S (M_Z) = 0.123^{+0.010}_{-0.013} agrees with the recent result of the CCFR collaboration and with the combined LEP/SLC result.Comment: 11 pages, 1 Postscript figure, LaTeX.
