Results of studying of the general presence of water in tissues of leaves, water deficiency in the leaves, waterkeeping ability and resistance against of dehydration plants of Gleditsia triacanthos L. are resulted. In comparison with plants Quercus robur L., Robinia pseudoacacia L., Elaeagnus angustifolia L., Sophora japonica L. in the plantings in conditions of Southern Steppe of Ukraine. Wood plants are allo cated on groups on a degree of their drought resistance and the interrelation between waterkeeping ability of tissues of leaves and restoration of turgor after dehydration is established.

Quintessence and variation of the fine structure constant in the CMBR

We study dependence of the CMB temperature anisotropy spectrum on the value of the fine structure constant α\alpha and the equation of state of the dark energy component of the total density of the universe. We find that bounds imposed on the variation of α\alpha from the analysis of currently available CMB data sets can be significantly relaxed if one also allows for a change in the equation of state.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures. Enhanced T-odd P-odd Electromagnetic Moments in Reflection Asymmetric Nuclei

    Get PDF
Collective P- and T- odd moments produced by parity and time invariance violating forces in reflection asymmetric nuclei are considered. The enhanced collective Schiff, electric dipole and octupole moments appear due to the mixing of rotational levels of opposite parity. These moments can exceed single-particle moments by more than two orders of magnitude. The enhancement is due to the collective nature of the intrinsic moments and the small energy separation between members of parity doublets. In turn these nuclear moments induce enhanced T- and P- odd effects in atoms and molecules. First a simple estimate is given and then a detailed theoretical treatment of the collective T-, P- odd electric moments in reflection asymmetric, odd-mass nuclei is presented and various corrections evaluated. Calculations are performed for octupole deformed long-lived odd-mass isotopes of Rn, Fr, Ra, Ac and Pa and the corresponding atoms. Experiments with such atoms may improve substantially the limits on time reversal violation.Comment: 28 pages, Revte

Experimental evidence on the ground-state energy of 229^{229}Pa

The E1 transition from the 3/2^- state to the ground state of 229^{229}Pa was identified in the (p,tγ\gamma) reaction. Its energy is found to be 11.6(3) keV. This leads to a value of Q_{\makebox{g.s.}} = -4133(2) keV and to a mass defect of 229^{229}Pa of 29 894(3) keV. It is concluded that the ground-state configuration of 229^{229}Pa is 3/2[651]
