Solutions of some partial differential equations with variable coefficients by properties of monogenic functions
In this paper we study some partial differential equations by using properties of Gateaux differentiable functions on commutative algebra. It is proved that components of differentiable functions satisfy some partial differential equations with coefficients related with properties of bases of subspaces of the corresponding algebra
Lixiviación ácida de licoo2 proveniente de libs: estudio termodinámico y del efecto de un agente reductor
This work shows the results of a comparative hydrometallurgical study of LiCoO2 leaching, obtained from the cathodesof spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), with HF and HF/H2O2. The operational parameters researched were H2O2 and HFconcentrations, solid-liquid ratio, stirring speed, temperature and reaction time. The experimental results indicated that the bestworking conditions, with dissolution values close to 100%, were 348 K, 330 rpm, 30 min, 8 g/L, HF 0.6 M and H2O2 0.7 M.Thermodynamic study of the dissociation of HF in aqueous solution and EH-pH diagrams for Li-H2O, Co-H2O and Li-Co-F-H2Osystems were performed. The results showed the feasibility of extracting and recovering metals contained in the sample. Keywords: LiCoO2, LIBs, reducing agent, thermodynamicFil: Pinna, Eliana Guadalupe. Absence of static magnetic order in lightly-doped Ti1-xScxOCl down to 1.7 K
Impurity-induced magnetic order has been observed in many quasi-1D systems
including doped variants of the spin-Peierls system CuGeO3. TiOCl is another
quasi-1D quantum magnet with a spin-Peierls ground state, and the magnetic Ti
sites of this system can be doped with non-magnetic Sc. To investigate the role
of non-magnetic impurities in this system, we have performed both zero field
and longitudinal field muSR experiments on polycrystalline Ti1-xScxOCl samples
with x = 0, 0.01, and 0.03. We verified that TiOCl has a non-magnetic ground
state, and we found no evidence for spin freezing or magnetic ordering in the
lightly-doped Sc samples down to 1.7 K. Our results instead suggest that these
systems remain non-magnetic up to the x = 0.03 Sc doping level.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Quantized Skyrmion Fields in 2+1 Dimensions
A fully quantized field theory is developped for the skyrmion topological
excitations of the O(3) symmetric CP-Nonlinear Sigma Model in 2+1D. The
method allows for the obtainment of arbitrary correlation functions of quantum
skyrmion fields. The two-point function is evaluated in three different
situations: a) the pure theory; b) the case when it is coupled to fermions
which are otherwise non-interacting and c) the case when an electromagnetic
interaction among the fermions is introduced. The quantum skyrmion mass is
explicitly obtained in each case from the large distance behavior of the
two-point function and the skyrmion statistics is inferred from an analysis of
the phase of this function. The ratio between the quantum and classical
skyrmion masses is obtained, confirming the tendency, observed in semiclassical
calculations, that quantum effects will decrease the skyrmion mass. A brief
discussion of asymptotic skyrmion states, based on the short distance behavior
of the two-point function, is also presented.Comment: Accepted for Physical Review
Decoupling of the S=1/2 antiferromagnetic zig-zag ladder with anisotropy
The spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic zig-zag ladder is studied by exact
diagonalization of small systems in the regime of weak inter-chain coupling. A
gapless phase with quasi long-range spiral correlations has been predicted to
occur in this regime if easy-plane (XY) anisotropy is present. We find in
general that the finite zig-zag ladder shows three phases: a gapless collinear
phase, a dimer phase and a spiral phase. We study the level crossings of the
spectrum, the dimer correlation function, the structure factor and the spin
stiffness within these phases, as well as at the transition points. As the
inter-chain coupling decreases we observe a transition in the anisotropic XY
case from a phase with a gap to a gapless phase that is best described by two
decoupled antiferromagnetic chains. The isotropic and the anisotropic XY cases
are found to be qualitatively the same, however, in the regime of weak
inter-chain coupling for the small systems studied here. We attribute this to a
finite-size effect in the isotropic zig-zag case that results from
exponentially diverging antiferromagnetic correlations in the weak-coupling
limit.Comment: to appear in Physical Review
A Systematic Study on Energy Dependence of Quasi-Periodic Oscillation Frequency in GRS 1915+105
Systematically studying all the RXTE/PCA observations for GRS 1915+105 before
November 2010, we have discovered three additional patterns in the relation
between Quasi-Periodic Oscillation (QPO) frequency and photon energy, extending
earlier outcomes reported by Qu et al. (2010). We have confirmed that as QPO
frequency increases, the relation evolves from the negative correlation to
positive one. The newly discovered patterns provide new constraints on the QPO
models
Effect of UV-aging on the mechanical and fracture behavior of low density polyethylene
This research is possible by the NPRP award (NPRP 7-1562-2-571) from the Qatar National Research Fund (a member of The Qatar Foundation). The statements made herein are solely the re-sponsibility of the authors. Special thanks to the Qatar Petro-chemical Company (QAPCO) for providing the film materials of the study and for fruitful discussions with Dr. Mabrouk Ouederni. In polyethylene, a transient, oxidation-induced strengthening is often observed over a narrow range of UV radiation dose. In addition, plastic deformation may not be volume-preserving due to cavitation. Here, we employ a suite of analytical experiments and mechanical testing on pristine and oxidized low-density polyethylene films in order to investigate the transient strengthening behavior as well as the propensity for cavitation to fracture. Emphasis is laid on connecting macroscopically observed behavior with microscopic information involving the competition between multi-scale phenomena: chain scission and cross linking at a fine scale, chemi-crystallization, oxidation-induced cracking and mechanical damage at the meso and coarse scales. The results provide an insight into the role of cavitation in the oxidative embrittlement of semicrystalline polymers
The Trispectrum in the Multi-brid Inflation
The trispectrum is at least as important as the bispectrum and its size can
be characterized by two parameters and . In this short
paper, we focus on the Multi-brid inflation, in particular the two-brid
inflation model in arXiv.0805.0974, and find that is always
positive and roughly equals to for the low scale
inflation, but can be negative or positive and its order of magnitude
can be the same as that of or even largerComment: 12 pages; minor correction, refs added; further refs added, version

Large non-Gaussianity from two-component hybrid inflation
We study the generation of non-Gaussianity in models of hybrid inflation with
two inflaton fields, (2-brid inflation). We analyse the region in the parameter
and the initial condition space where a large non-Gaussianity may be generated
during slow-roll inflation which is generally characterised by a large f_NL,
tau_NL and a small g_NL. For certain parameter values we can satisfy
tau_NL>>f_NL^2. The bispectrum is of the local type but may have a significant
scale dependence. We show that the loop corrections to the power spectrum and
bispectrum are suppressed during inflation, if one assume that the fields
follow a classical background trajectory. We also include the effect of the
waterfall field, which can lead to a significant change in the observables
after the waterfall field is destabilised, depending on the couplings between
the waterfall and inflaton fields.Comment: 16 pages, 6 figures; v2: comments and references added, typos
