Mean-field Phase Diagram of Two-Dimensional Electrons with Disorder in a Weak Magnetic Field

We study two-dimensional interacting electrons in a weak perpendicular magnetic field with the filling factor ν1\nu \gg 1 and in the presence of a quenched disorder. In the framework of the Hartree-Fock approximation, we obtain the mean-field phase diagram for the partially filled highest Landau level. We find that the CDW state can exist if the Landau level broadening 1/2τ1/2\tau does not exceed the critical value 1/2τc=0.038ωH1/2\tau_{c}=0.038\omega_{H}. Our analysis of weak crystallization corrections to the mean-field results shows that these corrections are of the order of (1/ν)2/31(1/\nu)^{2/3}\ll 1 and therefore can be neglected

The article deals with one of the most energetically and ecologically effective technologies of wood drying. Special construction polystyrene wall blocks are used as frame fillings of experimental the drying chamber according to the technology “Plastbau”, known with its ability to improved heat-insulating properties. The results of the experimental study of the thermal regime show the high energy and ecological efficiency of this wood drying technology.

    Contextual Mediation of Cognitive Activity

The article presents an analysis of the effect of context in cognitive activity. Contextual influences are expressed in changes of productivity and time of problem solving under the influence of actual irrelevant information or previously formed knowledge structures. The importance of studying contextual variables stems from their fundamental role in cognitive processes. Examples of contextual mediation are the effects of dependence of perception of an object (figure) on the perceptual environment (background), priming effects, effects of awareness of multivalued information, effects of context-dependent memory, effects of contextual cues, effects of functional fixation in solving thinking tasks, etc. By analogy with types of memory it is proposed to differentiate ultra-short-term, short-term and long-term (stable) contexts. A prospect in the study of contextual influences can become the study of types and character of interaction of contexts having different characteristics. The latter include: "homogeneity/heterogeneity" of the context, "relevance/irrelevance" to the task, "power" - the integration of local contexts in a single context, "congruence/dissociation" as the correspondence/dissimilarity of different contexts to each other.</p

Double-crystal setup measurements at the CERN SPS

In this paper, we discuss an experimental layout for the two-crystals scenario at the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) accelerator. The research focuses on a fixed target setup at the circulating machine in a frame of the Physics Beyond Colliders (PBC) project at CERN. The UA9 experiment at the SPS serves as a testbench for the proof of concept, which is planning to be projected onto the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) scale. The presented in the text configuration was used for the quantitative characterization of the deflected particle beam by a pair of bent silicon crystals. For the first time in the double-crystal configuration, a particle deflection efficiency by the second crystal of 0.188±31050.188 \pm 3 \cdot 10^{-5} and 0.179±0.0130.179 \pm 0.013 was measured on the accelerator by means of the Timepix detector and Beam Loss Monitor (BLM) respectively. In this setup, a wide range angular scan allowed a possibility to \textit{in situ} investigate different crystal working regimes (channeling, volume reflection, etc.), and to measure a bent crystal torsion
