The mass and width of the lowest lying S-wave spin singlet charmonium state, the eta_c, are measured using a data sample of 1.06x10^8 psi' decays collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. We use a model that incorporates interference between the signal reaction, psi' -> gamma eta_c, and a non-resonant radiative background to successfully describe the line shape of the eta_c. We measure the eta_c mass to be 2984.3 +- 0.6 +- 0.6 MeV/c^2 and the total width to be 32.0 +- 1.2 +- 1.0 MeV, where the first errors are statistical and the second are systematic.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figure, 1 table, matches Phys.
Purpose: Evaluation of the clinical features of simple myopic astigmatism.
Methods: In the framework of the follow-up observation of surveyed 64 patients (128 eyes) with the phenomena of simple myopic astigmatism in both eyes without concomitant ocular pathology.
Results: the most common are weak (up to 1.0 D — 42%, 1.25-2.0 D — 28%) of the value, expressed astigmatism (more than 2.0 D) is observed in 30% of cases. In terms of direct myopic astigmatism up to 1.0 D the most characteristic visual acuity is 0.6-0.7, when the value of astigmatism from 1.25 up to 2.0 D the most frequently noted visual acuity is 0.3-0.5. the indicator of «primary use» statistically significantly depended on the indicator «astenopic complaints» (correlation coefficient was 0.59 is 0.72, p<0.0001).
Conclusion: the emergence of the patient with visually-intensive work (especially working in conditions of shortage of time) re- quires of excimer laser correction for the preservation of visual capacity and the required level of professional reliability, as well as the extension of the professional longevity of the body of view.</p

Lower Permian carbonate buildups in the northern Timan-Pechora basin as the main hydrocarbon exploration object

    No full text
Organogenic buildups named as carbonate mounds are widespread in Lower Permian deposits in the northern Timan-Pechora basin and are of great interest to the oil-and-gas industry as natural hydrocarbon reservoirs. Their distribution and textural features were controlled by seabed morphology, sea level changes, and specific paleoecology of the Early Permian period. In contrast to classic reefs, these buildups were not able to form large accumulative landforms that changed the hydrodynamics and paleogeography of sedimentary basins. The results of this study allowed us to divide the Lower Permian carbonate buildups into two types: (1) skeletal mounds formed primarily by algae andPalaeoaplysinacommunities; (2) microbial mounds composed of microbial assemblages. Identification of these mounds based on seismic data usually does not meet any difficulties. However, their texture, peculiarities of reservoir distribution, and variations of their properties are often unreflected in the characteristics of seismic waves due to limitations of the seismic survey resolution. The sedimentation modeling describes spatiotemporal relationships of the identified lithofacies characterized by different reservoir potential. Application of these results during the seismic interpretation increases significantly reliability of the forecast of carbonate reservoir properties

Purpose: to assess the effectiveness of pre-operative therapeutic eyelid hygiene in the prevention and treatment of dry eye and meibomian glands dysfunction following excimer laser vision surgery. Methods: In enrolled 144 patients (288 eyes), ocular surface and meibomian glands functions were evaluated before and following refractive surgery (LASIK and REIK). In pre- and post-operative period, standard ophthalmological studies were performed, including best-corrected visual acuity determination, biomicroscopy, Schirmer’s test and Norn’s test (tear break-up time). In pre-operative pe- riod, ocular surface microbial profile was assessed. Subjective symptoms of impaired tear production were revealed via questioning. In study group (70 patients, 140 eyes), therapeutic eyelid hygiene using Blefarogel 1 or Blefarogel 2 (Ltd. Heltec-Medica, Moscow, Russia) was prescribed one week before surgery. In control group, no therapeutic eyelid hygiene was prescribed. All patients were received antibacterial treatment including Vigamox (Alcon, Fort Worth, tX). In both groups, Natural tears and Systane Ultra (Alcon) were used as tear replacement therapy. Results: Complex treatment, including therapeutic eyelid hygiene in study group, significantly improved tear film and ocular sur- face health as well as meibomian glands functions. Inflammatory complications rate was estimated as 5.7% in study group and 10.6% in control group. Conclusion: therapeutic eyelid hygiene is highly effective in the prophylaxis and treatment of post-operative complications duу to ocular surface pathology and meibomian glands dysfunction. the procedure is safe and can be recommended as a part of complex preventive treatment before excimer laser vision correction

Purpose: to analyze the effect of eyelid hygiene and therapy on early post-op period following excimer laser refractive surgery. Methods: 144 patients (288 eyes) aged 18-57 yrs who underwent excimer laser vision correction (LASIK) were followed. All patients were divided into two groups depending on therapy. In treatment group (70 patients/140 eyes), eyelid hygiene was prescribed 7 days before and 7 days again following refractive surgery for 1 or 2 months. In control group (74 patients/148 eyes), no eyelid hygiene was prescribed. Results: Complex method of eyelid hygiene and therapy was developed that consisted in eyelid margins self-massage using Blepharogel 1 or Blepharogel 2 and warm compresses using Blepharopads impregnated with Blepharolotion. When using in combina- tion with antibacterial and tear replacement therapy, this method provides significant decrease in infectious complications rate and effective recovery of tear production in early post-op period following excimer laser surgery. these observations are confirmed by the dynamics of clinical, functional and subjective parameters. Conclusion: 7-days eyelid hygiene and therapy course that is prescribed immediately before and following laser vision correctionprovides multi-factorial effect, i.e., reduces post-op inflammatory complications rate and increases tear film stability

A novel method of complex evaluation of meibomian glands morphological and functional state

A novel method that provides complex assessment of meibomian glands morphological and functional state — biometry of meibomian glands — was developed. The results of complex examination (including meibomian glands biometry), correlation analysis data and clinical findings demonstrate direct association between the objective (i.e., meibomian glands dysfunction by biomicroscopy, tear film break-up time / TBUT, symptomatic TBUT, compression testing) and subjective signs of meibomian glands dysfunction (patient’s complaints) and the parameters of meibomian glands biometry. High direct correlation between biometrical index and compression test result was revealed (p = 0.002, Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient = 0.6644). Meibomian glands dysfunction is characterized by biometric parameters abnormalities, i.e., dilatation of meibomian glands orifices, decrease of distance between meibomian glands orifices, partial or total atrophy of meibomian glands (even up to gland collapse with its visual reduction and increase of distance between the glands). The suppression of inflammatory process and the recovery of meibomian glands secretion improve biometric parameters and result in the opening of meibomian glands orifices, liquefaction of clogs, evacuation of meibomian glands secretion, narrowing of meibomian glands orifices and increase of distance between them. The proposed method expands the armamentarium of meibomian glands dysfunction and lipid-deficient dry eye diagnosing. Meibomian glands biometry can be applied in specialized ophthalmological hospitals and outpatient departments. It is a simple procedure of short duration that does not require any special equipment or professional skills. Meibomian glands biometry enables to prescribe pathogenically targeted therapy and to improve quality of life
