Towards a Learning-Aware Application Guided by Hierarchical Classification of Learner Profiles

    Get PDF
Learner profiling is a methodology that draws a parallel from user profiling. Implicit feedback is often used in recommender systems to create and adapt user profiles. In this work the implicit feedback is based on the learner's answering behaviour in the Android application UnlockYourBrain, which poses different basic mathematical questions to the learners. We introduce an analytical approach to model the learners' profile according to the learner's answering behaviour. Furthermore, similar learner's profiles are grouped together to construct a learning behaviour cluster. The choice of hierarchical clustering as a means of classification of learners' profiles derives from the observations of learners behaviour. This in turn reflects the similarities and subtle differences of learner behaviour, which are further analysed in more detail. Building awareness about the learner's behaviour is the first and necessary step for future learning-aware applications

Kekerabatan Genetik Anakan Alam Ulin (Eusideroxylon Zwageri Teijsm. & Binn.) Menggunakan Penanda Random Amplified Polymorphism Dna

The study aimed to assess genetic diversity and genetic relationship of ulin wildlings randomly collected from a nursery and originated from Bukit Soeharto natural forest, East Kalimantan. DNA templates were extracted from leaf samples of 1.5 years old wildings. Five RAPD primers consisted 55 polymorphic loci were used for genetic studies. Genetic diversity and relationship were analyzed using GenAlex software. The results showed moderate mean value of genetic diversity (HE=0,345, SE 0,015) of the wildings. Forty eight wildings were clustered in only 3 groups; almost all wildings (65%) were clustered in one main cluster. Moreover, 4 wildlings were clones (8%). In conclusion, the 48 wildings of ulin consisted high genetic relationship and individual clones that reflects the low genetic diversity of this species

Increasing childhood vaccination coverage of the refugee and migrant population in greece through the european programme philos, april 2017 to april 2018

After the 2016 Balkan route border closures, vaccination of refugee children in Greece was mainly performed by non-governmental organisations. Activities varied between camps, resulting in heterogeneity of vaccination coverage (VC). In April 2017, the European programme ‘PHILOS - Emergency health response to refugee crisis’ took over vaccination coordination. Interventions were planned for the first time for refugee children in the community and unaccompanied minors at safe zones. From April 2017-April 2018, 57,615 vaccinations were performed against measlesmumps- rubella (MMR) (21,031), diphtheria-tetanuspertussis (7,341), poliomyelitis (7,652), pneumococcal disease (5,938), Haemophilus influenzae type b (7,179) and hepatitis B (8,474). In April 2018, the vaccination status of children at camps (reception and identification centres and community facilities such as hostels/ hotels were excluded) was recorded and VC for each disease, stratified by dose, nationality and camp size, was calculated. More than 80% of the children received the first MMR dose, with VC dropping to 45% for the second dose. For all other vaccines, VC was < 50% for the first dose in children aged 0-4 years and < 25% for the second dose. Despite challenges, PHILOS improved planning and monitoring of vaccination activities; however, further efforts towards improving VC in refugee children are needed. © 2019, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). Performance of Gelatin Films Reinforced with Cloisite Na+ and Black Pepper Essential Oil Loaded Nanoemulsion

The concern about consuming eco-friendly products has motivated research in the development of new materials. Therefore, films based on natural polymers have been used to replace traditional polymers. This study consists of a production of films based on gelatin reinforced with black pepper essential oil-loaded nanoemulsions and Cloisite Na+. The films were characterized by water vapor permeability, mechanical and thermal properties, surface contact angle, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. It was observed that the films containing the nanoemulsion have higher permeability values and an increase in their mechanical resistance. The addition of nanoclay contributed to an increase in the surface hydrophobicity of the film and an increase in the tensile strength, at break, by about 150%. The addition of essential oil nanoemulsions led to an increase in thermal stability. The presence of clay dispersion contributed to the formation of a surface that was slightly rougher and grainier. The addition of the black pepper essential oil nanoemulsion resulted in an increase in porosity of the gelatin matrix. Through X-ray diffraction analysis, it was possible to conclude that both the polymeric gelatin matrix and the essential oils nanoemulsion are intercalated with the clay dispersion
