Changes in the pumping function of the heart (cardiac output) were studied in athletic tourists and untrained subjects during a PWC170 test. It was confirmed that regular training remarkably improves the pumping function of the heart. At rest and during the PWC170 test, the athletes exhibited more pronounced changes in the cardiac output than their untrained counterparts. © MAIK Nauka 2008

The purpose of the present research was to study motor agility and heart rate indices in athletes engaged in physical exercises differing by the character of performance. The research results of special agility physical exercise facilitated allocation of the features of heart rate change and manifestation of motor agility depending on the tes-tees' sex and character of performance of pysical exercise by athletes within competitive activity. The studies proved that the level of agility development and heart rate change in conditions of performance of special agility physical exercise, depend on the character of competitive exercise and type of motor activity. The technique of agility allocation subjected by the researchers and the worked apparatus were proved to be effective in practical use since they do not require additional charges at further operation. The apparatus is small and comfortable in transportation. The subjected technique can be applied while determining agility in children at specialized children's sport school on the first stages of sports selection in kinds of sport where result mostly depends on the physical quality of agility

Bifunctional derivatives of (Thia)calix[4]arenes with terminal double and triple bonds: Synthesis and azide-alkyne click reactions

The synthesis of bifunctional derivatives of calix[4]arene and its thia-analogue containing double and triple bonds in 1,3-alternate and partial cone conformations was performed. The effect of tert-butyl groups at the upper rim of the macrocycle on the stereochemical result of the reaction is shown. Triple bonds of the synthesized bifunctional compounds readily undergo Cu(I)-catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions with azides. © ISUCT Publishing

Syntheses of a phosphoramidite reagent for 5'-phosphorylation of oligonucleotides, and of a modified solid-phase support (controlled pore glass, CPG) for 3'-phosphate modification of oligonucleotides are described. Efficasy of the reagents has been confirmed by the synthesis of phosphorylated oligonucleotides. The oligonucleotides have been analyzed by electrophoresis and HPLC.

Magnetic resonant and non-resonant investigations of LiLnF4 (Ln = Y, Tm) powders

The properties of dielectric powders of the Van Vleck paramagnet LiTmF4 and its diamagnetic analogue LiYF4 have been investigated by both resonant methods (EPR, NMR, and the mass-spectroscopy) and non-resonant ones (conductometry and magnetization measurement). On the basis of experimental data and theoretical calculations a self-consistent model for the magnetic and other properties of these powders is suggested. Two structural phase transitions induced by the magnetic field are discovered in fine LiTmF4 powder at low temperature in a high magnetic field

The contradictory influence of parents on the motivation and athletic achievements of young athletes requires the justification of new approaches in working with them. The purpose of the work was to develop and test a program to improve the psychological and pedagogical competence of young football players’ parents and evaluate its effectiveness in terms of psychological training of young football players. The experiment involved young football players at the age of 10 to 11 years, and 34 parents of young athletes. All participants were divided into a control and an experimental group. The study revealed that the work carried out by the coach to educate parents contributes to improving the psychological and pedagogical competence of parents, which was reflected in higher results in assessing their knowledge. It was revealed that in the experimental group, young football players have higher confidence indicators regarding their readiness for competitive activity, they also have higher ratings regarding the positive perception of their capabilities by the coach and parents, that is consistent with lower indicators of personal and competitive anxiety. The data obtained indicates the possibility of improving the psychological training of young football players through improving the competence of their parents
