The impedance of anodic processes on passive NiSi-electrode in sulfuric fluoride containing electrolyte

The mechanism and kinetics of anodic oxidation of the Ni-Si electrode in solutions of 0.5 M H2SO4 + (0,005 – 0,05)M NaF in the passive state were investigated by methods of polarization and impedance measurements. The impedance spectra are interpreted on the assumption about the formation of the bilayer oxide film on the surface of the silicide nickel, the outer layer which has a porous structure. The growth of the porous layer with the increase of the electrode potential in the investigated solutions is linearly (constant anodizing is 2.2 nm/V). The increase in NaF concentration leads to a decrease in the thickness of the porous layer. The growth of the barrier layer of the oxide film was described in the framework of the model of point defects. The diffusion coefficient of oxygen vacancies inside the barrier layer of the film is 8.5 · 10–16 cm2/s and varies weakly with the potential and the content of sodium fluoride in solution. Microscopic and profilometric studies show the development of the surface of the NiSi electrode during anodic etching. The work is executed at financial support of RFBR under research project No. 14-03-31016

A relative biological effectiveness of 1 is accepted for soft X-rays (25–30 kV), which are applied in diagnostic radiology (mammography). However, it has been shown that soft X-rays can be more effective in cell killing and chromosomal damage. The present study was initiated to define biological effects of low-energy X-rays in vitro. Experiments were performed with 25 kV X-rays and 200 kV reference X-rays on neonatal human keratinocytes (HEKn), and NIH/3T3 mouse fibroblasts. Cell survival was studied with graded doses in a clonogenic assay, chromosomal damage in a micronucleus (MN) assay. The surviving fraction at 2 Gy for keratinocytes was 46±5% after 200 kV and 33±11% after 25 kV X-rays. Linear-quadratic cell survival analysis yielded α=0.305±0.033 Gy-1 and β=0.048±0.011 Gy-2 for 200 kV and α=0.399±0.103 Gy-1 and β=0.048±0.054 Gy-2 for 25 kV. For 3T3 fibroblasts an SF2 of 53±3% after 200 kV and 61±18% after 25 kV was observed. Values of α=0.24±0.02 Gy-1 and β=0.022±0.002 Gy-2 for 200 kV and α=0.10±0.05 Gy-1 and β=0.070±0.010 Gy-2 for 25 kV were derived. In conclusion, keratinocyte survival was similar for both radiation qualities. For fibroblasts, a reduction in survival at higher doses was observed. Results from MN studies will be presented

Abstract: In the paper a new class of linear operators was introduced: linear operator B is said to be right-side hyperbolic, if operators B − λ I are right-sided invertible for any λ from a neighborhood of the unit circle and moreover one can specify right-side resolvent R r (B; λ ) namely a family of right inverse to B − λ I analytic in λ . In the paper general form of right-side resolvents is given. We also discuss a distinguishes with the hyperbolic case

Labour relations in research of socio-economic systems

    Get PDF
The article is concerned with the study of the theoretical and methodological patterns of the genesis of labour relations during evolution of socio-economic systems. The approach developed by the authors makes it possible to single out the basic blocks of the labour relations system, considering the actors and objects of the relations. Adopted as a basis, such an approach makes it possible to describe the labour relations of any economic system. The allocation of mandatory elements (objects) and subjects in the structure of labour relations makes it possible to disclose the content of the category “labour relations”. The relevance of theoretical studies of the characteristics of the economy at a substantial level, the increased interest in the methodology and theory of economic knowledge is due to the inconsistency and alternativeness of the current stage of development of the world economy and global society. For Russian society, such studies are determined by the exceptional complexity of transformation processes and the prospects for its evolution.peer-reviewe

Human capital as a base for regional development : a case study

    Get PDF
Purpose: The main aim of this article is to consider the main trends observed in the labor market in the regional agricultural sector. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study uses the statistical method, the method of analogy and comparison, as well as the positive and normative approach. Findings: The study indicated that in the agricultural sector there are several problems associated with the formation of human resources. This is evidenced by the presence of negative trends that have been observed over the past 20 years. The main problems are the low educational level of workers, aging professional staff, and a reduction in the number of employees in all positions. Practical implications: The socio-economic problems considered in the article indicate the urgent need to develop a mechanism of state support for agricultural workers. Originality/Value: The authors define the concept of human capital and reveal the essence of the factors influencing its formation, revealing them from the perspective of the socio-economic development of the region.peer-reviewe

Natronoflexus pectinivorans gen. nov. sp. nov., an obligately anaerobic and alkaliphilic fermentative member of Bacteroidetes from soda lakes

    Get PDF
Anaerobic enrichment with pectin at pH 10 and moderate salinity inoculated with sediments from soda lakes of the Kulunda Steppe (Altai, Russia) resulted in the isolation of a novel member of the Bacteroidetes, strain AP1T. The cells are long, flexible, Gram-negative rods forming pink carotenoids. The isolate is an obligate anaerobe, fermenting various carbohydrates to acetate and succinate. It can hydrolyze and utilize pectin, xylan, starch, laminarin and pullulan as growth substrates. Growth is possible in a pH range from 8 to 10.5, with an optimum at pH 9.5, and at a salinity range from 0.1 to 2 M Na+. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA sequences placed the isolate into the phylum Bacteroidetes as a separate lineage within the family Marinilabilaceae. On the basis of distinct phenotype and phylogeny, the soda lake isolate AP1T is proposed to be assigned in a new genus and species Natronoflexus pectinivorans (=DSM24179T = UNIQEM U807T)

Seeking an optimal variant calling pipeline for medical genetics

Accurate and comprehensive variant discovery is extremely important for rare disease diagnostics using next-generation sequencing (NGS) methods. Over the recent years, a plethora of methods have been developed for short variant calling from NGS data, and the most recent tools extensively use machine learning algorithms for both variant discovery and filtering. In our study, we took an effort to systematically evaluate the performance of different pipelines for short variant calling in the human genome. To perform such a systematic comparison, we collected a large dataset of both “gold standard” (provided by the Genome In A Bottle (GIAB) consortium) and in-house wholeexome sequencing (WES) and whole-genome sequencing (WGS) datasets. (a total of 20 different datasets was used). We tested all combinations of 4 popular short read aligners (BWA, Bowtie2, Isaac, and Novoalign) and 9 novel and well-established variant calling and filtering methods (Freebayes, Clair3, DeepVariant, Genome Analysis ToolKit (GATK), Octopus, Strelka2). We also used several different tools for preprocessing of short reads. Our analysis showed negligible effects of adapter trimming on the accuracy of short variant calling. Among read aligners, Bowtie2 performed significantly worse than other tools, suggesting it should not be used for medical variant calling. For pipelines based on BWA, Isaac, and Novoalign, the accuracy of variant discovery mostly depended on the variant caller and not the read aligner. DeepVariant consistently showed the best performance and the greatest robustness compared to all other tested variant callers. We have also compared the consistency of variant calls in GIAB and non-GIAB samples. With few important caveats, best-performing tools have shown little evidence of overfitting. Taken together, our study showed that modern strategies for NGS data analysis allow for high accuracy of genetic variant discovery within coding regions of the human genome. However, there is still a need for development of new library preparation and variant calling methods to enhance variant discovery in the challenging regions of the human genome.Book of abstract: 4th Belgrade Bioinformatics Conference, June 19-23, 202
