Improved Line Data for the Swan System 12C13C Isotopologue
We present new, accurate predictions for rotational line positions, excitation energies, and transition probabilities of the 12C 13C isotopologue Swan d3Π-a3Π system 0-0, 0-1, 0-2, 1-0, 1-1, 1-2, 2-0, 2-1, and 2-2 vibrational bands. The line positions and energy levels were predicted through new analyses of published laboratory data for the 12C13C lines. Transition probabilities were derived from recent computations of transition dipole moments and related quantities. The 12C13C line data were combined with similar data for 12C2, reported in a companion paper, and applied to produce synthetic spectra of carbon-rich metal-poor stars that have strong C2 Swan bands. The matches between synthesized and observed spectra were used to estimate band head positions for a few of the 12C13C vibrational bands and to verify that the new computed line data match observed spectra. The much weaker C2 lines of the bright red giant Arcturus were also synthesized in the band head regions. © 2014. The American Astronomical Society
and bifurcations in rotational bands of diatomic molecules
It is shown that the recently observed bifurcation seen in
superdeformed nuclear bands is also occurring in rotational bands of diatomic
molecules. In addition, signs of a bifurcation, of the same order
of magnitude as the one, are observed both in superdeformed
nuclear bands and rotational bands of diatomic molecules.Comment: LaTex twice, 10 pages and 5 PS figures provided upon demand by the

Spectroscopic Constants, Abundances, and Opacities of the TiH Molecule
Using previous measurements and quantum chemical calculations to derive the
molecular properties of the TiH molecule, we obtain new values for its
ro-vibrational constants, thermochemical data, spectral line lists, line
strengths, and absorption opacities. Furthermore, we calculate the abundance of
TiH in M and L dwarf atmospheres and conclude that it is much higher than
previously thought. We find that the TiH/TiO ratio increases strongly with
decreasing metallicity, and at high temperatures can exceed unity. We suggest
that, particularly for subdwarf L and M dwarfs, spectral features of TiH near
0.52 \mic, 0.94 \mic, and in the band may be more easily measureable
than heretofore thought. The recent possible identification in the L subdwarf
2MASS J0532 of the 0.94 \mic feature of TiH is in keeping with this
expectation. We speculate that looking for TiH in other dwarfs and subdwarfs
will shed light on the distinctive titanium chemistry of the atmospheres of
substellar-mass objects and the dimmest stars.Comment: 37 pages, including 4 figures and 13 tables, accepted to the

Some results on the eigenfunctions of the quantum trigonometric Calogero-Sutherland model related to the Lie algebra E6
The quantum trigonometric Calogero-Sutherland models related to Lie algebras
admit a parametrization in which the dynamical variables are the characters of
the fundamental representations of the algebra. We develop here this approach
for the case of the exceptional Lie algebra E6.Comment: 17 pages, no figure
Isotopic Production Cross Sections in Proton-Nucleus Collisions at 200 MeV
Intermediate mass fragments (IMF) from the interaction of Al,
Co and Au with 200 MeV protons were measured in an angular range
from 20 degree to 120 degree in the laboratory system. The fragments, ranging
from isotopes of helium up to isotopes of carbon, were isotopically resolved.
Double differential cross sections, energy differential cross sections and
total cross sections were extracted.Comment: accepted by Phys. Rev.
Einstein A Coefficients and Oscillator Strengths for the A 2Π-X2Σ+ (Red) and B 2Σ+-X2Σ+ (Violet) Systems and Rovibrational Transitions in the X2Σ+ State of CN
Line strengths have been calculated in the form of Einstein A coefficients and f-values for a large number of bands of the A 2Π-X 2Σ+ and B 2Σ+-X 2Σ+ systems and rovibrational transitions within the X 2Σ+ state of CN using Western\u27s PGOPHER program. The J dependence of the transition dipole moment matrix elements (the Herman-Wallis effect) has been taken into account. Rydberg-Klein-Rees potential energy functions for the A 2Π, B 2Σ+ , and X 2Σ+ states were computed using spectroscopic constants from the A 2Π-X 2Σ+ and B 2Σ+-X 2Σ+ transitions. New electronic transition dipole moment functions for these systems and a dipole moment function for the X 2Σ+ state were generated from high level ab initio calculations and have been used in Le Roy\u27s LEVEL program to produce transition dipole moment matrix elements (including their J dependence) for a large number of vibrational bands. The program PGOPHER was used to calculate Einstein A coefficients, and a line list was generated containing the observed and calculated wavenumbers, Einstein A coefficients and f-values for 290 bands of the A 2Π-X 2Σ + transition with v′ = 0-22, v″ = 0-15, 250 bands of the B 2Σ+-X 2Σ+ transition with v′ = 0-15, v″ = 0-15 and 120 bands of the rovibrational transitions within the X 2Σ+ state with v = 0-15. The Einstein A coefficients have been used to compute radiative lifetimes of several vibrational levels of the A 2Π and B 2Σ + states and the values compared with those available from previous experimental and theoretical studies. © 2014. Spitzer Observations of the z=2.73 Lensed Lyman Break Galaxy, MS1512-cB58
We present Spitzer infrared (IR) photometry and spectroscopy of the lensed
Lyman break galaxy (LBG), MS1512-cB58 at z=2.73. The large (factor ~30)
magnification allows for the most detailed infrared study of an L*_UV(z=3) LBG
to date. Broadband photometry with IRAC (3-10 micron), IRS (16 micron), and
MIPS (24, 70 & 160 micron) was obtained as well as IRS spectroscopy spanning
5.5-35 microns. A fit of stellar population models to the optical/near-IR/IRAC
photometry gives a young age (~9 Myr), forming stars at ~98 M_sun/yr, with a
total stellar mass of ~10^9 M_sun formed thus far. The existence of an old
stellar population with twice the stellar mass can not be ruled out. IR
spectral energy distribution fits to the 24 and 70 micron photometry, as well
as previously obtained submm/mm, data give an intrinsic IR luminosity L_IR =
1-2 x10^11 L_sun and a star formation rate, SFR ~20-40 M_sun/yr. The UV derived
star formation rate (SFR) is ~3-5 times higher than the SFR determined using
L_IR or L_Halpha because the red UV spectral slope is significantly over
predicting the level of dust extinction. This suggests that the assumed
Calzetti starburst obscuration law may not be valid for young LBGs. We detect
strong line emission from Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) at 6.2, 7.7,
and 8.6 microns. The line ratios are consistent with ratios observed in both
local and high redshift starbursts. Both the PAH and rest-frame 8 micron
luminosities predict the total L_IR based on previously measured relations in
starbursts. Finally, we do not detect the 3.3 micron PAH feature. This is
marginally inconsistent with some PAH emission models, but still consistent
with PAH ratios measured in many local star-forming galaxies.Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ. aastex format, 18 pages, 7 figure
Plane-Symmetric Inhomogeneous Bulk Viscous Cosmological Models with Variable
A plane-symmetric non-static cosmological model representing a bulk viscous
fluid distribution has been obtained which is inhomogeneous and anisotropic and
a particular case of which is gravitationally radiative. Without assuming any
{\it adhoc} law, we obtain a cosmological constant as a decreasing function of
time. The physical and geometric features of the models are also discussed.Comment: 11 page
Quantum response of weakly chaotic systems
Chaotic systems, that have a small Lyapunov exponent, do not obey the common
random matrix theory predictions within a wide "weak quantum chaos" regime.
This leads to a novel prediction for the rate of heating for cold atoms in
optical billiards with vibrating walls. The Hamiltonian matrix of the driven
system does not look like one from a Gaussian ensemble, but rather it is very
sparse. This sparsity can be characterized by parameters and that
reflect the percentage of large elements, and their connectivity respectively.
For we use a resistor network calculation that has direct relation to the
semi-linear response characteristics of the system.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, expanded improved versio
Staggering effects in nuclear and molecular spectra
It is shown that the recently observed Delta J = 2 staggering effect (i.e.
the relative displacement of the levels with angular momenta J, J+4, J+8, ...,
relatively to the levels with angular momenta J+2, J+6, J+10, ...) seen in
superdeformed nuclear bands is also occurring in certain electronically excited
rotational bands of diatomic molecules (YD, CrD, CrH, CoH), in which it is
attributed to interband interactions (bandcrossings). In addition, the Delta J
= 1 staggering effect (i.e. the relative displacement of the levels with even
angular momentum J with respect to the levels of the same band with odd J) is
studied in molecular bands free from Delta J = 2 staggering (i.e. free from
interband interactions/bandcrossings). Bands of YD offer evidence for the
absence of any Delta J = 1 staggering effect due to the disparity of nuclear
masses, while bands of sextet electronic states of CrD demonstrate that Delta J
= 1 staggering is a sensitive probe of deviations from rotational behaviour,
due in this particular case to the spin-rotation and spin-spin interactions.Comment: LaTeX, 16 pages plus 30 figures given in separate .ps files. To
