Novel charge integrating pulsed I (V) technique: A measurement of Fowler–Nordheim currents through thin SiO2 films

    Get PDF
The design, characterization and applications of a novel charge integrating pulsed current-voltage I(V) measurement are described. Tunneling transport through thin metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) capacitors is measured over ten orders of magnitude of current. Short pulse widths (<j s), allow electrical characterization of these films under high current densities, without significant charge injection. A study of the quantum interference of electrons during Fowler-Nordheim (FN) conduction, is used to illustrate the measurement

A reference architecture for the collaborative planning modelling process in multi-tier supply chain networks: a Zachman-based approach

A prominent and contemporary challenge for supply chain (SC) managers concerns the coordination of the efforts of the nodes of the SC in order to mitigate unpredictable market behaviour and satisfy variable customer demand. A productive response to this challenge is to share pertinent market-related information, on a timely basis, in order to effectively manage the decision-making associated with the SC production and transportation planning processes. This paper analyses the most well-known reference modelling languages and frameworks in the collaborative SC field and proposes a novel reference architecture, based upon the Zachman Framework (ZF), for supporting collaborative plan- ning (CP) in multi-level, SC networks. The architecture is applied to an automotive supply chain configuration, where, under a collaborative and decentralised approach, improvements in the service levels for each node were observed. The architecture was shown to provide the base discipline for the organisation of the processes required to manage the CP activity. The authors thanks the support from the project 'Operations Design and Management in Global Supply Chains (GLOBOP)' (Ref. "What we do is not actually journalism": Role negotiations in online departments of two newspapers in Slovenia and Serbia

    No full text
This study offers insights into articulations between the normative and the empirical in online journalists' self-negotiations concerning their roles in people's assimilation of information, the daily provision of news and their institutional status in online departments. In-depth interviews with online journalists from two leading newspapers, Delo in Slovenia and Novosti in Serbia, are used to investigate their negotiations with respect to their societal role. The analysis reveals troubled negotiation processes among interviewed online journalists when they consider what is regarded as true journalism, news production requirements and their institutional status. This indicates that rearrangements of political-economic relations in both post-socialist societies have increased journalism's responsibility to the media owners and power holders and surpassed its normatively defined responsibility to the public. Both case subjects are compared through the prism of the processes of negotiation of normative principles of journalism in the social, national and institutional contexts of the two newspapers
