La production d’une baladodiffusion éducative en obstétrique et gynécologie
Implication Statement:
Podcasts are used in medical education to supplement conventional teaching methods such as lectures and reading. We identified a lack of Canadian medical education podcasts covering obstetrics and gynecology (Ob/Gyn) content and created a podcast specific for Canadian medical students and residents. The podcast called “OB-G in YEG” is freely available and currently has fourteen episodes that cover common topics in Ob/Gyn. We describe the process for creating a high-quality medical education resource that is widely accessible to learners that readers may be able to replicate in their own discipline.Énoncé des implications de la recherche
Analytic Loops and Gauge Fields
In this paper the linear representations of analytic Moufang loops are
investigated. We prove that every representation of semisimple analytic Moufang
loop is completely reducible and find all nonassociative irreducible
representations. We show that such representations are closely associated with
the (anti-)self-dual Yang-Mills equations in Comment: 10 pages, LaTeX, no figure
Vibrational energy relaxation in proteins
An overview of theories related to vibrational energy relaxation (VER) in
proteins is presented. VER of a selected mode in cytochrome c is studied using
two theoretical approaches. One is the equilibrium simulation approach with
quantum correction factors, and the other is the reduced model approach which
describes the protein as an ensemble of normal modes interacting through
nonlinear coupling elements. Both methods result in estimates of the VER time
(sub ps) for a CD stretching mode in the protein at room temperature. The
theoretical predictions are in accord with the experimental data of Romesberg's
group. A perspective on future directions for the detailed study of time scales
and mechanisms for VER in proteins is presented.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures, accepted for publication in PNA
Duality between a deterministic cellular automaton and a bosonic quantum field theory in 1+1 dimensions
Methods developed in a previous paper are employed to define an exact
correspondence between the states of a deterministic cellular automaton in 1+1
dimensions and those of a bosonic quantum field theory. The result may be used
to argue that quantum field theories may be much closer related to
deterministic automata than what is usually thought possible. Version 2 had a
minor typo corrected and notation was made more consistent.Comment: 18 pages (incl. Title page). No figure
The Seven-sphere and its Kac-Moody Algebra
We investigate the seven-sphere as a group-like manifold and its extension to
a Kac-Moody-like algebra. Covariance properties and tensorial composition of
spinors under are defined. The relation to Malcev algebras is
established. The consequences for octonionic projective spaces are examined.
Current algebras are formulated and their anomalies are derived, and shown to
be unique (even regarding numerical coefficients) up to redefinitions of the
currents. Nilpotency of the BRST operator is consistent with one particular
expression in the class of (field-dependent) anomalies. A Sugawara construction
is given.Comment: 22 pages. Macropackages used: phyzzx, epsf. Three epsf figure files

Derivations and automorphisms of free nilpotent Lie algebras and their quotiens
Let \n_{d,t} be the free nilpotent Lie algebra of type and nilindex
. Starting out with the derivation algebra and the automorphism group of
\n_{d,t}, we get a natural description of derivations and automorphisms of
any generic nilpotent Lie algebra of the same type and nilindex. Moreover,
along the paper we discuss several examples to illustrate the obtained results.Comment: 13 page
