Contribution of the Baikal Amphipod to the Feeding Pattern of Perch in the Littoral Zone of Lake Onega

Abstract. The seasonal feeding pattern of juvenile perch in Petrozavodsk Bay of Lake Onega was studied. It was shown that in the fourth to sixth years of their life, a benthic type of feeding predominates. The fish that inhabit the littoral zone feed actively on the Baikal amphipod, a new food item. During the summer-autumn season, the colonizer accounts for over 50% of the biomass in the stomach of juvenile perch. The invasion of Lake Onega by the Baikal amphipod has thus led to changes in the structure of littoral communities and the availability of a new food item for the fish. Considering the resistance of the Baikal amphipod to unfavorable environmental factors, it is important to study its spatial expansion and the possible penetration of this amphipod via tributaries to other water bodies in the Lake Onega Lake catchment area. Theory of Linear Spin Wave Emission from a Bloch Domain Wall

We report an analytical theory of linear emission of exchange spin waves from a Bloch domain wall, excited by a uniform microwave magnetic field. The problem is reduced to a one-dimensional Schr\"odinger-like equation with a P\"oschl-Teller potential and a driving term of the same profile. The emission of plane spin waves is observed at excitation frequencies above a threshold value, as a result of a linear process. The height-to-width aspect ratio of the P\"oschl-Teller profile for a domain wall is found to correspond to a local maximum of the emission efficiency. Furthermore, for a tailored P\"oschl-Teller potential with a variable aspect ratio, particular values of the latter can lead to enhanced or even completely suppressed emission.Comment: added ancillary file

SAXSEV 2.1 CROSS-PLATFORM APPLICATION FOR DATA ANALYSIS OF SMALL-ANGLE X-RAY SCATTERING FROM POLYDISPERSE SYSTEMS

The present paper discusses development and implementation of the cross-platform application with a graphical user interface for estimation of the particle volume fraction distribution function and fitting specific surface area to this distribution pattern. SAXSEV implements the method of statistical regularization for ill-posed mathematical tasks being solved with the use of Numpy, Scipy and MathPlotlib libraries. The main features of this software application are the ability to adjust the arguments grid of the desired function and the ability to select the optimal value of the regularization parameter. This parameter is selected by several specific and one common criteria. The software application consists of modules written in Python3. The modules are combined by common interface based on Tkinter library. Current version SAXSEV 2.1 was tested on the basis of Windows XP / Vista / 7/8, Ubuntu 14.1. It was emphasized that a comprehensive and systematic approach to the development of new and qualitative improvement of existing provisions of national legislation in the direction of combating gender discrimination through the eradication of sexual harassment and violence in the workplace is a defining element in promoting women and men to engage in decent work.Исследована проблема гендерной дискриминации, в частности в форме сексуальных притязаний на рабочем месте, что приводит к разрушению самой концепции достойного труда и нивелирует значимость ее компонента – отсутствие каких-либо форм дискриминации. Наголошено на важливості подальшого врахування та запозичення прогресивного зарубіжного досвіду при вирішенні на теренах України будь-яких проблемних питань, що пов’язані із правовим регулюванням недопущення дискримінації у сфері праці за ознакою статі.The paper provides a comprehensive review of foreign experience in legal regulation in order to prevent gender-based discrimination in the world of work. It has been established that the legislation of foreign countries aimed at solving the problem of avoidable gender-based discrimination in the world of work, convincingly testifies to the existence of legislative provisions, sufficient in their scope, regulating solutions to various aspects of this problem. It was found that the labor codes of foreign countries are not exclusively the only regulatory framework that should be taken into account when referring to the review of foreign experience in solving the problem of gender discrimination in the world of work. Given the foregoing, attention is paid to a meaningful analysis of normative legal acts that are directly aimed at achieving a parity position of women and men in the world of work by legal ensuring equal rights and opportunities, protecting men and women from gender-based discrimination, eliminating the imbalance between the opportunities for women and men to exercise equal rights. The positive foreign experience of legal regulation of non-discrimination on gender grounds in the world of work has been highlighted and the possibilities of introducing such experience in Ukraine have been identified. A number of legislative changes have been proposed that are necessary to take them into account when reforming labor legislation to approve and to strengthen universal human values, to harmonize the legal regulation of labor and relations closely related to them, to strengthen the inviolability of the rights and interests of men and women in the world of work. The importance of further integrating and borrowing progressive foreign experience in solving any problematic issues in the territory of Ukraine related to the legal regulation of non-discrimination on gender grounds in the world of work has been emphasized.Выделен положительный зарубежный опыт правового регулирования недопущения дискриминации в сфере труда по признаку пола и определены возможности внедрения такого опыта в Украине. Spin Waves in a Periodically Layered Magnetic Nanowire

We report a simple theoretical derivation of the spectrum and damping of spin waves in a cylindrical periodically structured magnetic nanowire (cylindrical magnonic crystal) in the "effective medium" approximation. The dependence of the "effective" magnetic parameters upon the individual layer parameters is shown to be different from the arithmetic average over the volume of the superlattice. The formulae that are obtained can be applied firstly in the description of spin wave dispersion in the first allowed band of the structure; and secondly in the design of a magnonic crystal with band-gaps in an arbitrary part of the spin wave spectrum.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures; submitted to Journal of Applied Physic
