Wind tunnel tests were implemented for experimental verification of the reversibility theoremfor three various shapes of fore body for an axially symmetric thin body in direct and reverse streams. Besides, such tests were implemented for UAV models with three types of wings. Results of investigationsshowed that the error of execution reversibility theorem consequence can achieve 12.5% at the range ofangles of attack from 0 to 20° (accordingly, from 180° to 200°)Проведены испытания в аэродинамической трубе для экспериментальной проверки теоремы обратимости длятрех различных форм носовой части осесимметричного тела в прямом и обратном потоках. Midterm experience with modified Cabrol procedure: Safe and durable for complex aortic root replacement

ObjectiveTo evaluate the early and late outcomes of the modified Cabrol technique as a method of coronary reimplantation during complex composite graft replacement of the ascending aorta.MethodsBetween 1995 and 2012, 348 patients (mean age, 56 ± 14 years; 283 males and 65 females) underwent composite graft replacement of the ascending aorta, 40 of whom (mean age, 60 ± 12 years; 35 males and 5 females) had one or both coronary ostia reimplanted using a modified Cabrol technique with an 8- to 10-mm Dacron interposition graft. The mean clinical and radiologic (computed tomographic scan) postoperative follow-up was 39 months (range, 1-171 months), via our aortic database, patient interviews, and Social Security Death Index.ResultsCabrol reimplantation was necessitated by reoperations with anatomically fixed coronary ostia (n = 16, 40%), severely displaced coronary arteries (n = 15, 37.5%), button calcification (n = 4, 10%), coronary anomalies (n = 3, 7.5%), and coronary aneurysm (n = 2, 5%). Of the operations, 20% (8 patients) were urgent interventions. Early mortality was 3 (7.5%) of 40, none related to the Dacron interposition graft. Total late mortality was 16.2%, also not related to the coronary graft. Actuarial survivals were 0.88 ± 0.05, 0.79 ± 0.07, and 0.73 ± 0.08 at 1, 3, and 6 years, respectively. Radiologic follow-up was available for 31 (83.8%) of the surviving patients and revealed that the interposition graft was widely patent in all.ConclusionsThe modified Cabrol technique using a Dacron interposition graft showed good survival rates and excellent durability over time, confirmed radiographically. These data confirm that it is appropriate to use the Cabrol technique when technical complexity prevents bringing coronary buttons to the main aortic graft

Interaction of hydrocortisone with ATP and adenosine on nerve-mediated contractions of frog skeletal muscle

The inhibitory effects of ATP and adenosine on the nerve-mediated contractile responses of isolated sartorius muscle of the frog, Rana ridibunda, evoked by electrical field stimulation (EFS) were studied using pharmacological organ-bath technique. The effects of hydrocortisone applied in vitro and in vivo on contractility of sartorius muscle were also examined. ATP (100 μM) significantly reduced the amplitude of contraction to EFS of sartorius muscle, while pyridoxalphosphate-6-azonphenyl-2′,4′-disulfonic acid (PPADS; 10 μM), a P2 receptor antagonist, abolished inhibitory effect of ATP. A similar inhibitory effect of adenosine (100 μM) was fully antagonized by 8-(p-sulfophenyl)-theophylline (8-SPT, 100 μM), a P1 receptor antagonist. Incubation of the tissue with hydrocortisone (10 μM) caused a slight, but significant, decrease of muscle contractions. After incubation of muscle preparations with both hydrocortisone and ATP, no inhibition of muscle contractility was registered. A single injection of hydrocortisone (100 mg/kg) 12 h prior to experiments to frogs did not significantly change the nerve-mediated contractility of isolated sartorius muscle; however, it abolished the inhibitory action of ATP without changing inhibitory activity of adenosine. After treatment of frogs with hydrocortisone for 14 days (100 mg/kg/day), both ATP and adenosine retained their inhibitory action on EFS-induced contractions of the muscle, and their effects were antagonized by PPADS and 8-SPT, respectively. It is concluded that hydrocortisone has antagonistic actions against the inhibitory effects of ATP at the frog neuromuscular junction, although this effect is lost following long-term treatment with hydrocortisone. © 2009 Elsevier B.V

Effects of ATP and adenosine on contraction amplitude of rat soleus muscle at different temperatures

© 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of adenosine 5′-triphosphate (ATP) and adenosine on the contractility of mammalian skeletal muscle under hypothermic conditions. Methods: Contractions of isolated rat soleus muscle were induced by either electrical stimulation (ES) or carbachol at physiological temperatures (37°C) and hypothermic conditions (30–14°C) and recorded in the presence of ATP, adenosine, suramin, and 8-(p-sulfophenyl)-theophylline (8-SPT). Results: At 37°C, incubation of the muscles with ATP inhibited ES-induced contractions; the inhibitory effect of ATP disappeared at 14°C. Adenosine inhibited ES-induced contractions at all temperature levels; 8-SPT fully prevented the action of adenosine. ATP and adenosine did not significantly affect carbachol-induced contractions at 37°C, while at lower temperatures ATP potentiated them. Suramin fully prevented effects of ATP. Conclusions: ATP is involved in both pre- and postsynaptic regulation of rat soleus muscle contractility, and these processes are significantly more pronounced at low temperatures.
