The functional requirements for the Flight Operations Processor are defined. The Flight Operations Processor is that element of the Consumables Management System providing support during the flight operations

Two-Loop Crossover Scaling Functions of the O(N) Model

    Get PDF
Using Environmentally Friendly Renormalization, we present an analytic calculation of the series for the renormalization constants that describe the equation of state for the O(N)O(N) model in the whole critical region. The solution of the beta-function equation, for the running coupling to order two loops, exhibits crossover between the strong coupling fixed point, associated with the Goldstone modes, and the Wilson-Fisher fixed point. The Wilson functions γλ\gamma_\lambda, γϕ\gamma_\phi and γϕ2\gamma_{\phi^2}, and thus the effective critical exponents associated with renormalization of the transverse vertex functions, also exhibit non-trivial crossover between these fixed points.Comment: 21 pages, 4 figures, version to appears in IJMPL

Extreme intensity pulses in a semiconductor laser with a short external cavity

    Get PDF
We present a numerical study of the pulses displayed by a semiconductor laser with optical feedback in the short cavity regime, such that the external cavity round trip time is smaller than the laser relaxation oscillation period. For certain parameters there are occasional pulses, which are high enough to be considered extreme events. We characterize the bifurcation scenario that gives rise to such extreme pulses and study the influence of noise. We demonstrate intermittency when the extreme pulses appear and hysteresis when the attractor that sustains these pulses is destroyed. We also show that this scenario is robust under the inclusion of noise

Development of an STS (Space Transportation System) interactive computer program MPP (Mission Planning Processor) working model was conducted. A summary of the computer program development and those supporting tasks conducted is presented. Development of the MPP Computer Program is discussed. This development was supported by several parallel tasks. These tasks either directly supported the program development, or provided information for future application and/or modification to the program in relation to the flight planning and flight operations of the STS and advanced spacecraft. The supporting tasks also included development of a Space Station MPP to demonstrate the applicability of the analytical methods developed under this RTOP to more advanced spacecraft than the STS

Guaranteed emergence of genuine entanglement in 3-qubit evolving systems

Multipartite entanglement has been shown to be of particular relevance for a better understanding and exploitation of the dynamics and flow of entanglement in multiparty systems. This calls for analysis aimed at identifying the appropriate processes that guarantee the emergence of multipartite entanglement in a wide range of scenarios. Here we carry on such analysis considering a system of two initially entangled qubits, one of which is let to interact with a third qubit according to an arbitrary unitary evolution. We establish necessary and sufficient conditions on the corresponding Kraus operators, to discern whether the evolved state pertains to either one of the classes of 3-qubit pure states that exhibit some kind of entanglement, namely biseparable, W-, and GHZ- genuine entangled classes. Our results provide a classification of the Kraus operators according to their capacity of producing 3-qubit entanglement, and pave the way for extending the analysis to larger systems and determining the particular interactions that must be implemented in order to create, enhance and distribute entanglement in a specific manner.Comment: Two new subsections included.
