    Por definição a tecnologia de Aplicação não se resume ao ato de apenas aplicar o produto, mas na interação de fatores, que buscam a máxima eficiência dos tratamentos, economicidade, eficiência operacional, adequação de máquinas e menor contaminação ambiental e segurança do operador (MATTHEWS,1992). Para tanto, aspectos como o ambiente, qualidade da pulverização promovida pelas pontas de pulverização em função do padrão de gotas produzidas, se interrelacionam e são determinantes para o sucesso das aplicações na cultura da videira, que é cultivada no Brasil em diferentes regiões e conseqüentemente diversificadas em relação ao aspecto climático que confere severidade diferenciada da principal doença infecciosa da cultura, o míldio; sendo necessário de 15 a 50 aplicações por ano para regiões de clima temperado e tropical respectivamente ou também por características varietais que conferem à videira diferentes níveis de suscetibilidade.bitstream/CNPUV/8821/1/cir073.pd

    Functional outcomes and clinical strength assessment after infraspinatus-sparing surgical approach to scapular fracture: Does it really make a difference?

    Background: Surgical treatment of scapular fractures with posterior approach is frequently associated with postoperative infraspinatus hypotrophy and weakness. The aim of this retrospective study is to compare infraspinatus strength and functional outcomes in patients treated with the classic Judet versus modified Judet approach for scapular fracture. Patients and methods: 20 cases with scapular neck and body fracture treated with posterior approach for lateral border plate fixation were reviewed. In 11 of 20 cases, we used the modified Judet approach (MJ group), and in 9 cases we used the classic Judet approach (CJ group). All fractures were classified according to the AO classification system. At follow-up examinations, patients had X-ray assessment with acromiohumeral distance (AHD) measurement, clinical evaluation, active range of motion (ROM) examination, Constant Shoulder Score, and Disability of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) Score. Infraspinatus strength assessment was measured using a dynamometer during infraspinatus strength test (IST) and infraspinatus scapular retraction test (ISRT). Results: Demographic data did not significantly differ between the CJ group and MJ group, except for mean follow-up, which was 4.15\ua0years in the CJ group and 2.33 in the MJ group (p\ua0<\ua00.001). All X-ray examinations showed fracture healing. AHD was significantly decreased in the CJ group (p\ua0=\ua00.006). We did not find significant differences in active ROM between the MJ and CJ groups in the injured arm (p\ua0<\ua00.05). The Constant Score was 75.83 (\ub114.03) in the CJ group and 82.75 (\ub110.72) in the MJ group (p\ua0=\ua00.31); DASH Score was 10.16 in the CJ group and 6.25 in the MJ group (p\ua0=\ua00.49). IST showed mean strength of 8.38\ua0kg (\ub11.75) in the MJ group and 4.61\ua0kg (\ub11.98) in the CJ group (p\ua0=\ua00.002), ISRT test was 8.7 (\ub11.64) in the MJ group and 4.95 (\ub12.1) in the CJ group (p\ua0=\ua00.002). Infraspinatus hypotrophy was detected during inspection in six patients (five in the CJ group and one in the MJ group); it was related to infraspinatus strength weakness in IST and ISRT (p\ua0<\ua00.001). Conclusions: Infraspinatus-sparing surgical approach for scapular fracture avoids infraspinatus hypotrophy and external-rotation strength weakness. We suggest use of the modified Judet approach for scapular fracture and to restrict the classic Judet approach to only when the surgeon believes that the fracture is not easily reducible with a narrower exposure.     Rationale, application and clinical qualification for NT-proBNP as a surrogate end point in pivotal clinical trials in patients with AL amyloidosis

    Amyloid light-chain (LC) amyloidosis (AL amyloidosis) is a rare and fatal disease for which there are no approved therapies. In patients with AL amyloidosis, LC aggregates progressively accumulate in organs, resulting in organ failure that is particularly lethal when the heart is involved. A significant obstacle in the development of treatments for patients with AL amyloidosis, as well as for those with any disease that is rare, severe and heterogeneous, has been satisfying traditional clinical trial end points (for example, overall survival or progression-free survival). It is for this reason that many organizations, including the United States Food and Drug Administration through its Safety and Innovation Act Accelerated Approval pathway, have recognized the need for biomarkers as surrogate end points. The international AL amyloidosis expert community is in agreement that the N-terminal fragment of the pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) is analytically validated and clinically qualified as a biomarker for use as a surrogate end point for survival in patients with AL amyloidosis. Underlying this consensus is the demonstration that NT-proBNP is an indicator of cardiac response in all interventional studies in which it has been assessed, despite differences in patient population, treatment type and treatment schedule. Furthermore, NT-proBNP expression is directly modulated by amyloidogenic LC-elicited signal transduction pathways in cardiomyocytes. The use of NT-proBNP will greatly facilitate the development of targeted therapies for AL amyloidosis. Here, we review the data supporting the use of NT-proBNP, a biomarker that is analytically validated, clinically qualified, directly modulated by LC and universally accepted by AL amyloidosis specialists, as a surrogate end point for survival.Leukemia advance online publication, 2 August 2016; doi:10.1038/leu.2016.191

    Virus-like Particle (VLP) Vaccines for Cancer Immunotherapy

    Cancer vaccines are increasingly being studied as a possible strategy to prevent and treat cancers. While several prophylactic vaccines for virus-caused cancers are approved and efficiently used worldwide, the development of therapeutic cancer vaccines needs to be further implemented. Virus-like particles (VLPs) are self-assembled protein structures that mimic native viruses or bacteriophages but lack the replicative material. VLP platforms are designed to display single or multiple antigens with a high-density pattern, which can trigger both cellular and humoral responses. The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive overview of preventive VLP-based vaccines currently approved worldwide against HBV and HPV infections or under evaluation to prevent virus-caused cancers. Furthermore, preclinical and early clinical data on prophylactic and therapeutic VLP-based cancer vaccines were summarized with a focus on HER-2-positive breast cancer

    Transient expression of reck under hepatic ischemia/reperfusion conditions is associated with mapk signaling pathways

    In this study, we demonstrated the involvement of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in hepatic ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. Our aim is to evaluate the impact of reperfusion on I/R-related changes in RECK, an MMP modulator, and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPKs) pathways (ERK, p38, and JNK). Male Wistar rats were either subjected to 60 min partial-hepatic ischemia or sham-operated. After a 60 min or 120 min reperfusion, liver samples were collected for analysis of MMP-2 and MMP-9 by zymography and RECK, TIMP-1, and TIMP-2 content, MAPKs activation (ERK1/2, JNK1/2, and p38), as well as iNOS and eNOS by Western blot. Serum enzymes AST, ALT, and alkaline-phosphatase were quantified. A transitory decrease in hepatic RECK and TIMPs was associated with a transitory increase in both MMP-2 and MMP-9 activity and a robust activation of ERK1/2, JNK1/2, and p38 were detected at 60 min reperfusion. Hepatic expression of iNOS was maximally upregulated at 120 min reperfusion. An increase in eNOS was detected at 120 min reperfusion. I/R evoked significant hepatic injury in a time-dependent manner. These findings provide new insights into the underlying molecular mechanisms of reperfusion in inducing hepatic injury: a transitory decrease in RECK and TIMPs and increases in both MAPK and MMP activity suggest their role as triggering factors of the organ dysfunction
