Antibiotic Prescribing Practices of Filipino Dentists
There are reports that dentists overprescribe antibiotics which may contribute to antibiotic resistance. This is an exploratory study on antibiotic prescribing practices of Filipino dentists using an online platform to form a basis for antimicrobial stewardship policy for dentists. A link to an online questionnaire using Survey Monkey was posted in a Closed Group Facebook account of Filipino dentists. Two hundred thirty (230) dentists participated. Data was analyzed by Survey Monkey. Amoxicillin is the first choice of antibiotics(71.18%), andclindamycin is the second (57.27%). Most respondents follow the indications for antibiotic therapy, however, some will prescribe antibiotics for conditions without indications. For dental procedures, 88.99% will prescribe for periodontal surgery, 75.45% for endodontic surgery, 68.3% for extraction of a tooth with chronic infection, 87.17% for third molar surgery, 26.7% for routine endodontics, and 23.56% for periodontal treatment without surgery. Not all of the respondents would prescribe for medical conditions that require antibiotic prophylaxis, while 60.36% will prescribe when in doubt in diagnosis, under time pressure (25.68%), and 48.67% considers patient preference. Only 10.48% of the respondents are very familiar with antimicrobial stewardship, while majority (69.74%) have not attended a lecture for antimicrobial stewardship for dentists. There is inappropriate antibiotic prescribing of participants on certain dental diseases, procedures, and medical conditions. Most respondents are not very familiar and have not attended a lecture on antimicrobial stewardship for specifically for dentists
Homomorphic encryption and some black box attacks
This paper is a compressed summary of some principal definitions and concepts
in the approach to the black box algebra being developed by the authors. We
suggest that black box algebra could be useful in cryptanalysis of homomorphic
encryption schemes, and that homomorphic encryption is an area of research
where cryptography and black box algebra may benefit from exchange of ideas
THE EFFECTS OF ECCENTRIC PHASE DURATION ON CONCENTRIC PHASE FORCE PRODUCTION DURING DEPTH JUMPS
The purpose of the study was to test the yet unproven theory, which states that the faster a muscle is stretched the greater force it produces in the subsequent concentric phase during plyometric exercises. Thirty-three trained male athletes performed plyometric depth jumps from two heights (trial A=33.02cm, trial B=47.94cm) landing on a force platform, followed by an immediate counter jump. Researchers determined the duration of eccentric phase and the relative peak concentric force of each jump using the data from the force platform. Results indicated a significant inverse relationship between eccentric duration and relative peak concentric force in both trials (p=0.019 and
The WaveDriving Course
In the last ten years our knowledge about the formation of traffic jams has changed substantially, so that the idea of »phantom traffic jam» could soon seem naive to us. But transforming traffic flows and eliminating traffic jams requires that each individual driver (human or non-human) understands their role in traffic flows, the genesis of traffic jams, and how to behave to avoid them. Based on previous studies we have termed this adaptive, anti-jam behavior Wavedriving. This paper presents the design and structure of an online WaveDriving course (WDC) conceived to teach to avoid traffic jams, as well as its first pilot tests. Although some improvements have been identified after the pilots, the preliminary results confirm that the WDC manages to transform car-following behavior of participants, from ordinary drivers to WaveDrivers
N-dimensional geometries and Einstein equations from systems of PDE's
The aim of the present work is twofold: first, we show how all the
-dimensional Riemannian and Lorentzian metrics can be constructed from a
certain class of systems of second-order PDE's which are in duality to the
Hamilton-Jacobi equation and second we impose the Einstein equations to these
PDE's
Characterization of non‑linear mechanical behavior of the cornea
The objective of this study was to evaluate which hyperelastic model could best describe the nonlinear mechanical behavior of the cornea, in order to characterize the capability of the non-linear
model parameters to discriminate structural changes in a damaged cornea. Porcine corneas were
used, establishing two diferent groups: control (non-treated) and NaOH-treated (damaged) corneas
(n= 8). NaOH causes a chemical burn to the corneal tissue, simulating a disease associated to
structural damage of the stromal layer. Quasi-static uniaxial tensile tests were performed in nasaltemporal direction immediately after preparing corneal strips from the two groups. Three non-linear
hyperelastic models (i.e. Hamilton-Zabolotskaya model, Ogden model and Mooney-Rivlin model)
were ftted to the stress–strain curves obtained in the tensile tests and statistically compared. The
corneas from the two groups showed a non-linear mechanical behavior that was best described by
the Hamilton-Zabolotskaya model, obtaining the highest coefcient of determination (R2 > 0.95).
Moreover, Hamilton-Zabolotskaya model showed the highest discriminative capability of the nonlinear model parameter (Parameter A) for the tissue structural changes between the two sample
groups (p= 0.0005). The present work determines the best hyperelastic model with the highest
discriminative capability in description of the non-linear mechanical behavior of the cornea.Ministry of Education

Tracing, Ranking and Pricing DER Flexibility in Active Distribution Networks
This paper presents a framework for analysing the aggregated flexibility of
active distribution networks (ADNs) with distributed energy resources (DER).
The analysis takes a different perspective than existing studies, which focus
on characterising flexibility as the limits of the flexible power provision,
i.e., the set of the network feasible operating points in the P-Q space.
Instead, this work aims to estimate the contributions of different flexible
units to the aggregated flexibility, which is essential for flexible power
ranking and pricing. The proposed framework exploits cost-minimising OPF models
complemented with cooperative game formulations that are able to capture the
combinatorial nature of activating multiple flexible units. Moreover, in
contrast to existing studies that imply perfect coordination of units, the
proposed framework specifies the actions needed to reach feasible operating
points, reflecting the nonlinearities of the network flexibility model.
Extensive simulations are performed for different flexibility metrics to
demonstrate the applicability of the framework. Depending on the metric
selected (capacity, cost, or economic surplus of flexibility), distribution
system operators (DSOs) can identify the most critical flexible units or
remunerate units for participating in flexibility services provision
Assessing Distribution Network Flexibility via Reliability-based P-Q Area Segmentation
This paper proposes a framework to assess the flexibility of active
distribution networks (ADNs) via P-Q area segmentation, considering the
reliability of flexible units (FUs). A mixed-integer quadratically constrained
programming (MIQCP) model is formulated to analyse flexible active and reactive
power support at the interface with transmission networks, explicitly capturing
the contributions and reliability of FUs that provide flexibility services
within an ADN. The numerical simulations performed for a real 124-bus UK
distribution network demonstrate the optimal flexibility provision by different
FUs, as well as the corresponding reliability and the impact of network
reconfiguration. Distribution system operators (DSOs) can use the proposed
framework to identify critical units, select an adequate combination of
flexibility volumes, and manage its reliability.Comment: Submitted to PSCC 2022, then resubmitted to IEEE PowerTech 2023
