poster abstractPhotoswitchable molecules have attracted a great deal of attention over the past few years in designing molecular machines. Among photoswitchable molecules, azobenzene is widely studied due to its transcis photoisomeration, which produces a simple structure and spectra, and is photo and electrochemically active. The localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) properties of the metal nanostructures in conjunction with the photswitching properties of the azobenzene molecules allow the nanoscale environment to be more controlled and to ultimately improve the sensing abilities of the metallic nanostructures. We have developed a method of constructing a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of azobenzene-containing alkanethiol molecules on the surface of chemically synthesized gold nanoprisms as molecular sensor. The reversible photoswiching properties of azobenzene were studied by monitoring the LSPR peak shift of gold nanoprisms by absorption spectroscopy. It was found that the substratebound gold nanoprisms functionalized with azobenzene alkanethiol molecules resulted in a ~30 nm LSPR peak red shift. The photoswitching behavior of the azobenzene molecules attached to the prisms was monitored after cycling exposure to UV and visible light. A ~12 nm LSPR blue shift was observed as the light exposure was switched from visible to UV light due to the trans to cis isomeration of the azobenze. The LSPR peak shift was found to be reversible as the light source was switched back and forth several times from UV to visible light. The reversible photoswitching of azobenzene-functionalized gold nanoprisms demonstrates their potential as ultra-sensitive molecular sensors for a broad range of applications from nanoelectrochemical systems to medicine

Todays digital image plays an important role in all areas such as baking, communication, business etc. Due to the availability of manipulation software it is very easy to manipulate the original image. The contents in an original image can be copy-paste to hide some information or to create tampering. The new area introduces to detect the forgery is an image forensic. In this paper proposes the new image forensic technique to detect the presence of forgery in the compressed images and in other format images. The proposed method is based on the no subsampled contoured transform (NSCT). The proposed method is made up of three parts as preprocessing, nsct transform and forgery detection. The proposed forensic method is flexible, multiscale, multidirectional, and image decomposition is shift invariant that can be efficiently implemented via the à trous algorithm. The proposed a design framework based on the mapping approach. This method allows for a fast implementation based on a lifting or ladder structure. The proposed method ensures that the frame elements are regular, symmetric, and the frame is close to a tight one. The NSCT compares with and dct method in this paper

Tissue cultured Pimpinella tirupatiensis plantlets were subjected to assessment of genetic stability considering the fact that associated in vitro stress might result in breakdown of control mechanism causing instability of the genome. We have used two DNA based molecular markers to assess the genetic fidelity of in vitro regenerated Pimpinella tirupatiensis through shoot tip from in vitro raised seedlings. The shoot tips upon transfer to MS medium containing different concentrations and combinations of 6- benzyl aminopurine (BAP) kinetin (KN), 2- isopentyl adenine (2- ip), α- napthalene acetic acid (NAA) and indole 3- acetic acid (IAA). The best morphogenic response was observed on MS medium fortified with BA (13.31 µM) and NAA (2.69 µM) which exhibited the highest regeneration frequency (90%), the maximum number of shoots/explants (6.50 ± 0.91) and shoot length (3.20 ± 0.20) within 5 weeks. Rooting was achieved within 15 days of shoot implantation on ½ strength MS media fortified with BAP (13.31 µM) and IBA (9.8 µM). The rooted plantlets were successfully acclimatized with 85% survival rate. Out of 20 RAPD and 3 ISSR primers screened, only 6 random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and all three inter simple sequence repeats (ISSR) primers produced clear reproducible and scorable bands. All banding profiles from micropropagated plants were monomorphic and similar to the mother plant indicating an absence of noticeable genetic variation in the regenerated plantlets. This study is of high significance as these could be commercially utilized for large scale production of true-to-type plantlets in Pimpinella tirupatiensis

ABSTRACTObjective: Music is one of the inexpensive, safe, and non-pharmacological stress-reducing factors. Various surgeries increase the stress levels ofthe patient by increasing their blood pressure and anxiety level. This change in blood pressure can be lowered by certain safe and non-invasivetechniques. One of the significant techniques is to listen to music. Hence, the objective of this study is to validate the fact that music help acts a stressrelieving factor by decreasing the blood pressure of the patient who is undergoing dental surgeries. Methods: About 20 participants were selected for the study; out of which, 15 participants participated in this study, and others were excludedas they did not meet the inclusion criteria. The blood pressure was calculated at rest position before the surgery, and then pleasant soft musicwas played to the patient during the surgery. Then, the blood pressure was measured at an interval of 5 minutes for a span of 15 minutes. Theobserved blood pressure was recorded. Statistical analysis was done with the recorded data in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences Software(version 20).Results: Initially, the blood pressure of the patient was found to be at a mean level of 107/65 mmHg which rose to a greater heights of 116/68 mmHgwhich then lowered down to a mean level of 108/61 mmHg at the end of 15 minutes after the music was played to the patient during the surgery. Conclusion: This study can conclude by saying that pleasant and soft music has an ability to stabilize the systolic blood pressure of patients undergoingdental surgeries. Keywords: Systolic blood pressure, Music, Stress, Dental surgeries, Stress busters, Soft music

A parasitic myoma: clinicopathological study of a rare case

    Get PDF
Leiomyoma is a benign tumour composed of smooth muscle cells with fibrous stroma and it is the commonest tumour amongst the tumours of uterus. As per FIGO classification system parasitic leiomyoma has no myometrial involvement or uterine attachment. These myomas get detached from the uterus and receive the blood supply from another source. The etiology and pathologic basis of these parasitic fibroids is not yet clearly understood. We report a rare case of parasitic myoma in a 29 years old female patient presented with abdominal discomfort and difficulty in micturition. Clinical examination and subsequent imaging studies revealed a pelvic mass. Histopathological examination of which proved it to be a parasitic myoma. Parasitic myoma is a rare entity which may be iatrogenically created after surgery particularly with morcellation technique. With increasing rates of laparoscopic procedures, surgeons should be aware of the possibility of formation of parasitic myoma and should take intraoperative precautions to minimise its formation
