Prolate spheroidal slosh model for fluid motion
Mathematical model, designed for zero gravity conditions, analyzes dynamic effects of large amplitude fluid motion interior to a rigid body. It has two advantages over other mathematical models: (1) constrains slosh motion to given region in natural manner, and (2) allows equilibrium position of slosh mass to be anywhere on slosh surface
RMS massless arm dynamics capability in the SVDS
The equations of motion for the remote manipulator system, assuming that the masses and inertias of the arm can be neglected, are developed for implementation into the space vehicle dynamics simulation (SVDS) program for the Orbiter payload system. The arm flexibility is incorporated into the equations by the computation of flexibility terms for use in the joint servo model. The approach developed in this report is based on using the Jacobian transformation matrix to transform force and velocity terms between the configuration space and the task space to simplify the form of the equations

Natural Enemies of Alfalfa Weevil, \u3ci\u3eHypera Postica\u3c/i\u3e (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), in Minnesota
Alfalfa weevil, Hypera postica, is present throughout Minnesota. How- ever, economically damaging populations seldom occur, due to a combination of natural enemies and adverse climatic conditions. Five natural enemies of alfalfa weevil were found in Minnesota. Microctonus aethiopoides (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), a parasitoid of adults, was recovered from 43 of 65 counties surveyed during 1984 and 1985. Tetrastichus incertus (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) and Bathyplectes curculionis (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae), parasitoids of larvae, were each recovered from 13 of 15 counties surveyed during 1991-1993. Bathyplectes anurus, another parasitoid of larvae, was recovered from one county In 1991, four counties in 1992, and six counties in 1993. Zoophthora phytonomi (Entomophthora: Entomophthoraceae), a pathogen of larvae, was recovered from 14 of 15 counties surveyed in 1991-1993. Winters with low minimum temperatures and little snow cover were detrimental to the weevil. Usually, southeastern Minnesota has milder winters and higher alfalfa weevil populations than other areas of the State. However, even here, because of natural enemies, weevil populations seldom reach economically damaging levels
Self-regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) for Writing: A Tier 2 Intervention for Fifth Grade
The purpose of this study was to examine whether Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) for writing could be used as a Tier 2 intervention to improve the writing of fifth grade students identified as performing below the 50th percentile on AIMSweb curriculum-based measures of correct writing sequences (WE-CBM CWS). Results of RMANOVA indicated that students in the SRSD Group made significant improvements in their WE-CBM mean score compared to the Control Group from pre- to post-test. Additional analyses using a modified WE-CBM that added one minute for students to organize their writing thoughts (EWE-CBM) did not show significant improvements to mean CWS scores. Qualitative analyses indicated that the intervention teacher and SRSD students found the intervention method to be easy to follow, helped improve their writing, and that they will use it again in the future. Evidence from this study suggests that SRSD can be effectively used as a Tier 2 writing intervention within a multi-tiered system of supports model. The limitations and implications for practice are discussed
More Graduates, Less Criminals? The Economic Impacts of the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program
Although an abundance of research indicates that private schooling can benefit individual children through higher test scores, the effects on society are less clear. We monetize and forecast the social impacts of the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP) in the United States. We use existing literature on the impacts of the MPCP on criminal activity and graduation rates. Between 2016 and 2035, students who use a voucher in the MPCP will generate additional economic benefits of 26 million associated with fewer felonies and misdemeanors, relative to their traditional public school peers

Clostridium difficile infection in the United States: A national study assessing preventive practices used and perceptions of practice evidence
We surveyed 571 US hospitals about practices used to prevent Clostridium difficile infection (CDI). Most hospitals reported regularly using key CDI prevention practices, and perceived their strength of evidence as high.
