Comparison of Snapper Scales as Embellishment in Couture

In 2017, snapper scales was first processed by Riyani Putri. In her research, she focused on processing snapper scales as beads, and applying them using embroidery techniques. Based on the results of the above research, the writer see an opportunity to be able to further explore snapper scales material as a new alternative material, especially embellishment material for fashion products. The writer will then expand the exploration to focus on developing and optimizing snapper scales material as one of the embellishment material innovations applied to couture, which is the highest level in fashion classification pyramid. This level is influenced by several elements including the choice of material used i.e. the quality and luxurious embellishment material. The aim of this study is to prove that snapper scales can be process, functioned and used equally compare to other embellishment. The unique characteristic of the scales itself makes this material worth selling and can be applied to fashion couture using embroidery design technique. The writer will then make further exploration by developing series of steps according to snapper scales characteristics based on embroidery technique and with the application of embellishment material in general. The result of this exploration is expected to be an innovation and new material variation that can be developed in couture design. Methodology used in this study is comparative method by comparing snapper scales with other embellishment materials in general including beads, sequins, and stones. Based on this comparison we will get new information about what is the most appropriate technique snapper scales can be applied into couture clothing. Copyright @ 1993 American Institute of Physics.A three stage model for the adsorption of nonionic surfactants is proposed which makes use of existing theory from studies of random sequential adsorption. The model is simulated and the adsorption curves are found. The theory of random sequential adsorption is used to calculate the coverage exactly at the end of each of the three stages

    Extending Quantum Coherence in Diamond

We experimentally demonstrate over two orders of magnitude increase in the coherence time of nitrogen vacancy centres in diamond by implementing decoupling techniques. We show that equal pulse spacing decoupling performs just as well as non-periodic Uhrig decoupling and has the additional benefit that it allows us to take advantage of "revivals" in the echo (due to the coherent nature of the bath) to explore the longest coherence times. At short times, we can extend the coherence of particular quantum states out from T_2*=2.7 us out to an effective T_2 > 340 us. For preserving arbitrary states we show the experimental importance of using pulse sequences, that through judicious choice of the phase of the pulses, compensate the imperfections of individual pulses for all input states. At longer times we use these compensated sequences to enhance the echo revivals and show a coherence time of over 1.6 ms in ultra-pure natural abundance 13C diamond.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures; minor syntax/typo. changes and updated reference

Experimental Demonstration of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger Correlations Using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

The Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) effect provides an example of quantum correlations that cannot be explained by classical local hidden variables. This paper reports on the experimental realization of GHZ correlations using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The NMR experiment differs from the originally proposed GHZ experiment in several ways: it is performed on mixed states rather than pure states; and instead of being widely separated, the spins on which it is performed are all located in the same molecule. As a result, the NMR version of the GHZ experiment cannot entirely rule out classical local hidden variables. It nonetheless provides an unambiguous demonstration of the "paradoxical" GHZ correlations, and shows that any classical hidden variables must communicate by non-standard and previously undetected forces. The NMR demonstration of GHZ correlations shows the power of NMR quantum information processing techniques for demonstrating fundamental effects in quantum mechanics.Comment: Latex2.09, 8 pages, 1 eps figur

Parallel Information Transfer in a Multi-Node Quantum Information Processor

We describe a method for coupling disjoint quantum bits (qubits) in different local processing nodes of a distributed node quantum information processor. An effective channel for information transfer between nodes is obtained by moving the system into an interaction frame where all pairs of cross-node qubits are effectively coupled via an exchange interaction between actuator elements of each node. All control is achieved via actuator-only modulation, leading to fast implementations of a universal set of internode quantum gates. The method is expected to be nearly independent of actuator decoherence and may be made insensitive to experimental variations of system parameters by appropriate design of control sequences. We show, in particular, how the induced cross-node coupling channel may be used to swap the complete quantum states of the local processors in parallel.Comment: revtex4-1; 7 pages; 5 figures. Downhill exercise alters immunoproteasome content in mouse skeletal muscle

Content of the immunoproteasome, the inducible form of the standard proteasome, increases in atrophic muscle suggesting it may be associated with skeletal muscle remodeling. However, it remains unknown if the immunoproteasome responds to stressful situations that do not promote large perturbations in skeletal muscle proteolysis. The purpose of this study was to determine how an acute bout of muscular stress influences immunoproteasome content. To accomplish this, wildtype (WT) and immunoproteasome knockout lmp7-/-/mecl1-/-(L7M1) mice were run downhill on a motorized treadmill. Soleus muscles were excised 1 and 3 days post-exercise and compared to unexercised muscle(control). Ex vivophysiology, histology and biochemical analyses were used to assess the effects of immunoproteasome knockout and unaccustomed exercise. Besides L7M1 muscle being LMP7/MECL1deficient, no other major biochemical, histological or functional differences were observed between the control muscles. In both strains, the downhill run shifted the force-frequency curve to the right and reduced twitch force, however did not alter tetanic force or inflammatory markers. In the days post-exercise, several of the proteasome 's catalytic subunits were upregulated. Specifically, WT muscle increased LMP7 while L7M1 muscle instead increased ≤ 5. These findings indicate that running mice downhill results in subtle contractile characteristics that correspond to skeletal muscle injury, yet does not appear to induce a significant inflammatory response. Interestingly, this minor stress activated the production of specific immunoproteasome subunits; that if knocked out, were replaced by components of the standard proteasome. These data suggest that the immunoproteasome may be involved in maintaining cellular homeostasis. This study was supported by the Elaine and Robert Larson Endowed Vision Research Chair (to DAF), the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Aging (T32-AG29796 to CWB), an anonymous benefactor for Macular Degeneration Research, the Lindsay Family Foundation and an unrestricted grant from Research to Prevent Blindness to the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences.
