The study of photophysical and photochemical properties of ruthenium complexes is of great interest for fundamental practical reasons. Ruthenium complexes have been investigated for use in artificial photosynthesis. This paper deals with the synthesis and spectroscopic investigation of custom-designed ruthenium complexes containing phenanthroline and chloro-phenanthroline ligands. These complexes maybe useful for biological electron-transfer studies. The heteroleptic ruthenium monomer complex Ru(phen)2(Cl-phen) (where phen = 1,10-phenanthroline and Cl-phen=5-chloro-1,10-phenanthroline) was prepared in a two-step procedure previously developed in our laboratory. This monomer complex was used to prepare the ruthenium homometallic dimer complex, (phen)2Ru(phen-phen)Ru(phen)2, by utilizing the Ni-catalyzed coupling reaction. Both complexes were purified by extensive column chromatography. The identity and the integrity of the monomer complex were confirmed by elemental analysis. The calculated and the experimental values for the elemental analysis were in good agreement for the monomer complex. UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy, emission spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry were used to investigate the properties of both the complexes

Colonial architecture was present in Indonesia through the work of Dutch architects and was intended for the Dutch who lived in Indonesia around the beginning of the 17th century until 1942. At first, Europeans came to Indonesia to trade, then they built houses and settlements in several cities close to ports in Indonesia. Their houses generally have walls made of boards and wood with roof coverings made of palm fiber, but conflicts often occur, so the fortress begins. Inside, several buildings were built from brick materials imported from European countries. After that, they built many houses, churches, and public buildings with urban planning and architecture similar to their home countries. The story of colonial houses in Bandung began around 200 years after the Dutch East Indies government built a connecting road between Bandung and Batavia, Bandung was nominated as the capital of the Dutch East Indies, by moving Batavia to Bandung. The preparatory steps include building government buildings and settlements with a good spatial plan. So that at that time, the city of Bandung experienced intensive development. Gemeente-werken Bandung with the command of Ir. F.J.L. Ghijsels built 750 modern buildings for the current size, as part of the preparation for the capital\u27s move. The development also made Bandung save a lot of Indo-European-style architectural works. This made Bandung at that time nicknamed The Most European City in the East Indies. The method used in this study is qualitative with more emphasis on the analysis of several colonial buildings in the city of Bandung, especially the front facade consisting of the shape of the facade, doors, windows, roofs and ornaments. analysis by taking several examples of colonial buildings in the city of Bandung then in the analysis of the front view of the building. Photoelectrochemical Detection of Dengue-Related Oligonucleotide Sequence Using Anthocyanin as an Intercalating Agent and Electrochromic Material

World Health Organization (WHO) presupposes a confirmation of dengue virus infection diagnosis with two criteria, i.e. clinical and laboratory criteria. One of the basic methods used by most laboratories to diagnose dengue virus is to detect oligonucleotide sequence using a DNA amplification technique. In this research, the measurement of denguerelated oligonucleotide was conducted by photoelectrochemical method. The presence of oligonucleotide sequence in target DNA can be detected by DNA probe that is immobilized on TiO2 electrode. The DNA hybrid is then bound to electrochromic substance like anthocyanin that generates current when it is subjected to light. The photocurrent is directly proportional to the number of target DNA. The aim of this research is to obtain photoelectrochemical system that has sensitivity and high responsiveness toward the change in oligonucleotide concentration, especially the applicability of anthocyanin as a electrochromic substance and intercalating agent. Linearity (R2) generated from the change of current in response to concentration changes of target DNA (in the concentration range of 0.75–3.00 nM) is 0.9611. Thus, this method has the potential to be developed to detect the presence of dengue virus in biological sample

Analisis Kekuatan Struktur Kereta Barang “Flat Wagon” = Strength Analysis Of Flat Wagon Structures

This paper describes strength analysis for the flat wagon. The analysis is conducted by experiment methods using testing the flat wagon prototype with static loads such as vertical load, compression load, twist load, jacking load, and combination of them. The result of test such as stress and camber is analyzed against the design requirement and national regulation to assess the reliability of the flat wagon structure. The result of test shows that the critical area under compression load and vertical load occurs at the “end center sill” and the “central center sill”, respectively. Maximum stress of the flat wagons structure is 271.32 N/mm2 equal to 76.4% of yield stress of base material. It occurs at combination of vertical and compression loads. It indicates that the flat wagon structure is feasible to be operated with maximum capacity of 40 tons

Accordingly, restoration of coronary perfusion as early as possible, preferably with primary percutaneous coronary intervention, is the recommended treatment by the European Society of Cardiology, to maximise myocardial salvage. However, not all cases of STEMI are because of coronary artery occlusion. ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction that occurs in the absence of obstructive coronary artery disease on angiography has been termed myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA). Case A 44-year-old man was admitted with retrosternal chest pain radiating to the left arm and jaw, and electrocardiogpresentation raphy showed extensive anterior ST-segment elevation. Emergency coronary angiography showed all three coronary arteries were patent with Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction-3 flow and no evidence of dissection or thrombus. The ST-elevation and pain resolved spontaneously. Troponin-T level rose from <3 ng/L on arrival to 549 ng/L at 12 h. Subsequent cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a structurally normal heart (without late gadolinium enhancement) but detected an incidental large, lobulated (90 * 31 * 71 mm) mediastinal mass containing multiple cysts in the anterior mediastinum with inflammation and oedema of the parietal pericardium. Tissue biopsy confirmed Hodgkin's lymphoma and the patient was initiated on chemotherapy. Discussion Some 3% of ST-segment myocardial infarctions occur in the absence of obstructive coronary disease (MINOCA), is more frequent in younger patients. Cardiac MRI is a useful tool to both identify some of the potential causes of MINOCA and also to confirm the diagnosis of infarction. Some 26% of MINOCA patients have significant biochemical evidence of myocardial injury but have a normal cardiac MRI. This case illustrates a very rare cause of myocardial infarction in a young patient with unobstructed coronary arteries, and highlights the need in such cases for further detailed imaging of the myocardium and thorax to establish the diagnosis and initiate appropriate treatment.Peer reviewedFinal Published versio

    Learning Materials in Character Education

Since in 1976, sociology officially became one of the subjects taught in senior high school programs throughout Indonesia. There are still several major problems in teaching it in particular the lack of locally relevant teaching materials and the lack of teachers with a background in sociology. The aim of this study is to find better ways for the teaching of sociology and for students to learn the principles of sociology and to find the best of teaching materials available for constructing a better paradigm for character education and also to identify the various barriers and difficulties inhibiting the provision of highly successful character education through the study of sociology. Most of the results showed that in teaching sociology in Banda Aceh the implementation of teaching character based on local wisdom has major problems and obstacles. In particular the standardized national education program ending with standardized national final examinations emphasizes rote learning unrelated to the real life of the students. This raises contradictions because the centrally prepared material makes it difficult to introduce local indigenous values, culture and traditions

Nematic Liquid Crystal Composite Materials for DC and RF Switching

Liquid Crystals (LCs) are widely used in display devices, electro-optic modulators, and optical switches. A field-induced electrical conductivity modulation in pure liquid crystals is very low which makes it less preferable for direct current (DC) and radio-frequency (RF) switching applications. According to the literature, a conductivity enhancement is possible by nanoparticle doping. Considering this aspect, we reviewed published works focused on an electric field-induced conductivity modulation in carbon nanotube-doped liquid crystal composites (LC-CNT composites). A two to four order of magnitude switching in electrical conductivity is observed by several groups. Both in-plane and out-of-plane device configurations are used. In plane configurations are preferable for micro-device fabrication. In this review article, we discussed published works reporting the elastic and molecular interaction of a carbon nanotube (CNT) with LC molecules, temperature and CNT concentration effects on electrical conductivity, local heating, and phase transition behavior during switching. Reversibility and switching speed are the two most important performance parameters of a switching device. It was found that dual frequency nematic liquid crystals (DFNLC) show a faster switching with a good reversibility, but the switching ratio is only two order of magnitudes. A better way to ensure reversibility with a large switching magnitude is to use two pairs of in-plane electrodes in a cross configuration. For completeness and comparison purposes, we briefly reviewed other nanoparticle- (i.e., Au and Ag) doped LC composite’s conductivity behavior as well. Finally, based on the reported works reviewed in this article on field induced conductivity modulation, we proposed a novel idea of RF switching by LC composite materials. To support the idea, we simulated an LC composite-based RF device considering a simple analytical model. Our RF analysis suggests that a device made with an LC-CNT composite could show an acceptable performance. Several technological challenges needed to be addressed for a physical realization and are also discussed briefly
