    The Potential Value of EGFR and P53 Immunostaining in Tumors of the Urinary Bladder

    The expression of EGFR and p53 has not been adequately studied as a prognostic tool in urinary bladder tumors. We analyzed 74 bladder cancer samples from Egypt for EGFR and p53 expression using immunohistochemistry. The tumors were of different histological types, grades and clinical stages, and with established lymph node status. Almost 61% of the tumors showed positive membranous EGFR expression and 74.3% had positive nuclear staining of p53. Analysis of correlation of the IHC staining with clinical variables showed a significant correlation only between EGFR expression and histological type (p=0.002, ANOVA), in that the expression was higher in squamous cell carcinomas than in other histological types. There were no significant correlations between p53 or EGFR with the other clinicopathological variables, including age, sex, staging, grading, and lymph node status. Further studies are needed to determine if EGFR and p53 might be used as prognostic tools in bladder cancer.Key words: Bladder cancer, p53, EGFR, Immunohistochemistry, Clinical data

    Stationary Distribution and Eigenvalues for a de Bruijn Process

    We define a de Bruijn process with parameters n and L as a certain continuous-time Markov chain on the de Bruijn graph with words of length L over an n-letter alphabet as vertices. We determine explicitly its steady state distribution and its characteristic polynomial, which turns out to decompose into linear factors. In addition, we examine the stationary state of two specializations in detail. In the first one, the de Bruijn-Bernoulli process, this is a product measure. In the second one, the Skin-deep de Bruin process, the distribution has constant density but nontrivial correlation functions.     "Pseudosarcoma" in a pregnant woman

    BACKGROUND: Intravascular fasciitis (IVF) is a rare benign condition characterised by reactive myofibroblastic proliferation arising from the superficial or deep fascia and involving arteries and/or veins. It is a distinct variant of the more common condition of nodular fasciitis, which possesses similar clinical and histological features to IVF, but lacks vascular invasion. A thorough review of the literature revealed 26 reported cases of IVF. CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case of IVF in a 16-week pregnant lady affecting the hypothenar eminence of the hand associated with the ulnar artery. CONCLUSION: The characteristic involvement of muscular arteries and veins by reactive myofibroblastic proliferation in IVF suggests a malignant component and often leads to an inappropriate diagnosis for this benign condition. We propose that hormone-related changes associated with pregnancy may play an important role in the aetiopathogenesis of this myofibroblastic lesion

    Perbandingan Hidrograf Satuan Sub-DAS Cisadane untuk Analisis Banjir Tapak RDNK Serpong

    Perhitungan resiko banjir dalam melakukan perencanaan pembangunan suatu bangunan sipil tidak terkecuali Fasilitas pembangkit listrik tenaga nuklir sangat penting dilakukan. Dengan perhitungan dan perencanaan debit banjir yang tepat akan mengurangi resiko kegagalan bangunan. Studi ini dilakukan dalam rangka menjamin keselamatan tapak termasuk Fasilitas Reaktor Daya Non Komersial (RDNK) dan membandingkan berbagai hidrograf satuan yang dapat menggambarkan kondisi karakteristik tapak. Tujuan dari studi ini adalah untuk mengetahui karakteristik Sub DAS daerah aliran sungai Cisadane. Pemodelan hidrologi dilakukan dengan menggunakan Hec-GeoHMS (processing) dan HEC HMS. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah karakteristik DAS, model hirograf snyder dan SCS serta perbandingan nilai debit puncak hidrograf terukur dengan kedua model hidrograf tersebut. Hidrograf Snyder memiliki nilai debit puncak 1148,8 m3/dt yang mendekati nilai hidrograf terukur sebesar 1153,0 m3/dt dibandingkan dengan metode SCS yaitu 1186,8 m3 /s. Berdasarkan hal ini maka hidrograf satuan Snyder mempunyai nilai akurasi yang lebih sesuai dengan kondisi lapangan dibandingkan dengan hidrograf satuan SCS

    Sistem pemantaun air layak komsumsi pada masyarakat masih kurang efisien dan salah satu tujuan perancangan alat ini untuk merancang dan menguji serta memantau air layak konsumsi berbasis Mikrokontroler. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah sensor pH dan sensor Turbility berbasis Mikrokontroler,serta menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Alat dapat membaca Alat dapat membaca kadar pH air 6,5-8,5 dan nilai NTU air 0–2 dengan nilai yang didapatkan dari sensor pH dan sensor turbility ini masyarakat sudah mengetahui standar air yang bisa di gunakan. Kesimpulan alat sistem pemantauan air layak komsumsi, untuk masyrakat sudah dapat bekerja dengan baik dengan derajat keasaman serta kekeruhan air,yang sudah teruji secara menyeluru
