    ROBUST SMOOTHING OF SIGNALS

    Get PDF
The problem of the extraction of the useful signal from a noisy background is one of the most important areas of signal processing. Order Statistic (OS) smoothers, based on amplitude ordering of signal samples, have been shown to offer an effective alternative to linear smoothers. It is the case particularly when there is uncertainty concerning noise statistics, or when the useful signal possesses local features such as sharp edges. In this paper we consider some linear and nonlinear (OS) smoothers, and propose a new smoothing algorithm. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed smoother

Horizon Quantum Mechanics for spheroidal sources

We start investigating the extension of the Horizon Quantum Mechanics to the case of spheroidal sources. We first study the location of trapping surfaces in space-times resulting from an axial deformation of static isotropic systems, and show that the Misner-Sharp mass evaluated on the corresponding undeformed spherically symmetric space provides the correct gravitational radius to locate the horizon. We finally propose a way to determine the deformation parameter in the quantum theory.Comment: 14 pages, 1 figure, final version to appear in EP

Lecturers are one of the essential components in an education system in higher education. The roles, tasks and responsibilities of lecturers are very meaningful in realizing the goals of national education, which are to educate the life of the nation, improve the quality of Indonesian people, cover faith and piety, noble character, and mastery of science, technology, and adaptation. Therefore it is necessary to pay great attention to matters relating to improving the performance of lecturers so that lecturers can carry out their tasks more professionally. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the performance of Permanent Lecturers at Buton Muhammadiyah University. These factors are motivation, competency, leadership, and work environment. The subjects in this study were Permanent Lecturers at the University of Muhammadiyah Buton. The study was conducted using a questionnaire as an primary data collection instrument. Samples taken as many as 40 lecturers using the convinience samling method. To measure the factors that influence the performance of Permanent Lecturers at Buton Muhammadiyah University, multiple analysis is used. The results showed that the motivation, leadership competency, and the work environment of the lecturer had a positive influence on the performance of the Permanent Lecturer at Buton Muhammadiyah University

This study aims to determine the total cost, production volume, selling price and the amount of revenue that the respondent farmers in the village of Taipa, so farms are run reach break-even point or in other words the farm does not lose nor gain profits. Determining the location of research done intentionally purposive, with the consideration that the Taipa Village is one of the producers of onion varieties Palu valley with a pretty good productivity in the district north of Palu. The analytical method used is the break-even point. The results showed that, total cost of cultivation of onion varieties Palu valley Rp. 20.947.755,92 per growing season, acceptance of Rp. 38,522, 362,87 per season with earned income of Rp. 17.574.606,95 per growing season, break-even point production of 93,73 kg and the break-even point at Rp. 1,874,600

The Incidence of Repeat Breeding in Dairy Cows Under Tropical Condition

The objective of this study was to investigate the incidence of repeat breeding in dairy cows under tropical condition. This was a preliminary study conducted in Sinjai Regency, Indonesia. A total of 82 Holstein Friesian lactating cows from five dairy farmer groups were used in the present study. Of the 82 cows, 75.6% eventually became pregnant after repeated inseminations (AI). The incidence of repeat breeding in this area was very high (62%). Days in milk (DIM) at first AI, first AI conception rate, and calving to conception interval were 62.5±19.3 days, 0%, and 202.8±150.0 days, respectively. There was no difference in DIM at first AI between repeat breeders and normal fertility cows (60.4±15.2 days vs 68.3±28.6 days). However, normal fertility cows required only 123.3±52.9 days to conceive and 2.4±0.8 inseminations per pregnancy, whereas repeat breeders required significantly more days to conceive (222.9±134.1 days) and more inseminations per pregnancy (4.8±0.9). In conclusion, repeat breeder dairy cows under tropical condition had very poor and reduced reproductive performance

Bayesian Tobit quantile regression using-prior distribution with ridge parameter

    Get PDF
A Bayesian approach is proposed for coefficient estimation in the Tobit quantile regression model. The proposed approach is based on placing a g-prior distribution depends on the quantile level on the regression coefficients. The prior is generalized by introducing a ridge parameter to address important challenges that may arise with censored data, such as multicollinearity and overfitting problems. Then, a stochastic search variable selection approach is proposed for Tobit quantile regression model based on g-prior. An expression for the hyperparameter g is proposed to calibrate the modified g-prior with a ridge parameter to the corresponding g-prior. Some possible extensions of the proposed approach are discussed, including the continuous and binary responses in quantile regression. The methods are illustrated using several simulation studies and a microarray study. The simulation studies and the microarray study indicate that the proposed approach performs well

    Bow-Tie Microstrip Antenna Design

    Get PDF
In this paper, the bow-tie microstrip antennas have been designed with two different angles of 40° and 80°. An investigaton on the effect of the angle to the return loss and radiation patterns had been carried out. The impedance matching network with the niicrostrip transmission line feeding was used in this study. Simulation and measurement results for the return loss and radiation patterns were presented

Fairness Evaluation in Cooperative Hybrid Cellular Systems

Many method has been applied previously to improve the fairness of a wireless communication system. In this paper, we propose using hybrid schemes, where more than one transmission scheme are used in one system, to achieve this objective. These schemes consist of cooperative transmission schemes, maximal ratio transmission and interference alignment, and non-cooperative schemes, orthogonal and non-orthogonal schemes used alongside and in combinations in the same system to improve the fairness. We provide different weight calculation methods to vary the output of the fairness problem. We show the solution of the radio resource allocation problem for the transmission schemes used. Finally, simulation results is provided to show fairness achieved, in terms of Jain's fairness index, by applying the hybrid schemes proposed and the different weight calculation methods at different inter-site distances

Education is the right of all children without exception. However, the main one of the main problems of education in Indonesia is not all children have access to education. Not only economic issues but also include physical or psychological conditions that are “different” with children in general, or better known as disbilitas. They (disbalitas) are vulnerable to marginalization especially in the field of education. In the last 10 years the Indonesian government has launched inclusive education and the main purpose is to accommodate the rights of every child to be able to not only disability. Hope that further is to realize the ideals of the 1945 Constitution that “the intellectual life of the nation”
