<Original Article> A Revised Method of Labeling Mouse IgG with Yttrium-90

We report the successful labeling of mouse IgG with yttrium-90 (Y-90) using isothiocyanatobenzyl-ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (SCN-Bz-EDTA) as a chelating agent and compared the result with labeling by indium-111 (In-111). After conjugating IgG with SCN-Bz-EDTA, a predetermined volume of conjugated IgG was mixed with different volumes of either Y-90 or In-111 acetate and incubated at 37℃. Labeling efficiency was assessed at specific intervals upto 3 hr. After 3 hr, the mixtures were challenged with Na2EDTA to evaluate the transchelation of labeled Y-90 or In-111. All mixtures showed labeling efficiency of around 50% with Y-90 and the leveling was fairly preserved even after Na2EDTA challenge. However, labeling with In-111 was unsuccessful when conjugated IgG was not separated from the unconjugated form. When separated, however, In-111 showed more than 80% labeling efficiency though labeling with In-111 could not tolerate Na2EDTA challenge. In conclusion, IgG was efficiently labeled by Y-90 using SCN-Bz-EDTA though labeling with In-111 showed some problems associated with this method.journal articl

Contribution of electronic structure to the large thermoelectric power in layered cobalt oxides

With a strong help of high-resolution photoemission spectroscopy we demonstrate in this paper that the large thermoelectric power observed in the layered cobalt oxides, such as Ca_3Co_4O_9, Na_0.6CoO_2, and Bi_2Sr_2Co_2O_9, can be well accounted for with the Boltzmann-type metallic electrical conduction. An intense peak with 1.5–2 eV in width was observed in the photoemission spectra with its center at 1.0 eV below the Fermi level E_F in these compounds. The density of states at E_F is finite but negligibly small at room temperature, because E_F is located near the high-energy edge of this narrow band. We calculated thermoelectric power S using the Boltzmann transport equation with the electronic structure near E_F determined by the photoemission measurement. The calculated S shows fairly good consistency with the measured value both in its magnitude and the temperature dependence.journal articl

Guideline and Tool for Designing an Assembly Task Support System Using Augmented Reality

    Get PDF
Augmented reality (AR) systems support complex tasks like assembly by overlaying task-related content onto the real world. In recent years, the effort of designing and developing assembly task support systems in AR decreased with the availability of high potential head-mounted displays and provision of integrated development environments. Nevertheless, problems still arise when companies craft an effective AR task support system, particularly in the difficulty of selecting appropriate techniques and information-presentation methods, and the requirements that vary with each use case. In this study, we formulated a corresponding guideline, developed a selection aid tool that incorporates filtering based on the categorization of subtasks and the degree of freedom of available tracking, and evaluated their effectiveness in two experiments. First, to confirm effects on system design, we asked 18 participants to perform the design action of the AR system with the guideline for two tasks (PC assembly and rope work). Consequently, to verify the quality of the designed AR systems from Experiment 1, we asked another set of 20 participants to perform the same tasks with those systems. The results confirm that using the guideline can considerably lower efforts creating media and alleviate the error for a specific process. We envision our guideline and tool to be accessible as an online web page, assisting AR assembly task support system designer/developers worldwide.conference pape
