Get PDF
The aim of the study was to identify anthropometric variables that discriminate the male volleyball players according to different playing positions i.e., libero (n=16), setter (n=16), and middle blocker (n=20). The anthropometric variables included Standing height, Body weight, Arm length, Wrist circumference, Palm width, Thigh circumference, Calf circumference and Leg length. Multiple Discriminant functions revealed five significant function (p<0.05) i.e. height, weight, arm length, thigh circumference and wrist circumference; which primarily represented in different playing positions. After validation, the analysis showed that 90.4 % of players were correctly classified in their respective playing position

Grid Connected Energy System four leg Inverter for DC Voltage and Power Improvement

Get PDF
The first power systems were DG systems designed to meet the needs of local areas.Full load DG applications showed greater benefits in terms of power and performance as well as reducing transmission losses. GDs are very suitable for a specific location and for specific applications because they require a short construction time and require little investment. It is defined on the basis of the size of the plant, which can vary from a few KW to MW (10-50 MW). GD options can be classified as renewable or non-renewable sources from fuel sources. This study deals with a newly-conceived voltage control method for three-phase four-leg voltage source inverters (VSIs) which are being required in autonomous power generating units devoted to supply both three-phase and single-phase electrical load

Gene diversity among some endogamous population of Amravati District, Maharashtra, India.

The present work deals with the distribution of ABO, Rh and sickling alleles as markers to study the genetic structure and micro-demarcation among castes and tribal populations from the Amravati district of Maharashtra. Three loci namely, ABO, Rh and sickling were selected to measure the relative frequency of respective alleles in ten (10) endogamous populations inhabiting the Amravati District. The ABO locus was found to be less polymorphic when compared with other loci. On the other hand, Rh and sickling loci were found to be more polymorphic. Construction of a dendrogram using allele frequency data reveals an interesting relationship among the caste and tribe. An analysis shows three major clades comprising A, B and C. Clade A comprises Islamic Dawoodi Bohra and Hindu Gujrati. Clade B comprises the upper castes, Brahmin, Jain, Kashmiris and Kunbis, while Clade C shows Gonds and Katchhi. This study is a first attempt to provide a genetic landscape of castes and tribes inhabiting the Vidarbha region. The findings are discussed in light of the historical, anthropological and genetic data available for the studied group

Studying the Trends of Domestic Violence in the South Asian Communities of Shelby County

Abuse in South Asian countries is a significant problem, in large part due to cultural characteristics that support patriarchal views. Unfortunately, little is known about South Asian individuals once they move to the United States. One of the primary research questions was determining the most common form of domestic violence for a South Asian population living in the US, and the role of patriarchal views for DV experiences. Primary data were collected on basic demographics, religious background, country of origin, alcohol use, frequency of abuse, and patriarchal beliefs using Qualtrics. Data were collected between May and October 2022. Multiple imputations were run for the missing values on abuse and the patriarchal belief measures. A series of logistic regressions showed that the religious background, specifically being Hindu, significantly affects the risk of ever experiencing abuse. Patriarchal belief scale is a strong predictor of abuse, although not statistically significant. Finally, mental/emotional abuse is more commonly experienced in South Asian communities in Shelby County than any other abuse. These results are consistent with the current literature and thus, highlight the need for more research and domestic violence related culturally specific and relevant resources for the South Asian communities in the Shelby County area

One-pot synthesis of spiro-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrroles through tandem nucleophilic cyclisation reaction

Get PDF
A very simple and convenient one-pot synthesis of spiro-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrrole has been developed while synthesising the 2,2,5-trisubstituted pyrrolidines. Initially, the Meldrum’s acid has been treated with a,b-unsaturated ketones in presence of anhydrous carbonate base and phase transfer catalyst benzyltriethylammonium chloride in acetonitrile to afford the Michael adduct which is readily converted to the corresponding oxime using standard conditions. The crude oxime is treated directly with p-toluenesulfonyl chloride and in presence of excess organic base results in tandem nucleophilic cyclisation product spirobicyclic as spiro-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrrole directly, instead the tosyloxime as product.

Synthesis and characterization of biotin derivatives as multifunctional oligosaccharide tags

Get PDF
The synthesis of novel multifunctional oligosaccharide tags with amino, azido, and alkyne termini is described. Tags with an amino terminus can be introduced into the carbohydrate at the reducing end through reductive amination, while 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (“click chemistry”) can be used to label azido sugars with oligosaccharide tags having an alkyne terminus and vice versa

A CLINICAL STUDY OF EFFECT OF PATALA KSHAR IN THE MANAGEMENT OF MUTRAVAGHATA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO BENIGN PROSTATE HYPERPLASIA

Vatashtila described by Acharya Sushruta is very much similar to Benign prostate hyperplasia. No doubt that it is disease which is difficult to cure and many times requires surgical intervention. All the other treatment modalities in modern science are very costly to cure the BPH. Hence we have to face many problems to treat BPH. Reviewing all the things “A clinical study of Patalakshar in the management of Mutraghat with special reference to Benign Prostate Hyperplasia†was selected for dissertation. In this study Patala kshar given orally to the BPH patients and follow up taken on 0th, 7th and 15th day. Tamsulosin was given to control group and follow up taken on same days as trial groups. Then we were found that Patala kshar effect is most of similar to modern conservative treatment tamsulosin. On the basis of statistical analysis it concluded that Patala kshar is similarly effective to tamsulosin

Background: Various osteotomies have been in use for correction of varus deformity at elbow secondary to malunited supracondylar humerus fracture in children. The objectives of the study were to determine the efficacy & outcome of lateral closing wedge osteotomy in children as a treatment of malunited supracondylar fracture of humerus with cubitus varus and to evaluate various technical problems, morbidity, complications of Lateral closing wedge osteotomy and to suggest ways to overcome them. Methods: This prospective study was conducted among 50 cases of malunited supracondylar fracture of humerus who visited in OPD during 1st September 2008 to 31st August 2010. After pre-operative assessment, lateral closing wedge osteotomy was done and fixed with two 3.5 mm screws, figure of eight tension band stainless steel wire and a supplemental lateral k-wire. Post operatively x-ray of patient was taken and carrying angle and range of movement were calculated. Patients were re-assessed at complete union. Results: Maximum patients were from the age group of 8 to 10 years- 22 cases, mean age 13.08 years, 80% male. Left (non-dominant) side was involved in 30 (60%) cases. Around 18% cases developed complications. 25 (50%) patients had no loss of range of movement and 2 (4%) had 16 to 20 degrees loss of range of movement. Almost 36 (72%) cases had excellent outcome, 11 (22%) cases had good outcome, 3 (6%) cases had poor outcome due to loss of fixation, 47 (94%) patients/parents were satisfied with the final outcome. Conclusions: Lateral closing wedge osteotomy with a lateral K-wire is a sound, cost-effective, technically less demanding modality of treatment for varus deformity due to malunited supracondylar fracture of humerus in children with minimum complications
