The purpose of this study is to take a close look at the ideological geography of Korean social associations by studying their leaders ideologies. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, more social associations are prone to conservatism when it comes to the distribution of ideology, though progressivism, centrism and conservatism are well-balanced. Second, geographical position, type, and boundaries of social associations can be regarded as factors influencing ideology. Third, social association ideology is partly related to their attitudes towards governments role. Those who have a more conservative attitude tend to consider policy efficiency more important when evaluating government, prefer less control by the government over the market, and believe that the government can restrict peoples freedom for safety. On the other hand, more progressive social associations are in favor of the idea that we need to put natural conservation first before economic growth and that it people need to participate more in the decision-making processes of the government
