Locality and Structure Regularized Low Rank Representation for Hyperspectral Image Classification
Hyperspectral image (HSI) classification, which aims to assign an accurate
label for hyperspectral pixels, has drawn great interest in recent years.
Although low rank representation (LRR) has been used to classify HSI, its
ability to segment each class from the whole HSI data has not been exploited
fully yet. LRR has a good capacity to capture the underlying lowdimensional
subspaces embedded in original data. However, there are still two drawbacks for
LRR. First, LRR does not consider the local geometric structure within data,
which makes the local correlation among neighboring data easily ignored.
Second, the representation obtained by solving LRR is not discriminative enough
to separate different data. In this paper, a novel locality and structure
regularized low rank representation (LSLRR) model is proposed for HSI
classification. To overcome the above limitations, we present locality
constraint criterion (LCC) and structure preserving strategy (SPS) to improve
the classical LRR. Specifically, we introduce a new distance metric, which
combines both spatial and spectral features, to explore the local similarity of
pixels. Thus, the global and local structures of HSI data can be exploited
sufficiently. Besides, we propose a structure constraint to make the
representation have a near block-diagonal structure. This helps to determine
the final classification labels directly. Extensive experiments have been
conducted on three popular HSI datasets. And the experimental results
demonstrate that the proposed LSLRR outperforms other state-of-the-art methods.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures, TGRS201
A new method of accurate broken rotor bar diagnosis based on modulation signal bispectrum analysis of motor current signals
Motor current signature analysis (MCSA) has been an effective way of monitoring electrical machines for many years. However, inadequate accuracy in diagnosing incipient broken rotor bars (BRB) has motivated many studies into improving this method. In this paper a modulation signal bispectrum (MSB) analysis is applied to motor currents from different broken bar cases and a new MSB based sideband estimator (MSB-SE) and sideband amplitude estimator are introduced for obtaining the amplitude at (1±2s)fs(1±2s)fs (s is the rotor slip and fsfs is the fundamental supply frequency) with high accuracy. As the MSB-SE has a good performance of noise suppression, the new estimator produces more accurate results in predicting the number of BRB, compared with conventional power spectrum analysis. Moreover, the paper has also developed an improved model for motor current signals under rotor fault conditions and an effective method to decouple the BRB current which interferes with that of speed oscillations associated with BRB. These provide theoretical supports for the new estimators and clarify the issues in using conventional bispectrum analysis
Diagnosis of Combination Faults in a Planetary Gearbox using a Modulation Signal Bispectrum based Sideband Estimator
This paper presents a novel method for diagnosing combination faults in planetary gearboxes. Vibration signals measured on the gearbox housing exhibit complicated characteristics because of multiple modulations of concurrent excitation sources, signal paths and noise. To separate these modulations accurately, a modulation signal bispectrum based sideband estimator (MSB-SE) developed recently is used to achieve a sparse representation for the complicated signal contents, which allows effective enhancement of various sidebands for accurate diagnostic information. Applying the proposed method to diagnose an industrial planetary gearbox which coexists both bearing faults and gear faults shows that the different severities of the faults can be separated reliably under different load conditions, confirming the superior performance of this MSB-SE based diagnosis scheme
A robust detector for rolling element bearing condition monitoring based on the modulation signal bispectrum and its performance evaluation against the Kurtogram
Envelope analysis is a widely used method for rolling element bearing fault detection. To obtain high detection accuracy, it is critical to determine an optimal frequency narrowband for the envelope demodulation. However, many of the schemes which are used for the narrowband selection, such as the Kurtogram, can produce poor detection results because they are sensitive to random noise and aperiodic impulses which normally occur in practical applications. To achieve the purposes of denoising and frequency band optimisation, this paper proposes a novel modulation signal bispectrum (MSB) based robust detector for bearing fault detection. Because of its inherent noise suppression capability, the MSB allows effective suppression of both stationary random noise and discrete aperiodic noise. The high magnitude features that result from the use of the MSB also enhance the modulation effects of a bearing fault and can be used to provide optimal frequency bands for fault detection. The Kurtogram is generally accepted as a powerful means of selecting the most appropriate frequency band for envelope analysis, and as such it has been used as the benchmark comparator for performance evaluation in this paper. Both simulated and experimental data analysis results show that the proposed method produces more accurate and robust detection results than Kurtogram based approaches for common bearing faults under a range of representative scenarios
Fault severity diagnosis of rolling element bearings based on kurtogram and envelope analysis
Faults in rolling element bearing are among the main causes of breakdown in rotating machines. Vibration is an effective technique for machine condition monitoring. Vibration signals from a defective bearing with a localized fault contain a series of impulsive responses, which result from the impacts of the defective part(s) with other elements. Most researches carried out have focused on fault location identification. However, limited work has been reported for fault severity estimation, which is critical to make decision for maintenance actions. To improve current diagnostic capability, this paper pays more attention to bearing fault severity diagnosis. It models the vibration sources from bearing defects as an impact process with constant size but three different lengths corresponding to outer race fault, inner race fault and roller fault, respectively. Then an experimental study was followed to evaluate this model. Moreover, the conventional envelope analysis of the measured vibration signals from the tested faulty bearings is optimized by spectral kurtosis (SK) for automatic and reliable fault detection and fault category diagnosis. In the meantime, the diagnostic parameters for fault severity estimation: root mean squared (RMS) values and kurtosis amplitude are developed based on the model results and subsequently evaluated to be agreed vigorously with tested fault cases
A transient enhancement method for two-stage helical gearbox fault diagnosis based on ALE
Periodical impulse component is one of typical fault characteristics in vibration signals from rotating machinery. However,
this component is very small in the early stage of the fault and masked by various noises such as gear meshing
components modulated by shaft frequency, which make it difficult to extract accurately for fault detection. The adaptive
line enhancer (ALE) is an effective technique for separating sinusoidals from broad-band components of an input signal
for detecting the presence of sinusoids in white noise. In this paper, ALE is explored to suppress the periodical gear
meshing frequencies and enhance the fault feature impulses for more accurate fault diagnosis. The results obtained from
simulated and experimental vibration signals of a two stage helical gearbox prove that the ALE method is very effective
in reducing the periodical gear meshing noise and making the impulses in vibration very clear in the time-frequency
analysis. The results show a clear difference between the baseline and 30% tooth damage of a helical gear which has not
been detected successfully in authorâs previous studies
The Preparation of Au@TiO2 YolkâShell Nanostructure and its Applications for Degradation and Detection of Methylene Blue
Abstract This paper reports the synthesis of a new type of Au@TiO2 yolkâshell nanostructures by integrating ion sputtering method with atomic layer deposition (ALD) technique and its applications as visible light-driven photocatalyst and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrate. Both the size and amount of gold nanoparticles confined in TiO2 nanotubes could be facilely controlled via properly adjusting the sputtering time. The unique structure and morphology of the resulting Au@TiO2 samples were investigated by using various spectroscopic and microscopic techniques in detail. It is found that all tested samples can absorb visible light with a maximum absorption at localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) wavelengths (550â590Â nm) which are determined by the size of gold nanoparticles. The Au@TiO2 yolkâshell composites were used as the photocatalyst for the degradation of methylene blue (MB). As compared with pure TiO2 nanotubes, Au@TiO2 composites exhibit improved photocatalytic properties towards the degradation of MB. The SERS effect of Au@TiO2 yolkâshell composites was also performed to investigate the detection sensitivity of MB
Effects of Air Pollutants on Summer Precipitation in Different Regions of Beijing
Many studies have shown that air pollutants have complex impacts on urban precipitation. Meteorological weather station and satellite Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) product data from the last 20 years, combined with simulation results from the Weather Research and Forecasting model coupled with Chemistry (WRF-Chem), this paper focuses on the effects of air pollutants on summer precipitation in different regions of Beijing. These results showed that air pollution intensity during the summer affected the precipitation contribution rate (PCR) of plains and mountainous regions in the Beijing area, especially in the plains. Over the past 20 years, plains PCR increased by ~10% when the AOD augmented by 0.15, whereas it decreased with lower pollution levels. In contrast, PCR in mountainous areas decreased with higher pollution levels and increased with lower pollution levels. Our analysis from model results indicated that aerosol increases reduce the effective particle size of cloud droplets and raindrops. Smaller cloud raindrops more readily transport to high air layers and participate in the generation of ice-phase substances in the clouds, increasing the total amount of cloud water in the air in a certain time, which ultimately enhanced precipitation intensity on the plains. The removal of pollutants caused by increased precipitation in the plains decreased rainfall levels in mountainous areas
