HERDING BEHAVIOUR IN FINANCIAL MARKETS: A LITERATURE REVIEW

    Get PDF
According to the classical finance theory it is assumed that investors show rational behaviour in order to achieve maximum gain.but this approach has changed since 1980s. There are a lot of academic studies emphasizing the determining effect of human psychology in financial decisions. Behavioral finance considers the interaction between emotions and investors decisions. According to the New financial approach investors show irrational behaviours and take prejudices into the account for investment decisions as opposed to traditional perspective. Behavioral finance analyzes the market anomalies which conventional financial theories are inadequate to explain based on an assumption that individuals are not rational. While doing this, it benefits from the other sciences such as psychology, sociology, and antropology, etc. One type of behavioral finance is herd behavior. In this paper, domestic and foreign literature research on herd behavior in financial markets were analyzed

Currently, as a result of the massive continuous advancements in laser measurement technology, possibilities of map production are broadened, the loss of time and the waste of material sources are highly prevented, and the accuracy and precision of the obtained results are significantly improved. In the view of engineering concept. However, big data which are from laser point clouds have been especially used in the significant procedures of surveying studies. Programming methods are dependent in each studies. In the necessity of the applications, the coding procedure has more efficient, the data of work has increased, and time has been consumed. The coding methods have necessarily been optimized for working together especially in the big data studies. In this section, an automated survey (building facade surveying) is produced from scanning data by means of coding in MatLAB

Objective: The cell-mediated immune process by CD4+ and CD8+ lymphocyte subsets of T-cells has a major role in the pathogenesis of Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT). However, the exact mechanisms of initiation and progression of thyroid autoimmunity have not been completely clarified yet. Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is commonly recognized as playing vital roles in various autoimmune diseases. Ee aimed to investigate serum MIF levels in subjects with HT and correlate them with the level of thyroid hormones and autoantibodies. Materials and methods: This study included 93 patients with untreated Hashimoto's thyroiditis and 53 healthy controls. We measured serum levels of TSH, free T4 (FT4), free T3 (FT3), anti-Thyroglobulin autoantibody (TGAb) and anti-Thyroid peroxidase autoantibody (TPOAb) in all patients and thyroid ultrasonography was performed. The concentration of MIF was measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. Results: We enrolled 93 patients with HT (mean age; 31.3 ± 11.1 years), and 53 healthy control group (mean age; 29.3 ± 8.5 years) in the current study. The patient group consisted of 52 with euthyroid autoimmune thyroiditis, 31 with subclinical hypothyroidism and 10 with overt hypothyroidism. Serum levels of MIF were higher in patients with overt hypothyroidism (6300.9 ± 2504.3 pg/ml) than the euthyroid patients (3955.2 ± 3013.6 pg/ml) (p = 0.036). Conclusion: MIF increases in overt hypothyroidism due to the Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Further investigations are needed to explore the role of MIF in pathogenesis of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. © 2014 Ayaz et al

Surgical and Prosthetic Management of a Juvenile Ossifying Fibroma In a 5-Year-Old Child: A Clinical Report

    Get PDF
Juvenile ossifying fibroma (JOF) is a rare and benign fibro-osseous lesion of the craniofacial skeleton commonly seen in children under 15 years of age. Despite being classified as benign, JOF lesions are aggressive in nature and reach large dimensions in a short period of time. Thus, their resections may cause large orofacial defects which have serious detrimental effects on the functional and nutritional requirements of pediatric patients being in the period of growth. Therefore, its early diagnosis and proper surgical and prosthetic management are of vital importance for the survival of patients. However, no detailed reports in the literature describe the prosthetic management of large intraoral defects in pediatric patients under 10 years old

WOS: 000359512600019PubMed: 26411218Purpose: To establish serum YKL-40 concentrations in patients with endometriosis compared to age-matched healthy subjects. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional clinical study conducted in a tertiary care center. Demographics and serum YKL levels were determined and noted in a total of 63 cases (33 endometriosis patients, 30 healthy controls). Measurement of YKL-40 levels was made using a YKL-40 enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit according to the manufacturer's protocol. Results: the mean serum YKL-40 levels of the patient group was 106.0 +/- 15.9 (range 23.44 to 382.55) years, while the mean serum YKL-40 levels of the controls was 52.2 +/- 7.0 (range 22.35 to 160.0) years (p = 0.003). Conclusions: This is the first study evaluating serum YKL-40 levels in endometriosis. the present results indicate that YKL-40 levels were increased in patients with endometriosis compared to controls. the authors propose that circulating YKL-40 levels could be a novel biomarker for diagnosis and follow-up of endometriosis

    COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) Infection in Neonates: A Single-center Case Series

More than five million people worldwide have been infected with Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), and it has been reported that children are less infected than adults and newborns are less infected than children. The symptoms of COVID-19 are mild in children compared to adults and can often be asymptomatic. However, after 1 year of the epidemic, serious cases began to be reported in children, especially with mutant strains. Pediatricians need to know the diagnosis and course of these infections in newborns in terms of case management. There is still a lack of definitive information on the infection and transmission of COVID-19 in newborns. In this case series, four cases of community-acquired neonatal COVID-19 infection followed in our clinic are presented

Cure, Medine Cumhur/0000-0001-9253-6459WOS: 000333112500001PubMed: 24528623Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is associated with an increased cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk and early atherosclerosis. Epicardial adipose tissue thickness (EATT) is clinically related to subclinical atherosclerosis. in the present study, considering the major role of neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) which is an acute phase protein rapidly releasing upon inflammation and tissue injury, we aimed to evaluate NGAL levels and EATT in PCOS patients and assess their relationship with cardiometabolic factors. Methods: 64 patients with PCOS and 50 age- and body mass index-matched healthy controls were included in the study. We evaluated anthropometric, hormonal and metabolic parameters. EATT was measured by echocardiography above the free wall of the right ventricle. Serum NGAL and high-sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP) levels were measured by ELISA. Results: Mean EATT was 0,38 +/-0,16 mm in the PCOS group and 0,34 +/-0,36 mm in the control group (p = 0,144). in the obese PCOS group (n = 44) EAT was thicker compared to the obese control group (n = 41) (p = 0.026). Mean NGAL levels of the patients with PCOS were 101,98 +/-21,53 pg/ml, while mean NGAL levels were 107,40 +/-26,44 pg/ml in the control group (p = 0,228). We found a significant positive correlation between EATT and age, BMI, waist circumference, fasting insulin, HOMA-IR, triglyceride and hsCRP levels in PCOS group. Conclusions: Thickness of the epicardial adipose tissue can be used to follow the risk of CVD development in obese PCOS cases. However serum NGAL levels do not differ in patients with PCOS and control group

Objectives: Limited data are available from recent trials involving pregnant women to guide Helicobacter pylori infection diagnosis. There are no data about the presence of H. pylori in the amniotic fluid as well. Furthermore, the relation between amniotic fluid H. pylori and hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) has not been characterized yet. Materials and Methods: This is a prospective study conducted after obtaining approval from the Ethics Committee. Pregnant women undergoing amniocentesis were enrolled in the study. The stool antigen test assessed the presence of H. pylori in amniotic fluid. A perinatologist independently performed an amniocentesis. The obtained amniotic liquid was sent to the laboratory to evaluate H. pylori infection by stool H. pylori antigen assay. We determined the rate of H. pylori in amniotic fluid and assessed relations between H. pylori infection and pregnancy outcome, including HG. Results: Between May and September 2017, we enrolled 48 pregnant women who underwent amniocentesis to detect possible fetal malformations. Patients were divided into two groups regarding the HG status. There were significant differences between the groups in terms of H. pylori infection presence. Among them, 28 (58.3%) were found to have a positive H. pylori test in their amniotic fluid. The rate of HG was significantly higher (71.4%) in patients who tested positive for H. pylori in amniocentesis than the H. pylori-negative group (20%), (p<0.001). Conclusions: The study’s main new finding is that presence of H. pylori in the amniotic fluid is possible. Our data suggest that H. pylori-infected amniotic fluid is associated with the experience of past HG. The current study may have important implications for HG detection and help identify patients who would benefit from future preventive strategies. © 2020 Global Research Online. All rights reserved
