    On The Numerical Solution of Linear Fredholm-Volterra İntegro Differential Difference Equations With Piecewise İntervals

    The numerical solution of a mixed linear integro delay differential-difference equation with piecewise interval is presented using the Chebyshev collocation method. The aim of this article is to present an efficient numerical procedure for solving a mixed linear integro delay differential difference equations. Our method depends mainly on a Chebyshev expansion approach. This method transforms a mixed linear integro delay differential-difference equations and the given conditions into a matrix equation which corresponds to a system of linear algebraic equation. The reliability and efficiency of the proposed scheme are demonstrated by some numerical experiments and performed on the computer algebraic system Maple 10

    Ege Bölgesinde Konvansiyonel ve Organik Zeytin Yetiştiriciliğinin Ekonomik Analizi

    Bu çalışmada, insan beslenmesi ve sağlığı açısından çok önemli bir ürün olan zeytinin yetiştirilmesinde, konvansiyonel yöntemlere alternatif olarak organik tarım yöntemlerinin uygulanabilirliğinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma, Güney Ege Bölgesinin en önemli yağlık çeşidi olan Memecik zeytin çeşidinde Zeytincilik Araştırma Enstitüsünün Kemalpaşa üretim alanında 2004-2007 yılları arasında yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada organik parsellerde toprak verimliliğini artırmak amacıyla yeşil gübreleme, organik gübre, organik tarım yönetmeliğinde izin verilen mineral maddeler, konvansiyonel parsellerde ise kimyasal gübreler uygulanmıştır. Zeytin sineği popülasyon takibi Mc phail ve sarı yapışkan tuzaklar, zeytin güvesi ise delta tipi feremon tuzaklar ile yapılmıştır. Organik parsellerde zeytin sineği mücadelesinde Ecotrap, neemazal ve kaolin uygulamaları yapılmıştır. Konvansiyonel parsellerde mücadele Fenthion ile yapılmıştır. Organik zeytin üretiminin brüt üretim değeri ve brüt marjı geleneksel zeytin üretimime göre daha yüksek, değişken masrafı ise daha düşük bulunmuştur. Organik zeytin veriminin ise konvansiyonel zeytin verimine göre daha düşük olduğu saptanmıştı

    The effects of employee empowerment on employee job satisfaction: A study on hotels in Turkey

    Purpose – The main objective of this study is to determine the impact of employee empowerment on job satisfaction. To serve this purpose, empowerment is taken into consideration as two dimensions – i.e. behavioral and psychological – and the effect of employee empowerment on the level of job satisfaction was examined by taking these two dimensions into consideration as a whole and separately. Design/methodology/approach – A questionnaire was employed in order to collect data on job satisfaction as well as behavioral and psychological empowerment. The data collected were analyzed through correlation and regression analyses. The study covered 1,854 participants employed at five-star hotels in Turkey. Findings – The findings suggest that the most positive aspects related to job satisfaction are relations with the colleagues and physical conditions, while the most negative aspect is the wage issue, i.e. unfair payment. Furthermore, correlation and regression analyses indicate that psychological and behavioral empowerment has a significant effect on job satisfaction, and the effect is much greater when psychological and behavioral empowerment are taken as a whole. Research limitations/implications – The major limitation of this study is that it covers the employees of five-star hotels only. Another important limitation of the study is the exclusion of variables mentioned in the literature. This apart, it is thought that the study will provide some insights for managers in terms of enhancing job satisfaction and the effect of empowerment on job satisfaction as well as making a contribution to the literature. Originality/value – Studies into the relation between employee empowerment and job satisfaction on the whole focus on only one aspect of empowerment, i.e. either behavioral empowerment or psychological empowerment. This study incorporates behavioral and psychological empowerment together as the components of empowerment, unlike previous studies in the literature, in determining their effect on job satisfaction

    An FPGA implementation of givens rotation based digital architecture for computing eigenvalues of asymmetric matrix

    This paper proposes the digital circuit design that performs the eigenvalue calculation of asymmetric matrices with realvalued elements. Eigenvalues are computed iteratively through the QR algorithm. In the QR algorithm, the input matrix is factorized into orthogonal Q and upper triangular R matrix, then the RQ product is calculated to obtain an iterated matrix. For a time-efficient QR decomposition process, the Givens Rotation (GR) Principle is utilized to benefit from the parallelization feature. Parallelization is managed by the Systolic Array (SA) architecture that is created by placing Givens Generation (GG) and Row Updates (RU) blocks in a triangle array. In this paper, 4×4 input matrix is used to create a TSA architecture including n-1 diagonal (GG), and (n ∗ (n−1))/2 off-diagonal (RU) modules. In the results section, Givens Rotation is compared with the Gram Schmidt algorithm used in our previous study [1] in terms of error, and area usage.Scopus - Affiliation ID: 60105072Oca

    EXAMINATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CONCHA BULLOSA WITH NASAL SEPTUM DEVIATION AND MAXILLARY SINUS PATHOLOGIES USING CONE-BEAM COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY

    ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the relationship between concha bullosa (CB) and nasal septum deviation (NSD) with maxillary sinus pathologies with cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: The whole face CBCT data of 700 (383 male and 317 female) patients aged between 6-92 years who applied to Gaziantep University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology for any reason between 2017-2019 was evaluated retrospectively. CB, NSD and maxillary sinus pathologies were investigated on the images. Results: NSD was found as 64.3%, concha bullosa as 27.9% on the right, 24.1% on the left, and maxillary sinus pathologies were 48.6% on the right and 44.4% on the left. While NSD was towards the left, the absence of right concha bullosa was found to be significant (p < 0.05). No significant relationship was observed between the presence of CB and maxillary sinus pathologies (p > 0.05). There was no significant relationship between NSD and maxillary sinus pathologies (p > 0.05). Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between the presence of CB and NSD, but the presence of CB had no effect on maxillary sinus pathologies.     8-14 Yaş Grubu Çocukların COVID-19 Pandemi Döneminde Sağlıkla İlgili Yaşam Kalitelerinin ve Etkileyen Faktörlerin Belirlenmesi

    Amaç: Araştırmada çocukların pandemi döneminde sağlıkla ilgili yaşam kalitesi düzeyleri ve ilişkili faktörlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.Materyal ve Metot: Kesitsel tasarım tipindeki araştırma üç ayrı ilde belirlenen altı okulda 8-14 yaş arası çocuğu olan gönüllü 1221 aile üyesi ile yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada sosyo-demografik özellikler soru formu, COVID-19 pandemi sürecinde çocuğun sağlıklı yaşam biçimi davranışları soru formu ve KIDSCREEN-27 ölçeği kullanılmıştır.Bulgular: Çalışmada; erkek, 12-13 yaş grubu, dört ve daha fazla kardeşe sahip, ailesi düşük ekonomik düzeyde olan, sessiz-sakin, duygusal-alıngan, içe dönük kişilik özelliğine sahip olan çocukların yaşam kalite puanları daha düşük bulunmuştur. Ayrıca, pandemi sürecinde uyku alışkanlığı, sosyal ilişkileri, kişisel hijyen alışkanlıkları ve sağlıklı besinleri tüketim davranışları olumsuz olarak etkilenen, dersleri için kullanımları dışında ekran maruziyeti süresi artış gösteren, kitap okumaya, hobilerine, spor ve egzersize ayırdığı süre azalan çocukların yaşam kalitesi puanları da düşük bulunmuştur.Sonuç: Çalışma sonuçları düşük yaşam kalitesi riski altında olan çocuklar için planlanacak müdahale programlarına rehber olması açısından önemlidir.

    Automatic Segmentation of Land Cover in Satellite Images

    Semantic segmentation problems such as landcover segmentation rely on large amounts of annotated images to excel. Without such data for target regions, transfer learning methods are widely used to incorporate knowledge from other areas and domains to improve performance. In this study, we analyze the performance of landcover segmentation models trained on low-resolution images with insufficient data for the targeted region or zoom level. In order to boost performance on target data, we experiment with models trained with unsupervised, semi-supervised, and supervised transfer learning approaches, including satellite images from public datasets and other unlabeled sources.According to experimental results, transfer learning improves segmentation performance by 3.4% MIoU (mean intersection over union) in rural regions and 12.9% MIoU in urban regions. We observed that transfer learning is more effective when two datasets share a comparable zoom level and are labeled with identical rules; otherwise, semi-supervised learning is more effective using unlabeled data. Pseudo labeling based unsupervised domain adaptation method improved building detection performance in urban cities. In addition, experiments showed that HRNet outperformed building segmentation approaches in multi-class segmentation

    Idiopathic adrenal hematoma mimicking neoplasia: A case report

    AbstractIntroductionAdrenal haemorrhage is a relatively rare condition. If there is not a specific ethology describing adrenal hematoma, then, this is termed as ‘idiopathic adrenal hematoma’.Presentation of caseWe presented a case of idiopathic adrenal hematoma in this study. A 62-year-old woman was referred to our hospital for evaluation of a 40mm mass in the left upper abdominal cavity. The histopathological findings of the surgical specimen revealed a hematoma with normal adrenal tissue.DiscussionThe incidence of adrenal haemorrhage was found to be 1.1% regarding autopsy results. The Adrenal gland is highly vascular and vulnerable to haemorrhage. Before a surgical operation, it is difficult to diagnose idiopathic adrenal hematomas.ConclusionAn adrenal hematoma should be kept in mind when adrenal masses assessing
