Factorial structure of state - trait depression scales

The major goal of this study was to explore the factor structure of the Turkish translation of the State-Trait Depression Inventory (Spielberger, 2005). Results of the factor analyses indicated two distinct factors consisting of items reflecting the "absence" and "presence" of depression with respect to both state and trait scales of the depression inventory. The factorial structure of the Turkish version was substantially concordant with that of the original State-Trait Depression Inventory

Miura-Like Free Field Realization Of Fermionic Casimir WB(3) Algebras

    Get PDF
Starting from the well-known quantum Miura-like transformation for the non simply-laced Lie algebras B(3),we give an explicit construction of the Casimir WB(3) algebras. We reserve the notation WB(N) for the Casimir W algebras of type W(2,4,6,...,2N,N+1/2) which contains one fermionic field. It is seen that WB(3) algebra is closed an associative for all values of the central element c.Comment: 7 pages,no figures,TeX fil

A Non-Singular Universe in String Cosmology

    Get PDF
We consider the low-energy effective string action in four dimensions including the leading order-α\alpha' terms. An exact homogeneous solution is obtained. It represents a non-singular expanding cosmological model in which the tensor fields tend to vanish as tt\to \infty. The scale factor a(t)a(t) of the very early universe in this model has the time dependence a(t)2=a02+t2a(t)^2=a_0^2+t^2. The violation of the strong energy condition of classical General Relativity to avoid the initial singularity requires that the central charge deficit of the theory be larger than a certain value. The significance of this solution is discussed.Comment: RevTex, 10 pages, a new reference and related information is adde

Exact solutions of effective-mass Schrodinger equations

We outline a general method for obtaining exact solutions of Schr\"{o}dinger equations with a position dependent effective mass and compare the results with those obtained within the frame of supersymmetric quantum theory. We observe that the distinct effective mass Hamiltonians proposed in the literature in fact describe exactly equivalent systems having identical spectra and wave functions as far as exact solvability is concerned. This observation clarifies the Hamiltonian dependence of the band-offset ratio for quantum wells.Comment: 16 pages article in LaTEX (uses standard article.sty). Implications of a Quantum Mechanical Treatment of the Universe

    Get PDF
We attempt to treat the very early Universe according to quantum mechanics. Identifying the scale factor of the Universe with the width of the wave packet associated with it, we show that there cannot be an initial singularity and that the Universe expands. Invoking the correspondence principle, we obtain the scale factor of the Universe and demonstrate that the causality problem of the standard model is solved.Comment: LaTex, 5 pages, 1 figure, to be published in Mod. Advanced Electrodes for Solid Acid Fuel Cells by Platinum Deposition on CsH_(2)PO_4

    Get PDF
We demonstrate cathodes for solid acid fuel cells fabricated by vapor deposition of platinum from the metalorganic precursor Pt(acac)_2 on the solid acid CsH_(2)PO_4 at 210 °C. A network of platinum nanoparticles with diameters of 2−4 nm serves as both the oxygen reduction catalyst and the electronic conductor in the electrode. Electrodes with a platinum content of 1.75 mg/cm^2 are more active for oxygen reduction than previously reported electrodes with a platinum content of 7.5 mg/cm^2. Electrodes containing <1.75 mg/cm^2 of platinum show significantly reduced catalytic activity and increased ohmic resistance indicative of a highly discontinuous catalytic-electronic platinum network

Supersymmetric approach to exactly solvable systems with position-dependent effective masses

We discuss the relationship between exact solvability of the Schr\"{o}dinger equation with a position-dependent mass and the ordering ambiguity in the Hamiltonian operator within the frame of supersymmetric quantum mechanics. The one-dimensional Schr\"{o}dinger equation, derived from the general form of the effective mass Hamiltonian, is solved exactly for a system with exponentially changing mass in the presence of a potential with similar behaviour, and the corresponding supersymmetric partner Hamiltonians are related to the effective-mass Hamiltonians proposed in the literature.Comment: 12 pages article in LaTEX (uses standard article.sty). Minimal Scalar Sector of 3-3-1 Models without Exotic Electric Charges

    Get PDF
We study the minimal set of Higgs scalars, for models based on the local gauge group SU(3)cSU(3)LU(1)XSU(3)_c \otimes SU(3)_L \otimes U(1)_X which do not contain particles with exotic electric charges. We show that only two Higgs SU(3)LSU(3)_L triplets are needed in order to properly break the symmetry. The exact tree-level scalar mass matrices resulting from symmetry breaking are calculated at the minimum of the most general scalar potential, and the gauge bosons are obtained, together with their couplings to the physical scalar fields. We show how the scalar sector introduced is enough to produce masses for fermions in a particular model which is an E6E_6 subgroup. By using experimental results we constrain the scale of new physics to be above 1.3 TeV.Comment: LaTeX, 22 pages, 1 figure include
