    Prepuberte çocuklarda sürat ile aerobik dayanıklılık (vo2max) arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi

    The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between speed and aerobic endurance (VO2max) in prepubertal children. A total of twenty-three prepubertal children (age 11.44±0.72y); thirteen boys and ten prepubertal girls took part in this study. Each subject performed 20 m sprint test and 20m Shuttle Run Test. The relationship between speed and VO2max was analyzed by Spearman Correlation Test (pAraştırmanın amacı, prepuberte çocuklarda, sürat ile aerobik dayanıklılık arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesidir. Araştırmaya prepuberte dönemde (yaş 11.44±0.72yıl) bulunan, 10 kız ve 13 erkek olmak üzere toplam 23 çocuk gönüllü olarak katıldı. Deneklere, sürat (30 m) testi ile 20m Mekik Koşu testi uygulandı. Faktörler arası ilişkiler Spearman Korelasyon Testi kullanılarak belirlendi (p<.01). Prepuberte çocukların boy ortalamaları 140.26±6.77 cm, vücut ağırlığı 34.74±5.33 kg, 30 m sürat 6.46±0.51 sn ve VO2max 30.14±3.54 ml.kg-1.dak-1 olarak ölçüldü. Sürat ile VO2max arasında ileri derecede anlamlı bir ilişki bulundu (p<.01).Sonuç olarak, sürat ve aerobik dayanıklılık, üst seviye oyuncularda performansın önemli belirleyicilerinden olabilirler. Sürat ve aerobik dayanıklılık arasındaki ilişki, uygulanacak antrenman programlarının düzenlenmesinde önemli bir bildirim sağlayabilir

    Bu çalışmanın amacı yıldız futbolcuların (Muğla Üniversitesi Spor Klübü Yıldız Futbol Takımı) vücut kompozisyonu, vücut bileşenleri ve somatotip değişkenlerinin incelenmesi ve diğer Türk ve yabancı futbolcularla karşılaştırılarak değerlendirilmesidir. Denekler düzenli antrenman yapan, yaş ortalamaları 13.22 olan, bölgesel ligde oynayan 18 erkek futbolcudur. Araştırmaya katılan deneklere özgü yaş, boy, vücut ağırlığı, deri kıvrım ölçülerinden; biceps, triceps, sırt, suprailiac, abdominal, bacak, baldır deri kıvrım ölçümleri, çap ölçümlerinden femur bikondüler ve humerus bikondüler çap ölçümleri, çevre ölçümlerinden bicep, baldır çevre ölçümleri ve vücut yağ yüzdesi ölçümleri alındı. Deneklerin somatotip özellikleri Heat-Carter formülüne göre değerlendirildi. Deneklerin; boy uzunluğu 158,44±10,42 cm, vücut ağırlığı 47,65±8,38 kg, deri kıvrım ölçülerinden; biceps 5,75±1,54 mm, triceps 10,61±2,93mm, sırt 7,30±1,59mm, suprailiac 7,00±2,04mm, abdominal 9,91±3,98mm, bacak 13,52±4,76mm, çap ölçümlerinden; femur bikondüler 11,03±0,74 cm ve humerus bikondüler çap ölçümleri, 7,30±0,59 cm, çevre ölçümlerinden; bicep, 22,76±3,11 cm, baldır çevre ölçümleri 32,84±3,33 cm ve vücut yağ yüzdesi 5,41±1,37 mm, Endomorfi ortalamaları 4,59± 2,08, Mezomorfi ortalamaları 6,94±3,10, Ektomorfi ortalamaları 3,55± 1,34 olarak belirlendi. Sporun ilgili dallarında, sporcuların fiziksel ve antropometrik özelliklerini içeren fiziksel uygunluk değerleri, yetenek seçiminde oldukça önemlidir. Bu nedenle çalışma sonuçlarının, futbolcu seçiminde ve bu konuda yapılacak diğer çalışmalarda yararlı olacağı düşünülmektedir.The aim of this study is to determine and comparison the body composition, body components and somatotype characteristics of young soccer players (Young Soccer Team of Sport Club of Muğla University) with other national and international soccer players. Subjects were eighteen pubescent soccer players (age, 13.22y) of a team playing in regional soccer league. Skinfolds (biceps, triceps, back, suprailiac, abdominal, leg, thigh), diameters (femur and humerus biconduler), circumferences (biceps, thigh) of the body and body fat parameters were measured. Somatotype characteristics were calculated and evaluated by Heat-Carter formula. Subjects’ measurements were as; height 158.44±10.42cm, body weight 47.65±8.38kg, skinfolds; biceps 5.75±1.54mm, triceps 10.61±2.93mm, back 7.30±1.59mm, suprailiac 7.00±2.04mm, abdominal 9.91±3.98mm, leg 13.52±4.76mm; diameters; femur biconduler 11.03±0.74cm; humerus biconduler 7.30±0.59cm; circumferences, biceps 22.76±3.11cm, thigh 32.84±3.33cm and body fat percentage 5.41±1.37 %, somatotype characteristics; Endomorph; 4.59±2.08, Mezomorph; 6.94±3.10, and Ecthomorph; 3.55±1.34. In related sports, physical fitness parameters including physical and anthropometric characteristics of athletes are very important in talent identification. Therefore, results of the present study could provide important data on selection of talented players in soccer and to the other related researches.

    Long QT Syndrome: A Clinical Entity Resembling Epilepsy

    Scientific BACKGROUND: Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) is a cardiac repolarization defect, characterized by lengthened QT interval in the ECG. It can cause syncope due to rapid, polimorphic ventricular tachycardia known as Torsades de Pointes (TdP) or it may cause sudden cardiac death. This clinical entity is frequently mistaken for epilepsy. CASE: In this report, a 24-year old male patient with congenital LQTS is presented. The patient was originally followed-up for epilepsy. During the evaluation process his loss of consciousness attacks were linked with ventricular tachycardia -TdP- periods and thus a diagnosis of LQTS was reached. When cardiac arrest ocurred in this patient, "stellate ganglion blockage” was performed. CONCLUSION: One must bear LQTS in mind in all patients with suspicious-looking syncope attacks and it must not be forgotten that early diagnosis and timely therapy will save the life of the individua

    Effects of Medication Adherence in Epilepsy Patients On Quality of Life

    Objectives:This study aimed to observe epileptic patients on drug compliance and its effects on their quality of life to reveal the effects of socio-demographic and disease-related characteristics on drug compliance and quality of life.Methods:This study was performed with self-filling and face-to-face interview method with 84 epileptic patients, who were selected by a random sampling method from those who applied to GATA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital, Neurology Polyclinic, between January and June 2014. When data related to patients were collected, an introductive patient interview form, which contains information about the disease, the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale, indicating drug compliance, and the short form-36 scale, which measures quality of life, were used.Results:Patients with a high drug compliance were found to have significantly higher scores on emotional role (p<0.043), viability (p<0.000), mental health (p<0.002), and general health (p<0.000).Conclusion:We recommend making efforts to eliminate the negativity, if there is any, and to increase the quality of life by evaluating the factors that may influence drug compliance in patients on an individual basis considering low drug compliance therefore low quality of life groups

    Presentation of moyamoya disease with occipital hemorrhage: a case report

    Moyamoya disease is a cerebrovascular disease which is characterized with stenosis and occlusions at the distal part of internal carotid artery and at the proximal part of anterior and middle cerebral arteries. It rarely causes temporary or recurrent hemiparesis due to intracranial hemorrhage while symptoms like headache, convulsion, nystagmus, aphasia and ataxia may also occur. In this paper, we present a case of Moyamoya disease which was diagnosed with a 23 year old female patient who was admitted to our emergency department with headache, nausea and vomiting complaints and whose radiological findings showed occipital lobe hemorrhage

    On October 30, 2020, an earthquake with a magnitude of MW = 6.6 occurred due to the rupture of 30 to 40 kmof a normal fault in east-west direction which is approximately 12 km far away from Samos Island, Greece.During this earthquake, Bayraklı district of the city of Izmir, Turkey, which is 70 km to the epicenter, wasseverely affected despite its far location. In the scope of this study, preliminary assessment of geotechnicalaspects and structural damage which occurred in Manavkuyu neighbourhood of Bayraklı district is conducted.In this context, spectral characteristics of strong ground motion and local site effects such as soil amplification,resonance and soil nonlinearity are investigated. It is revealed that a significant amplification of rockacceleration occured due to soft and deep soil layers in the study area. Although the basin effect is consideredto strongly contribute to soil amplification, its assessment is left for further studies. Considerable amount ofsoil nonlinearity is both observed from strong motion records and effective stress based seismic responseanalysis. Finally, the observed structural damages are discussed considering aforementioned aspects.</p
