Monitoring electronic resources and devices with Nagios in ITU Library

In this study applications for "Monitoring in Libraries" used in ITU Mustafa Inan Library are presented. Nagios open source monitoring application is used in this project. The subject of "Monitoring in Librararies" covers controling the network objects (devices, servers and services) located inside and outside the library. Installation, configuration, stages and reporting of monitoring are described in detail below this work

KITS: a national system for document supply in Turkey

Purpose - The paper aims to describe a new national system for resource sharing and document supply in Turkey. Design/methodology/approach - The paper takes a historical and descriptive approach. Findings KITS has been very successful in linking academic and other institutions in Turkey to an effective and efficient system of document supply. This is illustrated by figures provided on its expansion in the last two years. Practical implications The paper is useful for all librarians concerned with national document supply systems, especially in the developing world. Originality/value - This is the first published review of the national system that is transforming document supply in Turkey, and it deals frankly with the obstacles that KITS faces, at the same time indicating the ways in which success has been achieved

New approaches for interlibrary loan operations in Turkey; KITS (Interlibrary Loan Tracking System)

In this study, we would like to introduce KITS (Interlibrary Loan Tracking System), which is an on-line system for resource sharing for the Turkish institutions. The academics of Turkish institutions and research centres from any region of Turkey can access the full-text and bibliographic scholarly e-resources on many different subjects through ANKOS (Anatolian University Libraries Consortium) since 2000 when ANKOS was established. Besides consortium activities there are many working and research groups under the ANKOS organisation. These working and research groups try to build up different kinds of professional librarianship activities. “National Resource Sharing Guideline” has been written by one of these groups named Collaboration Research Group. KITS has also been produced by the same group. KITS is an application that centralises all ILL operations and processes in different formats. The participating institutions will manage all resource sharing activities on-line. KITS is a unique and first of its kind application for the on-line resource sharing operations in Turkey, we believe that all the institutions in the higher education system will participate to the KITS project because KITS is very user friendly and the institutions would like to get their own ILL statistics easily.
