    Abstract: Red betel (Piper crocatum Ruiz Pav) is one of the plants used as traditional medicinecommunity. To determine the level of safety of long-term consumption, then tested subchronic toxicity. Thestudy aimed to determine the relationship spectrum of toxic effects of infusion with changes in levels ofserum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT) and cardiac histopathology. The study was purelyexperimental, randomized study design complete unidirectional pattern. A total of 40 Wistar rats (20 malesand 20 females), 2-3 months were divided randomly into 4 groups: control group distilled water and 1.38;2.07; 3.105 g/KgBW of red betel leaf infusion with administration once daily for 28 days. Observationswere made before treatment and on day 28 by orbital sinus sampling through to measurement of bloodlevels of SGOT be analyzed by one way ANOVA and partially dissected mouse to see the damage to theheart. The results showed there was no significant change (p 0.05) in SGOT levels compared the controlgroup. Histology showed no specific changes were observed after administrating 28 days of red betel leafinfusion.     ANTI-INFLAMMATION EFFECTS OF BIOACTIVE FRACTION DLBS0533 CONTAINING PHALERIA MACROCARPA AND NIGELLA SATIVA ON ANIMAL MODEL

    Objective:  DLBS0533 extract is a bioactive fraction obtained from combination of Phaleria macrocarpa and Nigella sativa. This present study aims to observe its potentially anti-inflammatory activities using carragenaan-induced paw edema in mice as animal model.Methods:  Mice were divided into control, positive control and dose groups. Diclofenac potassium was used as a positive control. Treatment DLBS0533 was given at dose 39, 78 and 156 mg/kg body weight (b. w.). Edema thickness was examined for 6 hours.Results:  Reduction in edema is shown in 27.26%; 30.71% and 32.72% at dose of 39, 78 and 156 mg/kg b. w., respectively. Comparation between dose groups and positive control group show that dose 156 mg/kg b. w. did not give significantly different. Therefore, dose 39 and 78 mg/kg b. w. also gave anti-inflammatory activities proved by reduction in edema.Conclusions:  Taken together, DLBS0533 potentially have anti-inflammatory activities.Â

    Peningkatan kesehatan masyarakat untuk pengendalian sindrom metabolik yang bersumber daya dari masyarakat sendiri perlu dilakukan dengan cara pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui edukasi. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat telah dilakukan tim Farmasi USD tentang edukasi dan screening sindrom metabolik pada kelompok lansia posyandu Danurejan pada tanggal 20 Juni 2022 dengan jumlah peserta 38 lansia. Sebagian besar lansia mengalami obesitas sentral (66%). Berdasarkan sindrom metabolik, terdapat 29 lansia (76%) dengan systole di atas 130 mmHg dan 16 lansia (42%) dengan diastole di atas 85 mmHg. Rerata tingkat pengetahuan tentang sindrom metabolik sebesar 58,57%. Pemeliharaan kesehatan khususnya pencegahan dan dampak sindrom metabolik perlu dilakukan terutama di kalangan lansia pada masa pandemi, sehingga kelompok populasi ini tetap terpantau kesehatannya

    Identification Bioactive Compound of Ethanol-Water Fraction of Coleus atropurpureus for Anti-rheumatic Rheumatism in CFA-induced Rats

    Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are used for pain and to slow the progression of rheumatoid arthritis. Accordingly, the discovery of rheumatoid arthritis active compounds from the ethanol-water fraction Coleus atropurpureus (EWC) was conducted to characterize the isolated compounds as well as the anti-rheumatic effects of the EWC induced Complete Freund's Adjuvant (CFA). We conducted in vivo study in rats which were randomly divided into 5 groups. Group 1 was only given CFA as a negative control. Group 2 as positive control was orally exposed to diclofenac potassium (9 mg/BW). Three groups were given different EWCs orally as follows: 11.25 mg/BW, 22.5 mg/BW, and 45 mg/BW, respectively. Rheumatism rates were then compared with positive controls using a visual arthritic scoring system. The compounds identified by isolation of the EWC of Coleus atropurpureus predicted forskolin. The ethanol-water fraction Coleus atropurpureus did not act as an anti-rheumatic arthritis agent in CFA-induced rats
