    Caratterizzazione e valutazione dell\u2019attivit\ue0 anti proliferativa di nuovi sistemi per il drug carrier Allosite-sali triazolici/cardanolo

    Da precedenti studi \ue8 stato valutato che i nanotubi di allosite modificati con sali triazolici (f-HNT), sono dei promettenti sistemi carrier per molecole biologiche1. In questo lavoro si riportano i risultati ottenuti studiando gli f-HNT come carrier per il cardanolo, molecola con interessanti attivit\ue0 biologiche. L\u2019interazione fra il cardanolo e gli f-HNT \ue8 stata valutata tramite HPLC, spettroscopia FTIR, analisi termogravimentrica, misure di angolo di contatto e microscopia a scansione elettronica. Infine sono stati studiati sia il rilascio del cardanolo dal sistema che gli effetti citotossici del complesso f-HNT/Cardanolo verso linee cellulari di epatocarcinoma. I dati sperimentali ottenuti mostrano che l\u2019allosite risulta un promettente sistema atto al drug carrier

    Water-Soluble Gold Nanoparticles Protected by Fluorinated Amphiphilic Thiolates

    The preparation and the properties of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) protected by perfluorinated amphiphiles are described. The thiols were devised to form a perfluorinated region close to the gold surface and to have a hydrophilic portion in contact with the bulk solvent to impart solubility in water. The monolayer protected clusters were prepared, in an homogeneous phase using sodium thiolates because of the low nucleophilicity of the alpha-perfluorinated thiols, and fully characterized with 1H, 19F NMR spectrometry, IR and UV-vis absorption spectroscopies, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Au NPs with core diameters ranging from 1.6 to 2.9 nm, depending on the reaction conditions, were obtained. Water-soluble NPs (MPC-F8-PEGs) were obtained with the thiol HS-F8-PEG ending with a short poly(ethylene glycol) unit (PEG-OMe 550), whereas thiols with shorter PEG chains give rise to NPs insoluble in water. MPC-F8-PEGs undergo an exchange reaction with amphiphilic alkyl thiols. ESR investigations, using a hydrophobic radical probe, indicate that the MPC-F8-PEG monolayer shows a greater hydrophobicity compared to the analogous hydrogenated monolayer.

    Obiettivo di questa nostra ricerca estato quello di delineare il ruolo svolto dal Consell di Barcellona nel quadro dei rapporti instauratisi fra la Corona d'Aragona e la Sicilia durante il periodo di regno di Giacomo II. Per realizzarlo cí siamo basati essenzialmente su fonti custodite presso l' Archivio della Corona d'Aragona e l'Archivio Storico della Citta di Barcellona. Dal momento però che in quest'ultimo la documentazione di epoca medioevale risulta consistente soltanto a partire dalla metà del XIV secolo, relativamente al periodo che qui ci interessa l'indagine è stata condotta in particolare sui registri della serie Llibres del Consell, nella sezione del Consell de Cent, di cui i primi diecí volumi, compilati negli anni 1300-1327, risalgono per l'appunto al tempo di Giacomo. In questi registri è contenuta la documentazione più svariata: nomine dei consellers e di altri ufficiali municipali, giuramenti, ordinanze etc., ma vi si conserva anche -ed è ciò che per noi si è rivelato maggiormente utile -copia delle lettere inviate dagli stessi consellers al loro sovrano, ai rappresentanti di altri consigli cittadini e ai monarchi di altri paesi.     We report on the synthesis and self-assembly of three novel lipophilic guanosine derivatives exposing a ferrocene moiety in the C(50) position of the sugar unit. Their self-association in solution, and at the solid/ liquid interface, can be tuned by varying the size and nature of the C(8)-substituent, leading to the generation of either G-ribbons, lamellar G-dimer based arrays or the G4 cation-free architecture

    Synthesis and Characterization of Halloysite-Cyclodextrin Nanosponges for Enhanced Dyes Adsorption

    Inorganic-organic nanosponge hybrids based on halloysite clay and organic cyclodextrin derivatives (HNT-CDs) were developed by means of microwave irradiations in solvent-free conditions. The HNT-CDs nanomaterials characterized by FT-IR, TGA, BET, TEM, SEM, DLS, and zeta-potential have showed a hyper-reticulated network which possesses both HNT and cyclodextrin peculiarities. The new HNT-CDs nanosponge hybrids were employed as nanoadsorbents, first choosing Rhodamine B as the dye model, and furthermore for the removal of some cationic and anionic dyes, under different pH values (1.0, 4.54, and 7.4). The collected results showed that the pH solution as well as the electrostatic interactions affect the adsorption process. Factors controlling the adsorption process were discussed. The experimental adsorption equilibrium and kinetic data were best described by the Freundlich isotherm model. Excellent adsorption efficiency for cationic dyes were observed with respect to anionic ones. The results suggest that HNT-CDs nanosponge hybrids are a good nanoadsorbent for selective adsorption of cationic dyes with respect to the anionic ones from aqueous solutions

    Although a therapeutic relationship is essential to psychiatric/mental health nursing practice, its use is problematic because the nursing attributes contributing to a therapeutic relationship are elusive. A review of the literature in the field of psychiatric/mental health nursing was conducted to conceptualize constructs contributing to the development of a therapeutic relationship in advanced practice psychiatric/mental health nursing. A typology of nine general attributes were identified which have practical implications for psychiatric/mental health nursing education and practice. Recommendations include the application of a typology of constructs upon which psychiatric/mental health nurse curricula, in-service education, and reflective practice can be based

    The interplay between different stimuli in a 4D printed photo-, thermal-, and water-responsive liquid crystal elastomer actuator

    Multi-stimuli responsivity in 3D-printed objects is receiving much attention. However, the simultaneous interplay between different environmental stimuli is largely unexplored. In this work, we demonstrate direct ink writing of an oligomeric ink containing an azobenzene photo-switch with an accessible hydrogen bond allowing triple responsivity to light, heat, and water. The resulting printed liquid crystal elastomer performs multiple actuations, the specific response depending on the environmental conditions. Bilayer films formed by printing on a static substrate can rapidly change shape, bending almost 80 degrees if irradiated in air or undergoing a shrinkage of about 50 % of its length when heated. The bilayer film assumes dramatically different shapes in water depending on combined environmental temperature and lighting conditions.</p
