Records of Hahnia microphthalma from Germany (Araneae: Hahniidae)
A. SUEHRIG, conf. K. THALER & J. WUNDERLlCH). Ein Weibchen wurde zwischen dem 13.09. und 28.09.1996, ein Weibchen zwischen dem 28.09. und 13.10.1996 und zwei Weibchen zwischen dem 27.10. und 09.11.1996 gefangen
Search for X(3872) in gamma gamma Fusion and ISR at CLEO
We report on a search for the recently reported X(3872) state using 15.1
fb^{-1} e+ e- data taken in the \sqrt{s} = 9.46-11.30 GeV region. Separate
searches for the production of X(3872) in untagged gamma-gamma fusion and e+ e-
annihilation following initial state radiation (ISR) are made by taking
advantage of the unique correlation of J/psi -> l+ l- in X(3872) decay to pi+
pi- J/psi. No signals are observed in either case, and 90% confidence upper
limits are established as (2J+1)\Gamma_{\gamma\gamma}B(X -> pi+ pi- J/psi) <
12.9 eV and \Gamma_{ee}B(X -> pi+ pi- J/psi) < 8.3 eV.Comment: 8 pages postscript,also available through

Analysis of the potential of cancer cell lines to release tissue factor-containing microvesicles: correlation with tissue factor and PAR2 expression
BackgroundDespite the association of cancer-derived circulating tissue factor (TF)-containing microvesicles and hypercoagulable state, correlations with the incidence of thrombosis remain unclear.MethodsIn this study the upregulation of TF release upon activation of various cancer cell lines, and the correlation with TF and PAR2 expression and/or activity was examined. Microvesicle release was induced by PAR2 activation in seventeen cell lines and released microvesicle density, microvesicle-associated TF activity, and phoshpatidylserine-mediated activity were measured. The time-course for TF release was monitored over 90 min in each cell line. In addition, TF mRNA expression, cellular TF protein and cell-surface TF activities were quantified. Moreover, the relative expression of PAR2 mRNA and cellular protein were analysed. Any correlations between the above parameters were examined by determining the Pearson’s correlation coefficients.ResultsTF release as microvesicles peaked between 30–60 min post-activation in the majority of cell lines tested. The magnitude of the maximal TF release positively correlated with TF mRNA (c = 0.717; p
Galaxy clustering with photometric surveys using PDF redshift information
Photometric surveys produce large-area maps of the galaxy distribution, but
with less accurate redshift information than is obtained from spectroscopic
methods. Modern photometric redshift (photo-z) algorithms use galaxy
magnitudes, or colors, that are obtained through multi-band imaging to produce
a probability density function (PDF) for each galaxy in the map. We used
simulated data to study the effect of using different photo-z estimators to
assign galaxies to redshift bins in order to compare their effects on angular
clustering and galaxy bias measurements. We found that if we use the entire
PDF, rather than a single-point (mean or mode) estimate, the deviations are
less biased, especially when using narrow redshift bins. When the redshift bin
widths are , the use of the entire PDF reduces the typical
measurement bias from 5%, when using single point estimates, to 3%.Comment: Matches the MNRAS published version. 19 pages, 19 Figure

Streaming Verification of Graph Properties
Streaming interactive proofs (SIPs) are a framework for outsourced
computation. A computationally limited streaming client (the verifier) hands
over a large data set to an untrusted server (the prover) in the cloud and the
two parties run a protocol to confirm the correctness of result with high
probability. SIPs are particularly interesting for problems that are hard to
solve (or even approximate) well in a streaming setting. The most notable of
these problems is finding maximum matchings, which has received intense
interest in recent years but has strong lower bounds even for constant factor
approximations.
In this paper, we present efficient streaming interactive proofs that can
verify maximum matchings exactly. Our results cover all flavors of matchings
(bipartite/non-bipartite and weighted). In addition, we also present streaming
verifiers for approximate metric TSP. In particular, these are the first
efficient results for weighted matchings and for metric TSP in any streaming
verification model.Comment: 26 pages, 2 figure, 1 tabl
Intensive consolidation therapy compared with standard consolidation and maintenance therapy for adults with acute myeloid leukaemia aged between 46 and 60 years: final results of the randomized phase III study (AML 8B) of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and the Gruppo Italiano Malattie Ematologiche Maligne dell’Adulto (GIMEMA) Leukemia Cooperative Groups
The most effective post-remission treatment to maintain complete remission (CR) in adults aged between 46 and 60 years with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is uncertain. Previously untreated patients with AML in CR after induction chemotherapy with daunorubicin and cytarabine were randomized between two intensive courses of consolidation therapy containing high-dose cytarabine, combined with amsacrine or daunorubicin and a standard consolidation and maintenance therapy containing standard dose cytarabine and daunorubicin. One hundred fifty-eight CR patients were assigned to the intensive group and 157 patients to the standard group. After a median follow-up of 7.5 years, the 4-year survival rate was 32 % in the intensive group versus 34 % in the standard group (P = 0.29). In the intensive group, the 4-year relapse incidence was lower than in the standard group: 55 and 75 %, respectively (P = 0.0003), whereas treatment-related mortality incidence was higher: 22 versus 3 % (P < 0.0001). Two intensive consolidation courses containing high-dose cytarabine as post-remission treatment in patients with AML aged between 46 and 60 years old did not translate in better long-term outcome despite a 20 % lower relapse incidence. Better supportive care and prevention of treatment-related complications may improve the overall survival after intensified post-remission therapy in this age group
Inclusive production of X plus a recoil for the LHC Run-II
This letter presents a study of the inclusive production of X plus a recoil, using simulated samples of collisions at
TeV for an integrated luminosity in the range between 30
fb to 3 ab. The case for experiments to include un-prescaled
-tag multijet triggers for this topology is made and the ideal jet
thresholds are discussed. The sensitivity to Standard Model Higgs with a
transverse momentum of at least 200 GeV is evaluated with respect to a
continuous background, dominated by multijet processes. The mass of
-jet-pairs is analysed, quoting sensitivity to cross-sections in the range
of 1 to 2 pb, for 100 fb, covering the Higgs production cross section of
1.8 pb. The trigger strategy presented in this letter is compared to triggers
already in use, showing an increase on the signal efficiency for masses below
200 GeV and a performance comparable to a logic OR of all the currently
available akin triggers for higher masses. The robustness of the expected
sensitivity against systematic uncertainties is estimated by considering
various typical sources, such as those on the fitting parameters of the
continuous background, shape uncertainties affecting the signal acceptance and
the background modelling. The accuracy of a Higgs production cross section
measurements is also discussed, quoting sensitivity to deviations of 50% for
100 fb and 10% for 3 ab.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figure
