    What Determines E-Loyalty and E-Trust of Indonesian Muslim Lecturers Using Video Conference?

    This study examines the effect of perceived privacy and perceived security on e-trust and e-loyalty of Muslim lecturers using video conference media. Additionally, the role of e-trust as a mediator in this relationship and the role of consumer innovativeness as a moderator of the relationship between e-trust and e-loyalty are investigated. The samples consisted of 250 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data was collected by a questionnaire survey and analyzed in AMOS using Structural Equation Modelling. The results indicate that perceived privacy and security considerably and favorably influenced e-trust. Similarly, e-trust and perceived privacy have a strong positive effect on e-loyalty, although perceived security has no effect. Moreover, e-trust could moderate the impact of perceived privacy on e-loyalty, but not the impact of perceived security on e-loyalty. Meanwhile, consumer innovation could not regulate the link between e-trust and e-loyalty. Sampel yang diambil sebanyak 250 responden dengan pendekatan purposive sampling dan metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah Structural Equation Modelling menggunakan AMOS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi privasi dan persepsi keamanan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap e-kepercayaan. Persepsi privasi memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap e-loyalitas, persepsi keamanan tidak berpengaruh terhadap e-loyalitas, dan e-kepercayaan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap e-loyalitas. E-kepercayaan dapat memediasi efek privasi yang dirasakan pada e-loyalitas tetapi tidak memediasi pengaruh keamanan yang dirasakan pada e-loyalitas. Demikian juga, inovasi konsumen tidak dapat memoderasi hubungan e-kepercayaan terhadap e-loyalitas. Although VC apps offer myriad benefits, it has caught much media attention owing to concerns of privacy infringements. This study examines the key determinants of working professional’s intentions to use VC apps in the backdrop of this conflicting duality. A conceptual research model is proposed that is based on theoretical foundations of privacy calculus and extended with conceptualizations of mobile users’ information privacy concerns (MUIPC), trust, technicality, ubiquity, as well as theoretical underpinnings of social presence theory. Structural equation modelling (SEM) is used to empirically test the model using data collected from 487 working professionals. For researchers, the study offers insights on the extent to which social richness and technological capabilities afforded by the virtual environment serve as predictors of the continuance intentions of using VC apps. Researchers may also find the model applicable to other studies of surveillance-based technologies.     Videoconferencing was widely used in court proceedings during the covid 19 pandemic, and, probably, its use will not return to the point before the pandemic. The academic literature indicates many different concerns with videoconferencing in court proceedings that may ultimately impact the legitimacy of the judicial process. This study aims to appreciate if academic research has been incorporated into the practical recommendations which guide daily work in courts. First, we conducted a literature review to identify and organise the concerns about using videoconferencing in court proceedings. Then we selected two guidelines and evaluated whether their recommendations addressed solutions to concerns raised in the academic literature. We conclude that most of the concerns are present in the guidelines. Although, the concern regarding the difficulty of replicating the environment of the physical courtroom in videoconferencing, which is the most cited concern, is not addressed in the practical guidance

    Using Privacy Calculus Theory To Assess Users´ Acceptance Of Video Conferencing Apps During The Covid-19 Pandemic

    Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Information Systems and Technologies ManagementVideoconferencing (VC) applications (apps) are getting notable attention worldwide, from common citizens to professionals as an alternative to vis-à-vis communication specifically during COVID-19. The growth of VC apps is expected to rise even more in the future with the prediction that widespread adoption of remote work will continue to hold even after the pandemic. This research investigates the key drivers for individuals’ intentions into continuing to use this technology in professional settings. Considering the importance of professionals’ perceptions of privacy in professionals’ settings, this study proposes a conceptual model rooted in the theoretical foundations of privacy calculus theory, extended with the conceptualization of privacy concerns for mobile users (MUIPC), ubiquity, and theoretical underpinnings from social presence theory. The conceptual research model was empirically tested by using data collected from a survey of 487 actual users of videoconferencing apps across Europe. Structural equation modeling (SEM) is performed to test the model. The study revealed several findings (1) perceived value in using VC apps motivates the professionals to continue using VC apps and shapes their perception as they evaluate the risk-benefit trade-off they are making when using VC apps. (2) professionals’ indeed form and articulate their own assessment of value based on the perceived risks and benefits associated with using VC apps. However, professionals' perceptions of value are strongly influenced by potential benefits received from using VC apps than by potential risks associated with using VC apps. (3) professionals’ perceived risk is determined by MUIPC and trust. (4) professionals’ perceived benefits are shaped by ubiquity and social presence. For researchers, this study highlights the usefulness of integrating privacy calculus theory, social presence theory and trust in studying the individuals’ behavioral intentions towards new technologies. For practitioners, understanding the key determinants is pivotal to design and build mobile video-conferencing apps that achieve higher consumer acceptance and higher rates of continued usage of VC apps in professional settings

    The Effects of COVID-19 on Faculty in the College of Engineering at San Jose State University

    This paper reports on a survey of all engineering faculty at San José State University (SJSU) in Spring 2020. The purpose of the survey was to determine the impact of the shelter-in-place on faculty. Overall, 104 faculty completed this survey. Based on the number of COE faculty in Spring, 287, this equates to a confidence level of 95% with a margin of error of 8%. Because of this low margin of error, we can be fairly confident that this survey is representative of the faculty teaching in the College in Spring 2020. The majority of the respondents who answered the question about rank were lecturers (58); there were fewer tenure-track (18), tenured (13), adjunct (1), and Teaching Associates (1) responding. Of the faculty who responded to identify their gender, 66 were men and 27 were women. It is interesting to note that there were more responses from newer faculty; 45.1% of the faculty responses were from faculty with five or fewer years teaching at SJSU. The responses of the faculty show that they worried about the health and well-being of their families, friends, and students. As well, they worried about doing their job well despite the changes made to classes when the classes moved 100% online. Most faculty (60%) took training to learn about online tools; the most common training was for audio or video conferencing tools, Canvas, controlled testing environments, and online videos or tutorials. The tools used by faculty after the shelter-in-place was different than before with in-person classes. More faculty used audio and video conferencing tools (90.6%), webcams (77.3%), online videos or tutorials (68.8%), and YouTube (50%). Faculty reported that students indicated they had issues with several digital technologies after the classes moved 100%. More than 2/3 of students have problems with Internet connectivity either always or sometimes during Spring 2020. Also, more than 50% of the students had issues with a physical space for studying and webcams

    Practically-exploitable Vulnerabilities in the Jitsi Video Conferencing System

    Jitsi Meet is an open-source video conferencing system, and a popular alternative to proprietary services such as Zoom and Google Meet. The Jitsi project makes strong privacy and security claims in its advertising, but there is no published research into the merits of these claims. Moreover, Jitsi announced end-to-end encryption (E2EE) support in April 2020, and prominently features this in its marketing. We present an in-depth analysis of the design of Jitsi and its use of cryptography. Based on our analysis, we demonstrate two practical attacks that compromised server components can mount against the E2EE layer: we show how the bridge can break integrity by injecting inauthentic media into E2EE conferences, whilst the signaling server can defeat the encryption entirely. On top of its susceptibility to these attacks, the E2EE feature does not apply to text-based communications. This is not made apparent to users and would be a reasonable expectation given how Jitsi is marketed. Further, we identify critical issues with Jitsi\u27s poll feature, which allow any meeting participant to arbitrarily manipulate voting results. Our findings are backed by proof-of-concept implementations and were verified to be exploitable in practice. We communicated our findings to Jitsi via a coordinated disclosure process. Jitsi has addressed the vulnerabilities via a mix of technical improvements and documentation changes

    Collaboration has been an area of interest in many domains including education, research, healthcare supply chain, Internet of things, and music etc. It enhances problem solving through expertise sharing, ideas sharing, learning and resource sharing, and improved decision making. To address the limitations in the existing literature, this dissertation presents a design science artifact and a conceptual model for collaborative environment. The first artifact is a blockchain based collaborative information exchange system that utilizes blockchain technology and semi-automated ontology mappings to enable secure and interoperable health information exchange among different health care institutions. The conceptual model proposed in this dissertation explores the factors that influences professionals continued use of video- conferencing applications. The conceptual model investigates the role the perceived risks and benefits play in influencing professionals’ attitude towards VC apps and consequently its active and automatic use
