The Internet of Things (IoT) is accelerating the growth of data available on the Internet, which makes the traditional search paradigms incapable of digging the information that people need from massive and deep resources. Furthermore, given the dynamic nature of organizations, social structures, and devices involved in IoT environments, intelligent and automated approaches become critical to support decision makers with the knowledge derived from the vast amount of information available through IoT networks. Indeed, IoT is more desirable of an effective and efficient paradigm of proactive discovering rather than postactive searching. This paper discusses some of the important requirements and key challenges to enable effective and efficient thing-of-interest recommendation and provides an array of new perspectives on IoT recommendation

    An access control management protocol for Internet of things devices

    Internet enabled computing devices are increasingly at risk of misuse by individuals or malware. Initially such misuse was targeted mainly at computers, however there is increasing targeting of tablet and smartphone devices. In this paper we examine an access control management protocol for Internet of things devices in order to attempt to provide some protection against misuse of such devices. Although anti-malware software is commonly used in computers, and is increasingly being used for tablets and smartphones, this may be a less practicable approach for Internet of things devices. The access control management protocol for Internet of things devices examined in this paper involves the use of physical proximity ‘registration’ for remote control of such devices, encryption of communications, verification of geo-location of the mobile device used to control the IoT device, safe operation controls, and exception reporting as a means of providing a tiered security approach for such devices

    Purpose The purpose of this paper is to obtain a list of recommendations addressed by the information technology (IT) governance enablers in relation to IoT implementation. The reason behind this it is the lack of information about these instances which could the organizations to be more effective when implementing IoT. Design/methodology/approach The objectives will be obtained using the methodology - systematic literature review. Findings During the research, a list of recommendations was created on each IT governance enabler in relation to IoT implementation, showing the flaws that exist at the literature level for each enabler.     How IT Governance can assist IoT project implementation

    Internet of things (IoT) is considered a key technology for the Industry 4.0 revolution. Information Technology (IT) governance (ITG) is now an increasingly important tool for organizations to align their IT strategy and infrastructures with the organizations’ business objectives. The most adopted ITG framework is COBIT, which defines seven enabler categories. These enablers aim to facilitate the implementation, identification, and management of IT. This research aims to determine, explore, and define which are the most suitable IT governance enablers to assist managers in IoT implementation. The study adopted the Design Science Research methodology, including two systematic literature reviews and a Delphi method to build the artefact. The artefact was demonstrated and evaluated in a real organization. The results indicate that data privacy, data protection, and data analysis are currently the most relevant enablers to consider in an IoT implementation because they increase the efficiency of the solution and enhance data credibility
