    Interoperability Between ELearning Systems

    Get PDF
Online assessments are an integral part of eLearning systems that enhance both distance and continuous education. Although over two-hundred and fifty eLearning applications exist, most educational institutions are trapped with a particular vendor primarily due to lack of in test-question sharing features. This paper highlights the evolution of eLearning systems whilst detailing the two most prominent objective test question standards, namely, QML and QTI. An analysis conducted amongst software houses which are involved in the development of eLearning systems confirms the fact that most applications make use of proprietary formats and clearly shows a lack of import and export options amongst other features

    E-learning Aspects of NODES Project

    Get PDF
The NODES project aims at promoting the use, in adult training/lifelong learning, of multimedia knowledge, in order to facilitate competitiveness, employability and mobility of adults who are victims of the digital divide or of some of its components, such as distance, initial level of knowledge, language, and use of complex technologies. Our task in the project is studying the existing free or commercial licenses e-learning software. The aim of the investigation of these systems is surveying the most important functional features, modules, standards, and hardware and software requirements. After the comparison of the e-Learning systems by several methods, have to evaluate the most important parameters, which are suitable suggestion for the project management. These parameters were evaluated. Reviewing these parameters, our suggestion is the Moodle or the aTutor

Problems and Promises of Using LMS Learner Analytics for Assessment: Case Study of a First-Year English Program

Learning management systems (LMS) are widely used in education. They offer the potential for assessing student learning, but the reality of using them for this is problematic. This case study chronicles efforts by librarians at Marquette University to use LMS data to assess students’ information literacy knowledge in Marquette’s first-year English program

Sorting Through and Sorting Out: The State of Content Sharing in the E-Learning

On 22-24 September 2002, a group of 22 education and information technology specialists gathered on the campus of the University of California at Irvine (UCI), for a symposium on the state of educational "content sharing." (See participant list.) The meeting was sponsored by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation Education Program and the UCI Distance Learning Center. This paper summarizes the themes that emerged from that gathering. Most papers can be characterized as collaborative, but this one is particularly deserving of that adjective. The presentation here is an attempt to synthesize the ideas of all the participants, expressed in numerous conversational and written exchanges pre-, during and post-meeting. While every effort has been made to present the range of views, surely not all participants would agree with the emphases and interpretations herein. This report includes a hyper-linked bibliography and footnotes for additional web-based material on e-learning topics. . paper describes about the implementation of open source and content development in UTP ~arning. As the technology evolves and the need for open source enviromnent arises, a new digm is needed to allow E-Learning to move into this open source enviromnent. A few open ce programs were analyzed and Moodie was chose as the most suitable open source to :lop UTP's new E-Learning. Moodie appears to be one of the most user-friendly and flexible 1 source courseware products available and has excellent documentation, strong support for rity and administration, and is evolving towards IMS/SCORM standards. SCORM was :loped with the guidance of a large consortium of academic, technological and govermnental nizations. SCORM is maintained by the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative. objective of implementing open source and content development in developing UTP's Ening is mainly to help initiate an advance Information and Communication Technology ') enviromnent for student. Methodology of developing this project has already been defined probably pose much similar with traditional information-development process. Tools irement such as the Moodie software itself and other supportive software and hardware are tified to develop this project

An e-learning platform for delivering educational contents in a school environment

Learning is a continuous process, without end, which takes place throughout life, and is the result of the interaction of an individual with a physical external environment, a social context or with herself. In what new technologies may help improving and making more effective the interaction of an individual during his learning process? This paper describes the use of a platform for delivering educational contents to students, to put theories into practice through the use of an LMS and highlight the strengths and weaknesses that have these learning tools in a school environment, in which - besides its formative aspect - upbringing is important.learning management system, digital contents.

The hard SCORM LMS: reading SCORM courseware on hardcopy textbooks

    Get PDF
[[abstract]]The sharable content object reference model (SCORM) includes a representation of distance learning contents and a behavior definition of how users should interact with the contents. Usually, SCORM-compliant systems are developed based on Web browsers or Java program. We developed a system which allows users to read SCORM-compliant course materials on hardcopy papers while an OCR-like pen device is used as an interaction mechanism. A computer, a PDA, or a cellular phone can be used in conjunction with the pen device for multimedia presentations. Our project is called the hard SCORM. Therefore, users can read textbooks in a traditional manner while behavior of reading is incorporated with the SCORM specification.[[conferencetype]]國際[[conferencedate]]20050705~20050708[[booktype]]紙本[[conferencelocation]]Kaohsiung, Taiwa
