The present paper offers a comprehensive introduction to large language models and their transformative impact on professional training. Language models, especially GPT models, are on the verge of revolutionizing teaching methods and the culture of learning itself. The paper aims to explore the diverse applications, opportunities, and challenges of language models in professional education and training. It presents how language models work and real-world use cases in professional education. The use cases range from filtering and capturing metadata from course descriptions for better findability and interoperability, to improving training in production, supporting role-play-based learning units, and virtual coaching for future leaders. Each case study highlights the specific use of language models, the benefits they bring to educational content, and the insights gained from integrating these technologies into learning systems. This publication is part of an innovation competition focused on connecting and advancing educational and training platforms with modern methods like AI. Das Papier zielt darauf ab, die vielfältigen Einsatzmöglichkeiten, Chancen und Herausforderungen von Sprachmodellen in der beruflichen Bildung und Weiterbildung zu erkunden. Es stellt die Funktionsweise von Sprachmodellen und reale Anwendungsfälle in der beruflichen Bildung vor. Die Anwendungsfälle reichen vom Herausfiltern und Erfassen von Metadaten aus Kursbeschreibungen für eine bessere Auffindbarkeit und Interoperabilität, über die Verbesserung der Ausbildung in der Produktion, die Unterstützung von rollenspielbasierten Lerneinheiten, bis hin zum virtuellen Coaching für zukünftige Führungskräfte. The rise of large language model-based chatbots stems from their ability to comprehend and respond to human input, offering detailed information, addressing inquiries, and aiding in various tasks. The emergence of chatbots in multiple domains has resulted in a revolutionary period of technological integration, providing automation and augmentation solutions by enhancing operational efficiency. This report explores the design of large language model-based chatbots to enhance Human Resources (HR) functions in the workplace. Investigating the potential of advanced conversational AI, the study delves into the effectiveness of these chatbots in streamlining HR processes. Historically, technological advancements have continuously transformed our lives in diverse ways. Recently, a sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) based chatbot called ChatGPT has made similar breakthroughs, revolutionizing various industries and our everyday existence. Education is among the most significantly impacted areas, as ChatGPT opened new doors for both students and teachers. However, as a new phenomenon, it came with challenges within an unexplored grey area, introducing certain threats that persist even after more than a year into the ChatGPT journey. This systematic literature review seeks to analyse the available information concerning the opportunities and threats associated with the use of ChatGPT in academia, aiming to provide a comprehensive overview of the topic. The research suggests that the current version of ChatGPT can be beneficial for students, teachers, and researchers as a digital assistant capable of enhancing productivity through the automation of monotonous and repetitive tasks, provided that its limitations are effectively addressed. Ultimately, the paper provides valuable insights for future discussions, addressing important practical and theoretical considerations.
