An LP-Based Approach for Goal Recognition as Planning
Goal recognition aims to recognize the set of candidate goals that are
compatible with the observed behavior of an agent. In this paper, we develop a
method based on the operator-counting framework that efficiently computes
solutions that satisfy the observations and uses the information generated to
solve goal recognition tasks. Our method reasons explicitly about both partial
and noisy observations: estimating uncertainty for the former, and satisfying
observations given the unreliability of the sensor for the latter. We evaluate
our approach empirically over a large data set, analyzing its components on how
each can impact the quality of the solutions. In general, our approach is
superior to previous methods in terms of agreement ratio, accuracy, and spread.
Finally, our approach paves the way for new research on combinatorial

Two-echelon freight transport optimisation: unifying concepts via a systematic review
Multi-echelon distribution schemes are one of the most common strategies adopted by the transport companies in an aim of cost reduction, but their identification in scientific literature is not always easy due to a lack of unification. This paper presents the main concepts of two-echelon distribution via a systematic review, in the specific a meta-narrative analysis, in order to identify and unify the main concepts, issues and methods that can be helpful for scientists and transport practitioners. The problem of system cost optimisation in two-echelon freight transport systems is defined. Moreover, the main variants are synthetically presented and discussed. A canonical theory of dynamic decision-making
Decision-making behavior is studied in many very different fields, from medicine and eco- nomics to psychology and neuroscience, with major contributions from mathematics and statistics, computer science, AI, and other technical disciplines. However the conceptual- ization of what decision-making is and methods for studying it vary greatly and this has resulted in fragmentation of the field. A theory that can accommodate various perspectives may facilitate interdisciplinary working. We present such a theory in which decision-making is articulated as a set of canonical functions that are sufficiently general to accommodate diverse viewpoints, yet sufficiently precise that they can be instantiated in different ways for specific theoretical or practical purposes. The canons cover the whole decision cycle, from the framing of a decision based on the goals, beliefs, and background knowledge of the decision-maker to the formulation of decision options, establishing preferences over them, and making commitments. Commitments can lead to the initiation of new decisions and any step in the cycle can incorporate reasoning about previous decisions and the rationales for them, and lead to revising or abandoning existing commitments. The theory situates decision-making with respect to other high-level cognitive capabilities like problem solving, planning, and collaborative decision-making. The 2014 International Planning Competition: Progress and Trends
We review the 2014 International Planning Competition (IPC-2014), the eighth
in a series of competitions starting in 1998. IPC-2014 was held in three separate
parts to assess state-of-the-art in three prominent areas of planning research: the
deterministic (classical) part (IPCD), the learning part (IPCL), and the probabilistic
part (IPPC). Each part evaluated planning systems in ways that pushed the edge of
existing planner performance by introducing new challenges, novel tasks, or both.
The competition surpassed again the number of competitors than its predecessor,
highlighting the competition’s central role in shaping the landscape of ongoing
developments in evaluating planning systems
